  • Gentle enough for sensitive and teenage skin
  • Multiple brightening actives in one bottle

What they flagged

  • Bottle durability concerns
  • Vitamin C derivative, not L-ascorbic acid

What the gurus are saying

This serum's blend of brightening actives (particularly tranexamic acid, alpha arbutin, and niacinamide working together) helps fade dark spots, post-acne marks, and uneven tone, and the vitamin C derivative (sodium ascorbyl phosphate) is gentle enough for sensitive or younger skin and works well alongside retinoids. Most gurus love it as an affordable all-in-one brightening step that works in both morning and evening routines; one expert prefers stronger vitamin C forms like L-ascorbic or ethyl ascorbic acid for more potency, though he still rates it fairly and notes no safety concerns. The milky texture hydrates without heaviness, making it easy to layer or use solo, though those with very dry skin may want two drops and oily skin types one and a half.

"The Bubble Daydream Vitamin C and Niacinamide Tone and Texture Serum is $17. It's great for brightening up your skin. The star of the show is sodium ascorbyl phosphate, a vitamin C lightweight serum that promotes a bright, smooth, and even complexion and reduces sun damage, always used under sunscreen. Niacinamide can hydrate skin, calm irritation, improve barrier function, and reduce signs of aging. Alpha arbutin works to help visibly reduce the appearance of spots and uneven skin tone. It also contains tranexamic acid, ceramides, licorice root, and rice bran extract. I'm on my third bottle of this, and I also love this for younger people that may have more sensitive skin, since at that age skin is still super young and maybe sensitive, and it contains great ingredients to help skin acclimate to getting older."

Best Brightening Products for Dark Spots, Hyperpigmentation, & Melasma 🙌💗 How to Even Skin Your Tone
"If you've got hyperpigmentation and haven't tried a lot of other products, this might be a nice one to start with. We've got that vitamin C derivative sodium ascorbyl phosphate. The reason you see that compared to some of the other vitamin C derivatives is that one specifically has been known for its benefits for brightening skin. Other than that we've got niacinamide, alpha arbutin, tranexamic acid, and licorice root. It's really nice, gentle enough I think if you have a kid or a teenager. [...] This brand is pretty friendly for younger people."

"This one uses sodium ascorbyl phosphate, niacinamide, tranexamic acid for brightening, alpha arbutin for brightening and licorice root for brightening as well. It's fragrance and alcohol-free. It's got really nice lotion texture. I think this is my second bottle of it. So if you have skin that you need some brightening for, this one's a nice serum for that. And honestly, I'll use this with other products or sometimes I'll use this at night, which is the nice thing about some of the derivatives because they play well with other products generally."

They're all well tolerated generally by most people and they're all well studied. Licorice root, arbutin, tranexamic acid, it's kind of a newer one but it's been shown a lot to really help."

"It's got a vitamin C derivative, alpha arbutin, which is a brightening ingredient, tranexamic acid, another great brightening ingredient. It's got ceramides for helping the skin barrier and helping with hydration, licorice root, another brightening ingredient, and then rice bran extract. It's a really nice lightweight serum. You could use this if you've got a younger person or somebody my age. It's a really nice daytime vitamin C serum, or you can use it in your evening routine as well if you want. Sometimes I'll even layer this over my regular vitamin C serum, or sometimes I'll layer this over just as the hydrating serum and it seems to work well for that as well. Drugstore Skincare vs Pricey & K-Beauty Brands: What Actually Works?
"Bubble's daydream serum is great for brightening skin. It is a good product. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, but it is made for the most amount of people that will be able to use it and buy it without having a reaction. Is it made with as much actives as other products might have or have as good benefits and results as other products that might be more expensive that aren't drugstore brands? Probably not."
Best & Worst Vitamin C Serums of 2023
"The Bubble Day Dream brightening serum uses a different type of vitamin C aside from ascorbic acid so keep that in mind they're not as studied, researched, or as proven, but this one I find has a really nice texture and it's just pretty nice serum. It does help a little bit with brightening. It's got a lot of brightening ingredients in it."

