"CeraVe's Resurfacing Retinol Serum. I like this more than the purple air-tight pump. This blue one, much better, especially if you have hyperpigmentation. I had steered patients towards this direction if you have dark spots, melasma, and you want to gently work on those dark spots with a retinol. This one actually is targeting dark spots more effectively with niacinamide, but also licorice root extract. I like the texture of it. This blue one is still one of my favorites. And of course, you get the three essential ceramides in all CeraVe products, which is an essential component of your skin barrier, helps repair the skin barrier. So, for those with sensitive skin, CeraVe's great."

If you put more than that, you will get a dry, peeling face or even red and swollen."

But it's got licorice root and niacinamide. Both of those ingredients are amazing for dark spots and for redness."

I believe this is an encapsulated retinol at a .1% concentration, plus your hyaluronic acid in it. Now even though it has that encapsulated retinol it doesn't mean that it's not going to be as effective as another type of retinol that you might find at the drugstore. With retinol it has to turn into retinoic acid so once it's applied to your skin your skin converts the retinol to retinoic acid and it has to go through two steps which is why retinol is more gentle than tretinoin because tretinoin is retinoic acid right off the bat. This one also has hyaluronic acid in it and it has ceramides, ceramides help to strengthen and repair that skin barrier and I really like ceramides in actives like this because it really helps to keep that barrier nice and strong and then of course it does contain niacinamide as well."

This product has an encapsulated retinol so this is going to be even more gentle. It has hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, ceramides, and licorice root extract. This product will help to improve uneven skin tone, so if you have post-acne marks or dark spots this can be lovely. This is great if you have texture and also signs of aging, and if you're acne prone then retinol can also be great to use as well. I really like the way that this applies to the skin. I do feel like this really is effective as well, especially when you're consistent with it. I've never had an issue with pilling either, and this always sits nicely with all of my skincare products."
