Nothing. None of the experts who reviewed it raised a problem.

    What the gurus are saying

This oil's combination of heat and UV protection matters most for color-treated hair, since UV rays fade color over time and this product helps prevent that damage. The lightweight formula smooths beautifully without weighing strands down, and it works on both wet and dry hair. Those with color-treated hair who spend time outdoors may want to reach for this regularly.

"I love the Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil line, the whole line. Every product works miracles on my hair. It's hydrating without being heavy, which is something I personally need. It's truly one of the best shampoos and conditioners I've ever tried. I ran out a couple months ago and I feel like I should get the jumbo size because I love it so much. I also love their leave in spray. I'm a die hard fan of the whole Invisible Oil line."

"I also tried out the Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil, this is a protective heat primer, and I've been using it since trying it for that video and I'm loving it. It just smooths out the hair so beautifully but it feels really lightweight, which is nice, especially after I've washed my hair I don't want to put product in it immediately that weighs it down. But if I'm going to be styling my hair at all it's nice to have a little bit of a protector that doesn't weigh down the hair. You can use this on wet hair or dry hair, which is nice, so if I'm going to be blow drying my hair I'll use it, or if my hair is already dry and I'm going to be using some sort of hot tool I use it as well, and it's just beautiful. I've been really loving it plus it smells nice."

"I'm a fan of the Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil. The conditioners will help to limit the absorption of things that can discolor your hair from pool water. It's also a heat protectant, so when you do heat style your hair, use the lowest heat setting and it will help to offset heating of the hair strands from your treatment that would otherwise damage your hair even further."

"I highly recommend this product, the BB Hairdresser's Invisible Oil by Bumble and Bumble. It's a heat and UV protective primer, and the UV protection in this for your hair strands is beneficial to cut down on weathering, especially for those of you who color treat your hair, because a lot of what ends up fading the hair color from color treatments is UV exposure. So putting some UV protectant on there can actually help your hair color last longer."

"I ten out of ten recommend this heat and UV protective primer, the Hairdresser's Invisible Oil. This is really good if you have color treated hair to reduce weathering if you're going to be outside doing stuff, because UV rays can actually damage your hair strands. If you have color treated hair it won't affect the lifespan of your hair color, but if you have naturally blonde hair, UV rays can discolor it, for sure it's a lot more vulnerable than brown or black hair."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.

    Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
