What they liked

  • Lightweight, mattifying texture
  • Gentle enough for sensitive skin
  • Centella and vitamin C together in one serum

What they flagged

Nothing. None of the experts who reviewed it raised a problem.

    What the gurus are saying

Pairing centella and vitamin C in one serum is what gurus keep circling back to, with research suggesting the two together amplify collagen production far more than vitamin C alone, making it especially potent for fine lines and loss of elasticity. The texture earns consistent praise for feeling lightweight and creamy without heaviness, and because it uses a gentler vitamin C derivative rather than pure L-ascorbic acid, those with sensitive skin who have struggled with other vitamin C products may find this one tolerable. It's affordable and comes in a pump that keeps the formula stable for months, though the vitamin C concentration (around 10%) is lower than some alternatives, which makes it a good starting point for sensitive types but may appeal less to those chasing maximum strength.

"This is a stabilized vitamin C, so it doesn't oxidize and has a super long shelf life, with centella asiatica, and using vitamin C and centella together gives you four times the additional collagen versus using vitamin C on its own. If you are using vitamin C for its anti-aging, this is the one that you should be using, it's a one and done, really potent. It's somewhere in the region of about £13, it doesn't get more affordable than this."

Best Korean Vitamin C Serums - KOREAN SKINCARE FOR GLASS SKIN
"I love this because it combines Centella asiatica and vitamin C together in the same product. This is the game changer because studies show that if you use Centella asiatica and vitamin C together, it quadruples the amount of additional collagen produced versus just using vitamin C alone. [...] If you're using your vitamin C for anti-aging and boosting collagen, go for this [...] because that's where you're going to get the very best results. It's still going to work against fading hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and discoloration, but I think this really is most potent against fine lines and wrinkles, used to boost collagen and elastin. [...] There are very few products in the skincare world that combine Centella asiatica and vitamin C together, and if you're not doing that in your anti-aging skincare routine, you're missing out. This is a super easy way to do it in a streamlined way. I absolutely love it."
Ultimate KOREAN SKINCARE For ANTI AGING - Secret To Firmer Skin
"If that's you and you want your Centella and vitamin C fix in the same serum, but you want a longer shelf life, I would opt for the vitamin C by Beauty of Joseon, which is amazing. Super inexpensive. I love the packaging. I love the formula. I love the stability of it. It's just ticking so many boxes. [...] I think it's a really easy and streamlined way of getting both those actives in the same formula."
OFFICIAL BEST DUO For ANTI-AGING - Better Than Retinol?
"Beauty of Joseon with that Light On Serum combines a 10 percent concentration of vitamin C alongside a high dose of centella asiatica so you're going to get the same great results as with the V Green one but I would say this one is probably more applicable to sensitive skin types with a lower concentration of vitamin C. If you're a little intimidated by vitamin C you want to start on a slightly lower end, that Beauty of Joseon Light On Serum will give you the same great result in the long term in terms of boosting collagen and elastin production but with less risk of sensitivity in the short term."
NEXT LEVEL VITAMIN C SERUMS - Maximum Glow Pairings
"I've used this, actually got a sample of it, used it, loved it, and I have actually put a full bottle on order. [...] You've got centella asiatica in this case, over 60% of the serum is that centella, you've got a 10% concentration of vitamin C, so less vitamin C than with other options but still getting that combination. [...] If you've got sensitive skin type or you just want somewhere to start, I think the Beauty of Joseon is a great option, slightly cheaper, lower concentration so it'll really work with sensitive skin types."
    No1 KOREAN SKINCARE BRAND 2026 - Best K-Skincare Ever
"The Beauty of Joseon Light On Serum combines vitamin C and centella asiatica all together in one serum. [...] A recent study showed that if you use centella asiatica alongside vitamin C, it quadruples the results that you get. So if anyone's using vitamin C without centella asiatica, honestly, you're missing a trick. I know it's easy to just slot a centella serum into your routine on top of or beside your vitamin C, but if you want to streamline and you want a one and done, this is the serum for you. High-dose vitamin C, high-dose centella asiatica altogether. Absolutely stunning. [...] This is something when I talk about innovation that you don't see a lot of other brands offering. [...] They followed the science and know that this is a dream pairing. Use them together in good concentrations in one serum."
Worlds BESTSELLING KOREAN SKINCARE 2026 - Hottest K-Skincare Ever
"This is a vitamin C serum with a high dose of stabilized vitamin C alongside centella asiatica. You want to use this one in the morning. A study showed that if you use centella asiatica and vitamin C together it quadruples the results you see versus just using vitamin C. So this is like doing the hard work for you. Yes, you could just get a centella and use it alongside your existing vitamin C or you could get this and it's a one and done. I personally love this for that. I live for streamlining. This helps. No notes. They are just so so well formulated products. I love everything Beauty of Joseon do. I would say these are my top two products from them."
World Best KOREAN SKINCARE SERUM 2026 - This Changed My Skin!
"This has a high dose stabilized vitamin C alongside a good dose of centella asiatica all in one. [...] It comes in a pump applicator, which keeps things fresher, and because the vitamin C [...] is stabilized [...] it stays fresh for the longest time, [...] good for 12 months once opened. The centella asiatica is calming and soothing too, so it's really a two in one for your skincare routine. It's a beautiful cream that sinks in really nicely, not grainy or gritty like some serums can be, and you can use it alongside all your other actives. I use two pumps across the whole face and neck every morning. The last time I bought this I only paid around £11 for it, though there is a big price differential so it's worth shopping around. I found myself buying bottle after bottle after bottle because this just genuinely delivers."

