What the gurus are saying

Gurus praise the formula's hydrating texture, ingredient quality, and suitability for sensitive and acne-prone skin. The consistent complaint is white cast, which dermatologists note is especially pronounced on deeper skin tones and can be difficult to blend. Most agree it works well for daily use and around the eyes, though the tinted version helps minimize visible whiteness. One reviewer calls it the best sunscreen if you'll actually use it daily.

"Their hydrating mineral sunscreens have traditionally been so disappointing, especially for those who are skin of color or even fair skin individuals had problems with the white cast."

"CeraVe Hydrating Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 is a great alternative if you find that one to leave more of a white cast, or if you're looking for just a good mineral sunscreen to use on a daily basis. This one is going to be more hydrating, 100% pure mineral, also fragrance-free, suitable for sensitive skin, rosacea prone skin, as well as kids and babies. It's got a more moisturizing formula. A lot of mineral pure mineral sunscreens tend to feel a little more drying or cakey on the skin. This one doesn't, I think because of the other ingredients in it, so it's more hydrating. From my personal experience and feedback I've gotten from my patients, comparing this one to another, the CeraVe one is less likely to leave a white cast. I do find it a little bit more elegant. The downside is that it is not water resistant, so it's going to be more suitable for daily use. It's great if you even have acne prone skin. It's not comedogenic, but does leave a little bit more of a dewy finish. So, great to use alone or under makeup."

"I love the ingredients list on it it has titanium dioxide at 9% zinc oxide at 7% plus water and glycerin it has a very low percentage niacinamide which is fine looks at about less than 1% and ceramides the downside is it's incredibly white on skin of color so even though on the ingredients side I would give this a healthy seven or eight out of 10 for the white cast alone it would drop significantly because I didn't really make it with skin of color in mind it's okay but very white and hard to rub in."

"I love the CeraVe Hydrating Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30. When people ask what the best sunscreen is to use, I tell them the one that you're willing to use every day."

"For this routine my personal pick is the CeraVe Hydrating Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 in the tinted version, though this also comes in a non-tinted version. I really love this sunscreen option for this routine because it has ceramides in it, it has niacinamide in it, and the SPF in this one is zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, so a very good, well balanced, well formulated sunscreen that is going to complement a Skin Barrier reset routine just beautifully. One of my key reminders is to make sure you use enough sunscreen to get the SPF on the label, so either put a couple layers on or put a lot on to begin with."

"CeraVe Hydrating Mineral Sunscreen is super moisturizing but it's casty, I'm not gonna pretend it's not. However, this is a good option for those of you who find that sunscreens burn or sting around the eyes. Mineral only sunscreens are great to use around the eyes because they're super casty but around the eye it's not so noticeable, especially if you wear eye makeup over it."
