What the gurus are saying

A medium-weight cream that hydrates while staying lightweight, earning praise for how it absorbs without pilling and layers smoothly under serums and sunscreen. Most gurus love the texture and richness, with several noting it punches above its price point, though one expert flags a fragrance ingredient (cinnamon extract) as potentially irritating and suggests skipping it in favour of unscented alternatives. Best suited to normal or dry skin, and worth patch-testing first if you have sensitivity to fragrance.

"I tried the Bubble Slam Dunk Hydrating Moisturizer too. These are all fairly lightweight, like they're not super rich thick creams, but this one I would say is a little heavier than the others. It's got shea butter in it and no niacinamide in this one either."

"For moisturizers I really like [...] Bubble Slam Dunk Hydrating Moisturizer."

"It's much thicker, feels more nourishing. I'd rather use this one in the winter time when I want a thicker moisturizer. It rubs in really well, doesn't pill, layers well with serums and subsequent sunscreens. Skin feels nice and silky smooth. I have to give this one an 8 out of 10. [...] Bubble did a good job with this one. No niacinamide in this one, [...] but that avocado oil I think is working really nice in this moisturizer."

"The Bubble Slam Dunk moisturizer is overall a decent moisturizer, just contained one fragrance ingredient which I didn't love. [...] It does not contain any drying types of alcohol and it's also fragrance free unscented, which is really nice. It's made in the US."

Bubble Skincare Slam Dunk Hydrating Moisturizer Review, How to Use, Dupes
"The cinnamon scent in here isn't very noticeable but you will notice a little bit of a scent when you apply it. [...] Some companies contend that this extract has antioxidant benefits but the fragrance and the potential irritation in my opinion outweigh that benefit. I just think you're better off not using products with that instead of thinking you're going to have some benefit from it because it's more likely you'll probably be irritated from it than have any benefits from it, and especially when there's so many other good antioxidants that don't have a fragrance component to it. They didn't have to include it and they probably shouldn't have. [...] It's got a lotiony slightly jellish texture and it does smooth into the skin pretty nice. [...] It ends up having a slightly tacky finish and for me I preferred using this in my evening routine."

"Follow this up with your Bubble Slam Dunk Hydrating Moisturizer"

"The Slam Dunk Hydrating Moisturizer feels like [...] a heavier cream. This one I personally prefer because I like heavier moisturizers. If you have drier skin, this is something that's going to be for you."
Yay
"The texture is that silky kind of cream with a nice richness to it. [...] If you want a creamy moisturizer that bursts into hydration on your skin, I honestly think the Bubble Slam Dunk is more hydrating than Laneige. [...] This is a very, very surprisingly hydrating and very refreshing on the skin while still maintaining a richness and a creaminess and a moisturizing, comforting feel on the skin, with a little bit of occlusivity to hug everything in. But this is still a medium to lightweight type of cream. It's a really special kind of experience with this moisturizer, and it's a little bit more affordable if you are on a budget."
Top Pick: hydrating moisturizer
Yay
"Their slam dunk moisturizer is this really weird in-between lightweight but also nourishing for dry patches. It has aloe leaf juice, avocado oil which is a nice antioxidant, glycerin which is nicely hydrating, and evening primrose oil which is nicely soothing. Even with oily T-Zone, it feels nice and more like a gel cream - very light, very nourishing, very hydrating. It's a really nice all-rounder. The only thing I'll say is they claim blue light protection but from what I can see they don't, and I don't believe they do. Other than that, the product is really good."

"Bubble is really affordable and fun and donates to Teen Mental Health. I love the application of the Slam Dunk Hydrating Moisturizer [...] because it gives you the perfect amount every time. [...] The gel is almost more clear, it's very stringy and it has high water content."

"Bubble, the Bubble Moisturizer. If you want during the day you can use the gel one and you can use the moisturizing one at night. That's another great option, but it's technically fragrance free. Now I do believe it has geranial or limonene in it so just be aware of that."

"This Slam Dunk Hydrating Moisturizer literally feels like a couch cushion. You know how when you sit down on a really great couch and you just kind of sink in but there's a little bit of bounce to it? That is exactly what this is for skin. It feels like a couch cushion on my cheeks, and this really is an amazing hydrating moisturizer for those who are a little bit on the drier side. I absolutely love this and it just feels so good as you rub it in. This has aloe, it has avocado, it has shea butter."
Yay
"This moisturizer has glycerin, a great ingredient for hydrating the skin, avocado oil, another ingredient great for nourishing dry skin, and right after it shea butter, a great ingredient for really moisturizing the skin. So this moisturizer definitely has ingredients that are great for dry skin."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