"This is the Bubble Daydream Tone and Texture Serum. It has that hyperpigmentation power within it, but it does so in a much more gentle way. So if you've got sensitive skin and you think this one might be a little too much, opt for this one instead. Or if you're somebody in your teens that maybe has some acne marks and scarring, this would really, really help to eradicate that. [...] This would usually leave a dark mark, but if I use this [...] on top of it, it disappears without a trace. It's also really good as a spot treatment, too. This has [...] a vitamin C derivative, tranexamic acid, and alpha arbutin, which is a great pigment corrector. You've got a plethora of ceramides in here, so it's going to really nourish, hydrate, and build the barrier function of the skin. And you've got some humectants, too, to nourish and moisturize. It really just does everything. If you're somebody that's new to skin care and want somewhere to start, get this, cleanse, put this on, sunscreen, and you are good. You have a great skincare routine with just three steps. If you're somebody that has sensitive skin and you want something to kind of kick up or supercharge your hyperpigmentation game, this would also be a great option. Inexpensive, works every time. This is multi-active done right."

ALL-TIME GREATEST SERUMS 🏆 - 5 Serums Everyone Needs To Try
"This is packed full of so many actives. You've got your tranexamic acid. You've got your vitamin C, you've got your plumping and hydrating ingredients, you've got your peptides, you've got some antioxidants. It's kind of doing it all. And whilst there are lots of products out there which act as a skincare routine in a bottle in terms of their formula, I think this is probably the best of the best. I absolutely love it. I must be on bottle 20 by now. And it's just one of those great products to have in your skincare routine for when you're in a pinch, when you're in a rush and you want something that's going to deliver all that streamlined goodness into your skincare routine without having to have 10 or more steps. I love it and definitely one that I've recommended to so many people, especially if you're traveling and you want to keep things streamlined. This is one that I think everyone should have for those days that we need it."
Best CASTOR OIL SKINCARE ROUTINE - Perfect Anti Aging Routine 2025
"The Bubble Daydream Tone and Texture Serum is one of the [...] multi-active formulations [...] I go in with most frequently [...] for my morning skincare routine. It's a [...] great basis for a skincare routine. In here you've got azelaic acid, which [...] reduces acne-causing bacteria and fades hyperpigmentation. It's also got a vitamin C derivative, which is a cheeky little way of getting a vitamin C hit, and because it's a derivative you can use it alongside your retinoids and everything because it's super gentle. You've got your antioxidants and you've got a few extra peptides in here. [...] If you have very dry skin, I would use two drops of this. If you've got a particularly oily skin type, I would just go in with one and a half drops."
2023 SKINCARE AWARDS - Best In Skincare 2023
"This is the Bubble Day Dream serum, and I talk about this on the channel all the time and for good reason. This is genuinely like a one and done style product. In here you've got some vitamin C, ceramides, tranexamic acid, peptides, some calming and soothing ingredients. It hydrates but it also has all those actives going on. If you're someone that just wants a real streamlined skincare routine, get an effective cleanser, get a really good SPF, and use this in between the two of them and you have a really great skincare routine. I think it will genuinely deliver you a whole suite of results. It's a really active-packed serum, it's super super lightweight, it's almost like really watery which I love because it sinks in like that and it feels like a bubble on the skin. You can keep it in the fridge if you want additional cooling, but for me it's just so hydrating, soothing, calms everything down, and you're getting a really good dose of some great actives as well. You can buy this at Walmart and it's super affordable drugstore, but it's kind of like six or seven serums all in one."
Forgotten SKINCARE FAVOURITES - The Best Skincare Hidden Gems
"This is like a skincare routine in a bottle. [...] It was really one of only few products out there that genuinely encompassed a full skincare routine in one product. [...] In here you've got your vitamin C, you've got your niacinamide, you've got your tranexamic acid, your hydrators, your plumping ingredients, a one-stop shop for your skincare needs. Cleanse the skin, put this on, and then pop your sunscreen on and you are good to go. [...] If there's a teen in your life that's looking to get into skincare and maybe doesn't know where to start, [...] buy that teen this, it's the best place to start in a skincare routine. It's super gentle so it's not going to really irritate delicate skin, but it's going to give some benefit."
BEST SERUMS 2023 - Multi-Active Face Serums (10/10 Anti-Aging Skincare)
