What the gurus are saying

One guru found this a luxurious, gooey hydrator that layers beautifully over damp skin without the heavy feeling of some masks, calling it an excellent value. However, those with acne-prone skin should know the formula packs six potentially pore-clogging ingredients in a short list, and a few gurus felt it didn't outperform their existing moisturizers or deliver a noticeable brightening boost despite the kojic acid it contains. A fragrant essential oil is present, so anyone sensitive to scent may want to pass.

"This overnight hydration mask is essentially just going to be a moisturizer, we make it sound more fancy by calling it a mask. Not the clay mask, but the moisturizer, this is going to be an appropriate step for a tween, just fine."

"This one from Bubble, the Overnight Hydrating Sleep Mask, I absolutely love because of the applicator you can twist it on or off so it's really easy to carry with you on the go, but it's also something that I can keep by my bedside. One pump and it's so gooby and hydrating. It doesn't tent up the same way that other ones do, but this one is so good and so luxurious on the skin. I would say that this is the best luxury option that doesn't cost a luxury price. They also recommend that you use this over damp skin, so if you do have a toner in your routine or a serum or some other form of moisturizer, this is fantastic to layer with. This is an absolute slam dunk."

Do You Have A Retinol Rash Or Are You Experiencing Retinization?
"This is an excellent product from Bubble, this is their overnight sleep mask. But be aware that this does have different acids in it such as kojic and mandelic, so only use this if your skin is pretty resilient and you're just trying to buffer a retinoid."
The New Laminated Skin Trend Has Me Confused….
"This is from Bubble. It is amazing. This is the Overnight Hydrating Sleep Mask. And yes, while it is a sleep mask, it's basically a thick moisturizer. This has things like mandelic acid in it, so it has this treatment step in it already. And then it comes out in this beautiful ribbon-like texture, so it still gives you that hydration, and it gives you that semi-laminated look."

"The overnight hydrating mask, I don't think it's maybe necessary for anyone. If you just pick the three that we went through before based on your skin type, that's probably where you're going to have the most success."

"I wasn't totally disappointed, I just wasn't overly impressed. I didn't really notice any additional benefits in my routine as opposed to using my other products. [...] For acne prone skin, it's not the most friendly product. [...] We've got squalane, we've got cera alcohol, we've got glycerol stearate, we've got stearic acid, hexene glycol, and isostearate, so six acneagenic ingredients. For acne prone skin I'd probably [...] avoid this at this point, just too many acneic ingredients in a short product list. [...] The price is good, this is 1.7 ounces, 50 milliliters, and retails for about $20, so that's a pretty good deal. [...] Terms of the it factor, I wasn't overly impressed. I didn't hate it, I'll definitely finish it, but I wouldn't repurchase it. I think maybe for younger skin with less issues, less aging issues, less hyperpigmentation issues, it could probably be more beneficial than somebody older like myself that has all of the issues going on: wrinkles, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, texture."

Best Thick Moisturizers & Night Time Sleeping Masks - Favorite Overnight Facial Creams
"I really like this. I like the texture. If you're somebody that applies a lot of layers before, this one's really easy to apply at the end of it because the texture of it is kind of a lotiony texture as opposed to like a super heavy thick cream, so that's nice. You can just add it on at the end of your routine. The only thing I dislike about this: it does have a fragrant essential oil in it. It's not super strong, the scent isn't terribly noticeable and does dissipate, but it is there. So if you're sensitive to scents, that might be a pass. But otherwise, it's a super affordable brand and most of their stuff is fragrance free or unscented, which is nice."

"I've been doing this a couple of times a week, and so far I don't know, this I don't know that it's like a win but it's not a loss. [...] Everything I've tried from Bubble skincare so far I've been sort of, I don't know we'll say seven out of ten, not a fail but not like oh my God."

EXFOLIATING MY FACE & SCALP
"This is a product that has ingredients in it that can help with lightening sunspots, age spots, and it's moisturizing. I've actually liked this. I use it a couple of times a week per the instructions, and typically I've been not using it along with my tretinoin on the nights that I do use it, but you certainly could use them in combination."
SKINCARE FOR MEN AND MATURE SKIN *Vlog*
"So far it's moisture-rising but it's not as good as the Malee Love one just to cut to the chase. [...] The instructions say to use it two to three nights a week and that's kind of what I've been doing."

"I've not been overly interested in Bubble, but this night mask is incredible. I'm using it during the day because it's just a little bit dry, my skin's a bit dry and it's cold out there. It leaves my skin very plump and dewy overnight."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
