What the gurus are saying

The smooth, buttery texture that melts and emulsifies cleanly earns praise for removing makeup and sunscreen without leaving a film. However, those with oily, acne-prone skin should skip it. The formula contains myristic acid, which can clog pores, a concern since the product targets teenagers prone to breakouts. Those with very dry skin or eczema find it nourishing and effective.

"It's got myristic acid, which is three out of five on the comedogenic scale. You want to avoid this if you have oily, acne prone skin. And the problem is this whole range has been made for teens and tweens who, guess what, tend to have more oily acne prone skin. So this isn't making much sense. The positives of this product is it's got niacinamide and ceramides. So what I would say is I actually really love this product if you have very dry skin or if you have eczema. But if you have oily, acne prone skin and you're a teenager, then this is one to avoid."

"Oh, they have a new Melting Balm Cleanser. That's new. Might have to try that. I love cleansing balms. I like the packaging, too. I don't know if you guys already knew about this. Is this new? This is the first I'm seeing it."

"It's fine for breaking down sunscreen, but waterproof mascara, absolutely not. It took ages for me to work this into my lashes to be able to break down my waterproof mascara, and even then I had flakes left over and I just couldn't rub my eyes anymore. So I personally would not recommend this product. I used it to remove sunscreen and stuff and then do my regular cleansing, but it definitely doesn't remove waterproof mascara, so I wasn't really a fan of this."

"The BYOMA Melting Balm Cleanser is another great option to remove your makeup and sunscreen at the end of the day, as that first cleanse. Perfect for all skin types, it's also very gentle and it doesn't leave a film on the skin, but it does contain fragrance, so if you don't like fragrance in your skincare and you have sensitive skin, please keep that in mind. You're getting less product with this one, and it's a pretty big tub, which might be a little awkward to travel with. But it has a really nice buttery texture that feels really nice when you apply it to your skin, and it's also quite moisturizing. There's olive fruit, sea buckthorn, and grape seed oil in here, so great ingredients to nourish the skin, and great ingredients to remove that makeup and sunscreen."

"For that first cleanse, I would go in with the BYOMA Melting Balm Cleanser. This is designed to remove your makeup and your sunscreen, and this does a really good job. Everything melts right off the skin, you rinse your face off, and then you can go in with your second cleanser afterwards."

"It smells really good. It's like buttery soft, like it's gliding over the skin. It emulsified and kind of turned into that whitey milky fluid that rinsed away so effortlessly and so easily. It's a really, really nice cleansing balm. I do much prefer the texture, to be honest with you, rather than that plasticky feeling balmy texture. I do think it's going to be one of my preferred cleansing balms."

"Once the micellar water phase is over, I go in with either a balm or an oil. Personally I prefer the balms, and I've chosen BYOMA. This is my first time using this and I have to say I really like it. This is called the Melting Balm Cleanser, retails for about 17 euros, and I found it really effective. There's some that kind of leave a film, or they bother your eyes, and this doesn't do any of those things. I've used some less expensive balms that just sting, I just don't like them. So this is just a little bit more luxurious than some of those, and I found it highly effective. I think it's also refillable, which would be great if that's true. I don't have any idea where to buy the refill packs, but it must be online at Boots, and I think anything that's in that refillable space is great."