"This is a great option I think particularly for people in their teens, twenties that don't have a lot of fine lines and wrinkles but they still want to have that plump nourish skin, they might be trying to prevent a few breakouts, minimizing some hyperpigmentation. This is a really great light touch all-in-one serum. It might not pack the same punch that some of the other products I'm going to mention later in the video do but it's still got a place for a really nice gentle hyper effective formula. In here you've got some vitamin C, super gentle form of vitamin C, you got some niacinamide, you've got some ceramides, you've got some tranexamic acid, all of these are going to come together to deeply nourish and hydrate the skin. They're also over time going to help give you a more even skin tone and fade any acne scarring that you have. And it is so lightweight it doesn't sit like a mask on the skin. Some multi-active formulations can be on the thicker side, you know they've got a lot of ingredients in there, this isn't one of them. It actually applies really lightweight on the skin and this means it's great for those warmer summer months. It's so affordable. It's fragrance free and it doesn't have an unpleasant scent either. I think the people that can benefit the most from this are people with a sensitive skin type that want a multi-active formulation that's super gentle or people in their teens, twenties, early thirties."
BEST DRUGSTORE SKINCARE 2024 - My Top Skincare 2024
"I cannot praise this enough for those days where you're feeling lazy and you don't really want to do a full skincare routine. [...] I have it in my collection for those days where I'm running late or I'm not feeling great or whatever the reason because you can literally cleanse the skin, put some of this on, slap on your sunscreen and go out that door. This is like the perfect all-in-one skincare routine that means you can genuinely do a three-step routine in the shortest possible time. You've got niacinamide, you've got ceramides, you've got tranexamic acid, you've got some peptides in here, [...] it's got vitamin C in a derivative form so it's super gentle but packs a punch. It's really affordable, [...] somewhere in the region of about $20, so it's super affordable when you think this could replace like six different serums in your routine in one product. [...] I think it's worth every penny, such a beautiful formulation."
BEST SKINCARE 2023 - Favourites Morning Routine
"This is the Bubble Day Dream serum. It's got the vitamin C, it's got some ceramides, it's got some bright agents so this is like an equivalent to that. It's also amazing. Because it's got tranexamic acid in it, but it's in a low quantity so you could supplement it with an additional tranexamic acid serum if you're really focused on fading hyperpigmentation. For me at the moment it's just about ease and simplicity so I'm just going to keep that as like my one and done style serum."
ALL-TIME GREATEST SKINCARE PRODUCTS - They Dont Get Better Than This
"I've used this so often over the past three years and I do so on a day where I just want quick and easy skincare. If I'm in a rush, as I usually am, I wake up late, I'm running around and I just want to wash my face in the shower, stick a serum on, put my sunscreen on and go. This is a great serum to do it. In here you've got vitamin C, you've got niacinamide, you've got tranexamic acid, you've got some hydrators. It's kind of like a one-and-one for just a good skin day. It plumps, it hydrates, it works well with everything else you want to layer. So if there's that one product that you kind of just want that does it all, this is a great option. I also think this is a great one for like the teen in your life that's getting into skincare, wants something gentle but effective. [...] It's not super expensive. [...] This is a really nice gentle option that kind of just does it all. And yeah, always one of my favorites."
THESE SERUMS WILL CHANGE YOUR SKIN - Best Skincare Picks 2023
"I have been fangirling about this product for the past 2 years relentlessly. [...] This has just about everything you want for a morning skincare routine. You've got some vitamin C, you've got some niacinamide, you've got transic acid, you've got some ceramides, a beautiful blend of hydrators and humectants. It goes on like a cloud, it's just like a cloud of hydration but with all those actives built in. Using this consistently you're going to see the results that you'd expect to see from like five or six individual serums all in one. At [...] the price point, this is like next level performance and really can help you streamline things down. I think it's going to work better in the morning so I would cleanse the skin, use this, apply your SPF and you're good to go. [...] You're really going to get some potent results."
SKINCARE HOLY GRAILS 2023 - Most Repurchased Skincare 2023
"This is the Bubble Daydream serum. [...] It just gives you like the smoothest skin, it's so good. It's got tranexamic acid, vitamin C, niacinamide, ceramides, peptides, a bit of everything going on. It's like a one and done on those lazy days where you don't want to apply serum after serum. Throw this on, follow with the sunscreen, you're good to go. I love this and I love the coloration, how uplifting it is. I keep this to the morning because I think it's got everything I need for my morning skincare routine. Then on an evening when I'm feeling lazy I use this. This is [...] definitely one of my favorites and I probably buy six a year and this one will last me like two months because I use it on those days where I'm feeling super lazy."