"I have had a lifelong struggle trying to find a vitamin C serum that I will consistently use because it's so difficult to find one that won't leave your skin looking greasy or shiny, and then Beauty of Joseon dropped a bomb. They released the Centella and Vitamin C Light On Serum and the very first time I used this I was like oh my God I fear I may be obsessed. I freaking love this formula. It's such a good daytime serum that just leaves the skin looking so smooth, soft and supple without any shininess. It has 68% centella asiatica extract, but it also has 10% 3O ethyl sorbic acid, a stabilized form of vitamin C to help get you the antioxidant protection throughout the day but also help to reduce hyperpigmentation and dark spots and even your skin tone. It also has a ton of natural extracts and peptides. The first time I used this I was like wow the experience is so lovely, but I was wrong thinking the ingredients weren't great. I have absolutely loved using this one. I've been using it non-stop. If you're someone who struggles to consistently use vitamin C or you just want a good daytime serum that will help to protect your skin without compromising how it looks or feels, this is your next best bet. I have sung this product from the rooftops ever since I discovered it."

"I have to say this serum I love it. It feels so lightweight on the skin. It does almost feel like a lightweight moisturizer but it's so mattifying. I don't feel like there's anything heavy on my skin. [...] Everything from their range I'm obsessed with and so far it feels so nice on my skin. I'm definitely going to keep using this one."

How to Get Rid of Dark Circles & Spots (2024)
"I've been using this product every day for months now and I am freaking obsessed. Beauty of Joseon Light On Serum really redefined vitamin C serums for me. Vitamin C is an incredible ingredient for daily use that not only protects your skin from getting hyperpigmentation and dark spots but also fights against things like pollution, premature aging, and helps protect your skin from excess sun damage. It's one of those ingredients that's amazing for everyday use, but if you're someone who struggles with dark spots it's like an absolute must. You need to be using it every day. But not every vitamin C serum is totally pleasant to use, tends to make your face look a little greasy. This serum has such an elegant consistency that beautifully goes onto the skin, almost has like this softening blurring effect that's also deeply nourishing and hydrating but keeps your skin looking super balanced and doesn't leave that greasy finish that vitamin C sometimes can. It primarily uses 10% of 3-O ethyl ascorbic acid, which is a stabilized form of vitamin C, and it also has other amazing ingredients like centella asiatica extract which is great for reducing redness and sensitivity that you might experience throughout the day."

"I've been using every day, every morning, a pump or two of the Beauty of Joseon vitamin C serum. This is a very basic vitamin C serum. It's not the intense, collagen-producing vitamin C, but it's just a calming, brightening vitamin C, and I'm happy with that. I really like it for brightening and I like it for daytime. It's nice and lightweight. If you've been looking for a vitamin C serum and you want something brightening that's going to help dark spots fade, this is fantastic and super gentle."

