What the gurus are saying

Gurus overwhelmingly rank this as their top micellar water choice, particularly praising its effectiveness at removing eye makeup without harsh tugging. The consensus highlights its gentleness, efficiency, and longevity, with reviewers noting a small amount goes a long way. A consistent minor gripe is a slight stinging sensation around sensitive eyes and incomplete makeup removal on its own, though most use it as a first cleanse before a secondary cleanser. Some prefer decanting it into a spray bottle for better coverage and product efficiency.

"I love bioderma, this is a micellar water that I travel with. I actually put this in a spritzer. I feel like I get way more mileage out of it this way by spraying it on my face and then taking the cotton and breaking up my makeup."

"I have sensitive eyes and so traditionally I always use a micellar water and the van cream but if I'm being honest it burns my eyes a little bit. I never feel like I get it off well enough and it was something that I've always been struggling with."

"I always do my first step of my double cleanse which includes the Bioderma Sensibio H2O and what I like to do is spray it directly onto my face. Each spritz is like I don't know how many drops or mini droplets of it, it allows it to go into all the tiny nooks and crannies and I like to focus it on the mascara and the eyeliner."

"Bioderma in my opinion is superior. I've tried them all. Bioderma is the best one when it comes to micellar water. The pink cap is for sensitive skin and the blue cap if you have drier skin."

"I double cleanse with Bioderma's micellar water because unfortunately washing twice even with a cream cleanser is not great at getting the makeup off, and so I do marry these two every night and that is what I start my nighttime routine with."

"Bioderma is my micellar water of choice. I actually prefer their Sensibio H2O to their other option. I do feel like sometimes I get blemishes with that one, but a trick I do is I put it in a spritzer because I get way more mileage out of it than just soaking up a gauze."

"I have used this product for many years. This is Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water, it is a pink top micellar water, but do not confuse this one with the Garnier one. The Garnier one looks identical and they can often be confused, but this in my experience is the superior micellar water. It does have a little spice on the skin, very, very light. If you're very sensitive, you're going to feel it. My eyes are extremely sensitive, so I felt it slightly around the eyes. There is some makeup still left behind. It's not great at cleaning your face, but again, it is an active cleanser, so maybe you want to go in first with a gentle cleanser before going in with this."

Skincare I’d Spend My Money On AGAIN (30 Mini Reviews)
"It's Bioderma's Sensibio H2O, and it is my go-to eye makeup remover. So, I have both the huge bottle that sits in the bathroom, and by the way, this is so big. I probably wouldn't buy one this big next time. I think it lasted me 8 months. And then I have the little teeny tiny bottle that I use for travel. I always repurchase these."

"I use it specifically for eye makeup removal. Bioderma's Micellar Water. I have tried all of the brands and this in my opinion is just the best. It's just for gently removing mascara before I double cleanse because I hate that smudgy black mascara everywhere thing. And in my opinion, nothing beats it."

"I use a few pumps of Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water on each eye. I put it on a little cotton round. I lightly press the cotton swab into my eyelashes and I let it just sit there for a second and then I gently sweep it away. That means there's no pulling and there's no tugging. I've tried just about every single brand of micellar water on this planet and this is the one that I keep coming back to again and again. This thing is great because it's gentle and it's effective. It's kind of like a magnet for makeup."

"If I'm wearing eye makeup then I always start with Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water. I have been using this for years and years and years and I have honestly tried pretty much every micellar water on the market and this one is by far my favorite. It's the biggest damn bottle I ever did see. It's 850 mls, it's almost 30 fluid ounces, and while of course it's a better value, it's really hard to store. I won't be repurchasing this particular size but I will always repurchase this product. I've been using this more than 15 years."

"The one that she is using from Bioderma is great. I've recommended them many times. They're good, especially if you have more sensitive skin, you know, just for removing makeup, sunscreen, excess dirt, and oil from the skin before you go in with your normal water-based cleanser."

"I wish it were fragrance free though because I don't like scented face stuff. If this weren't horrible, I'd say it's a great value. But I personally detest this micellar water in particular. If I were to use a micellar water, it would be to help remove my mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow. And this burns, burns and stings around the eyes and burns my cheeks, too."

"I will use my Bioderma micellar water on a cotton pad, and I typically will do this if I'm wearing like a ton of makeup, and then I'll go in with my prequel cleanser. The beauty of a double cleanse like this is that all the steps, all of the products you're using are super gentle, so you're not stripping your skin even though you're cleansing twice and very thoroughly."