8 HOLY GRAIL ANTI-AGING SKINCARE PRODUCTS I'D PAY DOUBLE FOR | THEY REALLY ARE THAT GOOD!
"The Bubble Daydream Tone and Texture Serum is a very affordable product that you can get at your local drugstore. Even if this tripled in price, I would still purchase this. This is honestly one of the nicest serums I've ever used to brighten the skin and to give that glow up. [...] This serum has five key ingredients to brighten the skin: vitamin C derivative, alpha arbutin, niacinamide, licorice root extract, and tranexamic acid. All five of these ingredients are going to brighten a dull complexion. And if you're struggling with post acne marks, dark spots, some type of discoloration, this can really help to fade these areas in time. You can use it everyday twice a day. I mainly use this in my morning routine. And it has a little bit of a milkiness to it. [...] You are getting 30 mls of product. And this is even great if you have sensitive skin. [...] It is quite gentle. It is very hydrating as well."

"My favorite vitamin C has been the Bubble Daydream serum, I've called it my favorite for a long time. I've come to realize there are certain products where if my skin is a bit more sensitized I can't use them, but as long as my skin is in a good place, this is a preferred serum for me. I'll admit I'm slightly compromising here, it's eighteen dollars for one fluid ounce, which isn't bad especially with the coupon at Ulta, but I've come to enjoy a higher end product with that same ingredient more than this one, even though the price per ounce on this is technically less."

Skincare EMPTIES! How Long to Finish Products, Why I Go Back to Affordable Picks...
"This tone and texture serum broke on me. I dropped the bottle in the sink and now product is actually leaking out of it, so I cannot use it anymore. It really worked well for me for a long time, but it is very frustrating when a bottle breaks like that. I'm not immediately going to run out and repurchase it, though I still may in the future."
Best AFFORDABLE Skincare Products: What WORKED for me!
"This is Bubble's Daydream serum, a tone and texture serum with vitamin C and niacinamide. The vitamin C form it uses is sodium ascorbyl phosphate, a derivative that's been studied as an alternative to benzoyl peroxide with similar acne fighting results but less irritating. As someone who can't use benzoyl peroxide, this became an alternative I fell in love with, and I still get antioxidant activity, which makes it a wonderful serum to pair with sunscreen in the mornings. I want to note this is a vitamin C alternative serum, so if you're looking for a vitamin C to fight hyperpigmentation or help increase collagen production I would not go with this one, that needs true L ascorbic acid. But if you have acne, this might be the form of vitamin C for you. Every time I stop using this to try a different form of vitamin C I have more breakouts, not because those other forms break me out, but because this one really does help me fight acne."
Yay
"The Bubble Daydream Tone and Texture Serum could be applied as the first step in a morning skincare routine after cleansing as your antioxidant and barrier support ingredient. This has niacinamide, which is good for dark spots and redness. It also has alpha arbutin, which can be helpful for dark spots, and tranexamic acid, which [...] applied topically can help with redness. So basically, these ingredients, niacinamide, alpha arbutin, tranexamic acid, together they're really great for helping to improve skin tone, even it out. If you've got dark spots, redness, blotchiness, it may help depending on what exactly you're dealing with. It also has sodium ascorbyl phosphate, which is a stable form of vitamin C that does show promise, specifically for people with oily, acne-prone skin, likely similar to how niacinamide is beneficial through its antioxidant effect."

"This serum doesn't have ascorbic acid, which is a very active form of vitamin C, it just has a derivative. I'd give it about a 7.5 out of 10. I think it's introducing people to great ingredients like trans-azelaic acid and vitamin C, niacinamide has a lot of good things in it, and it's for a very affordable price. If you can tolerate it and you're seeing results, go right ahead. I don't see any dangers in this. I like the price, one fluid ounce for $17, you can't beat that. [...] For me personally, I'd rather go for the vitamin C, E, and ferulic acid combo because I like the studies behind having that synergistic effect."
Yay
"This has sodium ascorbyl phosphate, which is what you'll find in a lot of your more budget friendly vitamin C options. [...] This is not your L-ascorbic acid, this is not your ethyl ascorbic acid, which I'm a huge fan of, but this is a serviceable vitamin C with a huge supporting cast. I'm a big fan, it's on the best list for me. [...] I would not say this is a vitamin C serum personally. I would say this has other benefits in it. I would use it in the morning after cleansing before applying my sunscreen and I would use it as my antioxidant and lightening brightening serum for complexion. It has a lot of added benefits and the vitamin C not being the heavy hitter here, and for $17 I think it packs a big punch."
Top Pick: best serum

"They have a vitamin C and niacinamide that are formulated together and stabilized, which is truly wonderful."
