What the gurus are saying

The experts who reviewed it raise a concern worth taking seriously: menthol and fragrance in the formula may actually dry lips out over time, creating a cycle where people keep reapplying hoping for relief that never comes. This means anyone with persistently chapped lips may want to steer clear and look instead for balms built on gentler, hydrating bases without menthol. The gurus don't recommend this one for regular lip care.

"Blistex and so on contain fragrance and Menthol and ingredients that actually dry out our lips more so we're addicted to that lip product because we keep reapplying thinking that it's going to heal our lips but at the end of the day it never does it just makes our lips worse and worse. I remember being in high school using Blistex and I couldn't understand why my lips were not healing and I was just so obsessed with using the Blistex because I just wanted my lips to heal more and then I soon realized I thought this is the product that is actually causing the issue."

"Menthol is a popular lip care ingredient in brands like Blistex or CarMax so I always don't recommend those."