STOP This Now—Your Anti-Aging Routine Depends on It | Dr. Sam Ellis
"One of my absolute favorite ways to remove makeup quickly is with micellar water. If you've been on this channel for any amount of time you know I have a love affair with the Bioderma water. You basically just shake it onto a cotton pad, wipe wipe wipe. It's just so much more gentle than a makeup wipe. Yeah, I would rather you use a makeup wipe over nothing, but I would prefer that you use something like micellar water, which is a lot more gentle and doesn't leave your skin feeling tight or irritated."
My Sensitive Skin Nighttime Skincare Routine as a Dermatologist | Dr. Sam Ellis
"One of my absolute favorite cleansers for sensitive skin and honestly just like favorite cleansers in general is the Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water. I go through one of these probably once every four to six months. I particularly love this for sensitive skin because it has very few ingredients, so very few things to potentially be sensitive to. If you're potentially trying to sus out if you have an allergy or an irritation reaction to something in one of your products, if you're working with something that has 10 or fewer ingredients, that does make that process a little easier. This is also fragrance-free. There are a lot of people that have sensitivities to fragrance or it can make you sensitive to other things in your products, so why not just take it out of the equation. You can think of it like a makeup remover, gentle cleanser all in one. I like to put it on a cotton round, saturate the cotton round with it, and then gently swipe it over my face."

Summer Skincare Empties: Tower 28, K18, Prequel, & More! | Dr. Sam Ellis
"The Bioderma micellar water was part of my Holy Grail skincare and it continues to be a staple for me. I use this as a first cleanse to remove makeup or sunscreen. I often put it on a cotton pad and swipe it over my face or eyes, and if I have heavy eye makeup, it's really nice to go in with something like this first to get a lot of the gunk off, and then I'll go in with a more gentle cleanser to finish things off. I really like micellar water if you're on the lazier side when it comes to cleansing your face because you can leave this by your nightstand with some cotton pads there, and instead of makeup wipes, this is a nice substitute that's a little less irritating and a lot more gentle on your skin. The thing with micellar water is you actually can leave it on your skin and you don't have to rinse it off. I still like to go in with a double cleanse most nights and rinse it off afterward, but if you're using this as your only cleanse or on the go, you don't have to rinse it off."
Dermatologist's Skincare Tips for People Who Don't Like Skincare | Dr. Sam Ellis
"One of my favorite super easy cleansers to use is the Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water. You essentially take some of the micellar water, pour it onto a cotton round, and swipe it over the face to help you remove things like sunscreen and the dirt and oils that accumulate on the face over the course of the day. The reason I like this one so much is it's very satisfying to use because if you have any dirt or debris that's on your face you can actually see it come off on the cotton round, and the fact that you see how effective that cleanser is being makes it more likely that you're going to stick with it. I also really like micellar water because it's less messy than washing your face, you're not worried about splashing water all around, and you can also do this anywhere, you don't have to do it in your bathroom. For people who are really bad about being consistent about washing their face, I tell them to just leave some cotton rounds in micellar water on their bedside table and even if they've jumped into bed at night they realize they didn't wash their face, they can reach over and do a two second skincare routine. The other thing that's really nice about micellar water is you don't have to rinse it off."

"I tend to use my micellar water and Bioderma has been my go-to lately. I love this, it's almost out. I put this on a cotton round and kind of wipe my face, especially around the eyes to make sure I remove all that nighttime skincare routine. I always make sure I go down my neck and chest."

"I love the micellar water because I feel like it does a good job at removing my nighttime skincare routine but it doesn't irritate my skin. It really might be an overkill but my sensitive skin tolerates it just fine. This particular micellar water also contains fructooligosaccharides to help hydrate and maintain skin barrier. Micellar water dries pretty quick but I do allow it to dry completely before my next step."

"I was leaving remnants of my makeup on even when I thought I've taken it all off, even though I've double cleansed twice. The micellar water, it's the Bioderma one that I use, takes off the remnants so that my skin is squeaky clean in order to be able to then put on moisturizer."

My Favourite Innovative Products of 2023
"I have raved about the Bioderma micellar water so many times it is hands down my favorite no rinse cleanser. Micellar waters have surfactants in them, these are the cleansing ingredients that you'll find in every cleansing product like shampoo body wash even dishwashing detergent, but there are a huge range of surfactants available. The innovation with these micellar waters was to find surfactants that clean well but they aren't irritating if you leave them on your skin. Some micellar waters don't do this well which is why a lot of people who have tried maybe one or two say you absolutely need to rinse micellar waters, but this one was actually designed for and tested on sensitive skin so this is really really gentle and works really well for most people. I found this so useful for evenings when I couldn't handle washing my face at a sink and dealing with all the water. It's also been really useful for washing my face when I'm trying to avoid a particular area like a few weeks ago I microbladed my brows and I had to kind of like paint around my brows. I went through another few bottles."

"Bioderma is an amazing, amazing micellar water actually made to leave on the skin. With those in mind who live in areas where their water isn't as clean, you can leave this on your skin. I leave this on my skin with no issue."

"This is a yearly favorite and I have loved this for so many years. This was actually the first product that I started using when I was starting to get into skincare and makeup to remove my makeup at night time or my sunscreen. It is excellent because it is really quick to use. Honestly, you don't have to rinse this off after you've used it. I like to use this for those quick removals of lip stains or lipsticks, or if I have a specific makeup look going on but I want to switch out the lip look for evening. I will use this on a cotton pad or a Q-tip and wipe off that lip product and then go right in with a new lip, and you don't have to rinse this off. If I'm creating that winged out look and need to clean up the edges, I will put this on a cotton pad or Q-tip to clean up that area and make that winged out look more defined."
