What the gurus are saying

The hybrid formula cuts the white cast you'd get from all mineral sunscreen while keeping the gentler feel of zinc, making it worth considering if chemical sunscreens tend to sting your skin. Dermatologists praise the ceramides and niacinamide for barrier support and hydration, and note it spreads easily without much visible cast on most skin tones, though deeper skin may still see some whiteness. The formula is lightweight and absorbs quickly, though it does lean slightly shiny; at its sale price of around 13 dollars it's a solid everyday option for face and body, especially for water activities.

"Their Hydrating Sheer Sunscreen that's hybrid, great for face and body and it's water resistant. CeraVe just launched this new sunscreen SPF 50 with the three essential ceramides. That's what makes CeraVe very special. And ceramides are great at repairing and restoring the skin barrier because ceramides are part of the glue that hold our skin cells together. And then also has niacinamide, which we all love that vitamin B3 analog that will help brighten the skin, repair the skin barrier, and regulate sebum production."

"CeraVe Hydrating Sheer Sunscreen is SPF 30 water resistant 80 minutes and has ceramide and niacinamide, which are great ingredients to help brighten the skin, regulate sebum production, help soothe the skin, and even help repair the skin barrier. It's a water resistant sunscreen you want to use if you are going for a run, working out outside, or going to the beach. The 80 minutes water resistance means that if you're in the water for 80 minutes you actually have to reapply your sunscreen. It's a hybrid sunscreen with zinc oxide plus chemical UV filters. It's very affordable and great to use for the face and body."

"The CeraVe Hydrating Sheer Sunscreen is a water resistant hybrid sunscreen. It's kind of a liquid formula. The cast isn't too bad but it spreads on the skin pretty easily. I don't have any issues putting makeup on over this either."
Amazon Prime Day October 2023 Beauty Deals
"CeraVe came out with their new Hydrating Sheer Sunscreen. It's a hybrid sunscreen so that means it has zinc in it as well as some organic filters, and because it's a hybrid sunscreen it's not as casty as an all mineral sunscreen often can be. There's still a bit of a white cast, it's not a zero cast sunscreen, but it's much less noticeable on the skin in comparison to an all mineral formula. This product is SPF 30, it's water resistant, it's moisturizing, it's hydrating, it's a little bit on the shiny side, but as an everyday facial moisturizer it's a great option. It doesn't burn or sting around the eyes. It has niacinamide which is anti-inflammatory, it helps with the moisture barrier, helps with hyperpigmentation. It also has ceramides which are helpful for the moisture barrier. It's ordinarily $25 which I thought was too much to pay for this sunscreen on the regular, but it's on sale for $13.49, which is a great option."

"I enjoy because it provides just a little nice lightweight kick of hydration in the morning but it absorbs pretty fast so I can put sunscreen on over it without a lot of effort."
Gentle Skincare - Tips For Rosacea & Sensitive Skin
"CeraVe Hydrating Sheer Sunscreen is a hybrid sunscreen that's water resistant. The consistency is more of a fluid, kind of like a cross between a fluid and a cream. Hybrid sunscreen means zinc plus some organic, also called chemical, filters. The cast I find is a lot less noticeable in comparison to an all mineral, but I also find that these hybrid sunscreens are a lot less likely to sting in comparison to organic, also called chemical, sunscreens. So if you find that organic sunscreens, chemical sunscreens burn or sting, but you're put off by the heavy white cast of an all mineral sunscreen, try a hybrid sunscreen. It's a nice balance. It's not a zero cast though. If you have a deeper skin tone it will show up, but it is a lot less noticeable."
