What the gurus are saying

Experts split sharply on this product. Beyond50Skin tried it and was satisfied enough to also test the brand's cleansing oil, but Cassandra Bankson had a very different experience. She found it didn't work well for her skin, disliked the smell, and said the serum actually irritated her face, making it one of her least favorite Biossance products.

"I've used their serum and now I'm going to be using their cleansing oil"

"This Squalane Phytoretinol serum is absolute trash. This is one of my least favorite products from Biossance. The product itself smells, it doesn't work well, it burns my freaking face. I absolutely hate this."
~Yay
"This has squalane in it that is going to also just make it even better tolerated and provide that back-end moisturizing effect. It does smell good. It's not a fragrance mix, and there is actually a difference. This does have like naturally fragrance things like citrus, but it doesn't have like a mix of a combination of just a barrage of other things. It's like a subtle smell. It also has niacinamide, just another really well-rounded plug-and-play ingredient for a lot of skin conditions. Then it also has glycerin, just another humectant and moisturizing ingredient."
