What the gurus are saying

This sunscreen earns consistent praise for being deeply hydrating and comfortable to wear without stinging around the eyes or feeling greasy, making it a solid pick for those with dry skin or a compromised skin barrier. Experts highlight that it works as a two-in-one sunscreen and moisturizer, so it may suit anyone looking to simplify their routine, though one reviewer wasn't impressed by the brand overall. The affordability and fragrance-free formula are other draws that come up repeatedly.

"One of my all-time favorite sunscreens for both face and body is this one from Bondi Sands. I recommend it all the time because it's fragrance-free. It's pretty affordable. It's deeply hydrating. It doesn't burn or sting around the eyes. It's comfortable to wear. It's comfortable to reapply. And it's also moisturizing without being greasy or heavy. It claims to offer 72 hours of hydration. And I believe that it is like a really nice moisturizer. I personally like using this a lot on my legs throughout the summer months because it's just kind of like putting on a body moisturizer in the morning. I'm somebody who has a tendency towards dry skin anyway, so it's kind of like a two for one."

BEST DRUGSTORE SUNSCREENS FOR THE FACE 😎 Dermatologist @DrDrayzday
"This is one I keep going back to because it's such a great value. They also make a version that specifically says face, but they're identical in ingredients and in the way they feel and look on the skin, so just get the one that doesn't call itself a face sunscreen because it's a much better value in the long run. This is very hydrating but not greasy, sticky, or tacky, and it's pretty fast absorbing. It's never caused any blurry vision, burning, or stinging in my eyes, and there's nothing in it that's a common allergen. It's really, really good. This is probably my third or fourth bottle of it, and it's also a great everyday moisturizer."

"My favorite is the Bondi Sands SPF 50 chemical sunscreen, fragrance free. It doesn't have iron oxides or anything, but at least it doesn't claim to protect you from blue light, and it's a lot more affordable."
The BEST BUDGET FRIENDLY SKINCARE PRODUCTS OF 2022
"This is the Bondi Sands SPF 50 chemical sunscreen, which I relied on very heavily this summer. It's water resistant, no cast, but it actually makes your skin look good, it's moisturizing, it absorbs pretty quickly, and it doesn't leave a greasy sticky residue. They make a body sunscreen and a face sunscreen in this line and I've tried both, they're both fragrance-free with pretty much identical ingredients, so I just go with the non-facial product and use it on my face since it's less expensive per ounce that way. I love sunscreens that look and feel like moisturizers and aren't too sticky or greasy, and this doesn't attract lint and dust or make me feel grimy. It absorbs quickly but is moisturizing, gives a nice radiant, healthy glow, and offers good protection, and it's one you can use daily on your legs without even realizing you're wearing sunscreen."
Vlog: MY BACK-UP PLAN 🤔 SKIN CARE PRODUCT TEXTURES 😍 @DrDrayzday
"I'm wearing the Bondi Sands, it's not all chemical water resistant sunscreen, and I love it. They make one for the face and one for the body and I've used both, and I find the one for the body, or the one that doesn't say face on it, works well on the face too and is less expensive. You get a bigger bottle so it's a better value, and it's pretty comfortable to wear, it's breathable. I don't feel greasy or sticky, I don't even feel like I really have anything on."

"Bondi Sands is a brand I don't see many people talking about beyond that one viral sunscreen they have, which I actually didn't like very much."

"Bondi Sands and L'Oreal Posay sunscreens would be a really good combo actually."

"Bondi Sands SPF 50 is made up of four different UV filters as well as Vitamin E and aloe to soothe it. It is non-greasy, it is fragrance free, it is very lightweight. In terms of innovation from a UV filter standpoint it's not wow or groundbreaking, but it is a very tried and true that doesn't seem to irritate and is fragrance-free."

"Bondi Sands has this SPF 50 sunscreen lotion for the body. I've seen a lot of people say that they just buy this because they love it so much. What I have found is that this is really moisturizing as well and it feels really great. I do find it to be a little bit richer, so if you have dry skin you might love just using the body one for your face and your body, but if you have oily skin you might want to stick with the face one and use the body one strictly for the body, but it feels really nice and light too. It's very moisturizing. I do like to let it set for a little bit before I go in with my makeup just so it forms that nice perfect layer. Really give this a try if you like a dewy finish for your sunscreen, if you like to have a moisturizing sunscreen, this is it. It's only like ten dollars and you can get it at Walgreens."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.