Vitamin C serums and my skin have had a complicated relationship - a lot of them have broken me out, and it's been really difficult to find one that actually works. But the ones that seem to be the best for my skin right now are Korean, and it's very, very gentle."

"Vitamin C is one of the beautiful ingredients we can use, but on its own it's really not going to do much for us. The third ingredient in here is obviously glycerin, and I think the only product mistake they made with this product is that they added citrus peel extract, which actually can be quite irritating. Other than that, this is actually a lovely vitamin C serum. You can use this in the morning after you cleanse. It's got a skin neutral pH. I love it except for the citrus peel extract, which is why I wouldn't give this a high rating and I probably wouldn't use it myself."

"Another serum if you're looking for an actual brightening serum with centella is the one from Beauty of Joseon, their Light On Serum that contains centella and vitamin C, and this vitamin C is an ethyl vitamin C, so a vitamin C derivative that has mostly brightening properties along with centella. That is, I think, 68% centella extract. Another really nice creamy but hydrating serum, great to use for those who are looking for a brightening product that is more gentle to help even out uneven skin tone."

"You can use this morning and night. It is not harsh or stripping on the skin, but it really does help to encourage the pimples and the breakouts to calm down, to slowly flatten out, and to help over time boost your anti-acne routines. [...] They're not using the pure form of vitamin C, L-ascorbic acid. They're actually using a derivative known as 3-O ethyl ascorbic acid. This derivative is great because it gives you a lot of the same benefits as vitamin C, which is brightening and antioxidant care and a little bit of that well-aging and collagen stimulation. [...] If you're particularly sensitive skin, if vitamin C pure ascorbic acid has not worked for you in the past or you're just looking for a gentler type of product, this would be the way to go with the derivatives because it has to take an additional step to convert on the skin, and that conversion process is what makes it a little bit more gentle and a little bit more tolerable for sensitive skin."

"Beauty of Joseon really does pull ahead and there are some key reasons here. Number one is the texture. The Beauty of Joseon texture is going to be almost foolproof for anyone to use, even if you're a beginner in skincare. I don't think you're gonna have a hard time adding this into your skincare routine. I can see this working for oily skin, combo skin, dry skin, normal skin, all skin types. It's just a little bit more foolproof, so I always feel comfortable recommending this knowing that I'm talking to a variety of people."

"This one's okay. It's got a nice texture, super light, which is nice. No fragrance, super light texture, got kind of a gel texture to it. They don't use ascorbic acid, which is my personal favorite type of vitamin C, and to be honest I didn't notice a ton of brightening. It does have a nice texture, it has some moisturizing benefits and things like that, but the form of vitamin C they used in it just didn't overly impress me. It just isn't the most exciting vitamin C serum."

Beauty of Joseon New! 🆕🍊 Centella and Vitamin C Serum First Impressions Review
"Looking at the ingredient list, I'd say it's pretty friendly for acne prone skin. The only ingredients of note for really acne prone skin are carbomer and sorbate and isostearate. I'm not totally sold that ethyl ascorbic acid is as good as ascorbic acid, but for sensitive skin some people have issues with the low pH of ascorbic acid that it needs to function, so some people could be potentially irritated by it, especially in some serums where it's 20 percent. Ethyl ascorbic acid feels a little bit more gentle, but there's still not a whole ton of independent studies on it. This is really affordable, it feels nice on my skin, it doesn't feel sticky, which is the main issue with vitamin C. I think that was their whole marketing thing behind this: it eliminates all the issues that ascorbic acid has, which is it's sticky, it can be irritating, it can have a strong hot dog water smell, and they try to eliminate all that in this and they did a good job. There's no strong fragrance, there is something noticeable which could be from that citrus or from that gardenia, not sure which one, but otherwise it feels nice."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Vitamin C

Topical vitamin C is an antioxidant with reasonable evidence for dullness and uneven tone. It breaks down in light and air, so how a product is formulated and packaged matters as much as the percentage on the front.

    Source: DermNet

    Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
