What they flagged

  • Pricey for a product most people don't need

What the gurus are saying

At $59 for two ounces, the decent ingredient list (sulfur for drawing out impurities and zinc for calming) doesn't justify the price when you could build similar benefits from cheaper standalone products. The eucalyptus oil and witch hazel don't strengthen the case. Though as a fifteen-minute rinse-off the essential oils matter less than in longer-wear treatments, both reviewers felt the price premium still wasn't justified.

"This zinc mask is 59, which is not bad. It's basically bentonite clay, titanium dioxide, glycerin, zinc oxide, witch hazel, eucalyptus oil, and some sulfur. I don't know if I would spend my money on this. You could definitely get like a clay mask or a sulfur mask, but with the eucalyptus oil I wouldn't do it. I would do the Face Reality plus The Ordinary and I would still be saving my money."

"The mask has sulfur and zinc, both really amazing ingredients, sulfur for drawing out impurities and zinc for its calming benefits. For a two ounce bottle it's fifty nine dollars, so not cheap, not ridiculously expensive. It does have eucalyptus essential oil and witch hazel leaf extract, which I don't love, and it has essential oils in it, which I don't love, but considering it's a face mask you rinse off after about fifteen minutes, I don't think it's too big of an issue so long as you aren't using it every day. Honestly, I think it's a pretty good ingredient list for the price point, but it's definitely luxury, so I don't know if I would pay that price point for this type of product, mostly because for most people clay masks aren't really necessary. But because she's performing and this is afterwards, I think it can be effective in helping her skin."
