What the gurus are saying

Gurus consistently praise this lotion for its lightweight texture, quick absorption, and non-tacky finish, with particular enthusiasm for its 5% urea content as a hydrating humectant. It's widely recommended for very dry skin, winter dryness, and hand care, and works well layered under thicker products. The main concern is the presence of potentially comedogenic ingredients that may cause issues for acne-prone skin, though this is less problematic for full-body use.

"The CeraVe Intensive Moisturizing Lotion is a nice moisturizing lotion that's lightweight, but it's got some good ingredients such as the urea, shea butter, ceramides, and vitamin E. It's fragrance-free. It is definitely on the lighter side. I will actually layer this on days when my skin is really dry. I'll layer this underneath thicker creams because this has that urea in it which gives it the extra moisture and smoothness, and then layering it with something that's even a little bit thicker gives my skin more moisture."

Moisturizer 🆚 CeraVe Intensive Moisturizing Lotion VS La Roche Posay Lipikar Urea Body Lotion
"CeraVe plays much better with other body care products such as anything with peptides or retinoids. It spreads really easy and a little bit goes a long way. Once it sets and dries, it's not tacky and sticky like some other products."
Moisturizer 🆚 CeraVe Intensive Moisturizing Lotion VS La Roche Posay Lipikar Urea Body Lotion
"The CeraVe spreads really easy and a little bit goes a long way. Once it sets and dries, it has a much more silky smooth elegant texture and feel to it. Non-tacky. The CeraVe does have quite a few isopropyl palmitate, cetyl alcohol, stearic acid, sorbinolate, carbomers, glycerol, steareth-one and then two fatty acids and vitamin E. So it's got 10 total ingredients that I would consider comedogenic or pore clogging potential. If you're using this all over your body, not so much your face, it's not going to be as big of a deal. But for some people, it really can be an issue like on their back and things like that."
Moisturizer 🆚 CeraVe Intensive Moisturizing Lotion VS La Roche Posay Lipikar Urea Body Lotion
"For the survey, great for sensitive or dry skin or very, very dry skin that is not acne prone. Great for layering over other products, especially products that have actives on barrier repair and long lasting moisture."

"This one's got water, glycerin, some fatty alcohols, ceramides, cholesterol. This is the one with the urea in it. You can kind of see it's thick, but still kind of lotiony. It's one of my top recommendations for very dry skin days or very dry skin or very dry cold weather."

CeraVe New! Hydro-Urea Moisturizing Body Lotion First Impressions & Comparison to Original Version
"The urea they used in here is really nice. It really does feel nice and hydrating and it does soak in pretty quickly. It's definitely light, more lightweight. It's got more of a gel texture. It's a nice hydrating ingredient. We've got hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, phytosphingosine which is a skin-identical ingredient, the ceramides, sodium hyaluronate, squalane, cholesterol and alanine."
CeraVe New! Hydro-Urea Moisturizing Body Lotion First Impressions & Comparison to Original Version
"This one instantly plumped up the skin here, which is very dry. It feels nice, it doesn't feel tacky, it feels silky smooth. It has more of a shiny finish. If your skin is super dry, there's nothing wrong with this. The urea in here is great, it's a wonderful ingredient. Overall, very nice."

"I absolutely love this especially for hand care. Hand care becomes increasingly important to me in the winter time because this season causes my hands to feel really dry, dehydrated, sometimes even itchy, irritated, and then I get all that rough skin around my nail beds and hang nails. What's different about this than the original moisturizing lotion is the intensive version includes 5% of synthetic urea. This is such an amazing ingredient that gives this moisturizing lotion the edge that I personally need for hand care in the winter because the 5% of urea is an amazing humectant for the skin. It's a natural moisturizing factor."

"This stuff, it's so good. It's got this great lotion texture. It sinks in so quickly. The 5% of urea really helps the hydration deep down in your skin. It lasts a long time. It also helps to soothe on contact that itchiness that I can get in my hands. It's not greasy, but really nice and moisturized and soothed as well."

"I'm pretty happy with the CeraVe Intensive Moisturizing Lotion with Urea as well. I'm almost finished with it."

"When it comes to a body moisturizer, I actually like the experience of their Intensive Moisturizing Lotion the best between the regular lotion and the regular cream. I kind of like that lipid slip that stays around a little bit longer. It feels a little bit greasier, I would say some people would describe it as maybe a little bit more oily after feel, more of a slip, but I like that feeling when I'm moisturizing the body. It feels more like the lip barrier than any of the other products from CeraVe. It does have 5% urea in it which is going to have multiple benefits, but if you want a strong exfoliating benefit you really need to see 10% or greater."
