What the gurus are saying

The texture earns consistent praise: a quick-absorbing, jelly-like gel that applies invisibly and feels refreshing, especially for those with oily skin, though it can read shiny on some complexions. The catches are its fragrance and alcohol content (the sixth ingredient), which some gurus find unnecessary, and it sits in the shadow of Beauty of Joseon's original sun relief formula that others prefer for a richer feel. Worth a patch test if scent sensitivity is a concern, and likely your best pick if a serum texture and neutral finish matter most.

"This is a really good sunscreen. It's lightweight, it's clear, it's elegant, it's very serumy, and I completely understand why people love it. But I kept comparing it to their original sun relief sunscreen, and for my skin, it just wins out every time. Because this one is slightly lighter, slightly less nourishing, and as my skin gets drier with age, I've realized I just want a richer, cushier finish. So this didn't lose out because it was bad. It lost out because it has a very strong competition in its own house."

"It uses US filters and it sucks. It smells and it's less effective than their other sunscreens which are wonderful. It's got fragrance in it, I don't love the scent, but it's got a really nice texture. It's not going to compare to any other sunscreens sold anywhere else."

Beauty of Joseon New! 🆕🌞😍 Ginseng Moist Sun Serum SPF 50 Sunscreen Review & How to Use
"I was really excited about it because Beauty of Joseon has some interesting sunscreens there. This one came out and I didn't even look at the ingredients list, I just ordered it, and then when it came in my first test of it, it had fragrance in it so I was a little bit disappointed by that. They say this nourishing serum features SPF 50 plus PA plus plus plus to protect skin against harmful UV rays, infused with 30 percent ginseng extract, the anti-aging formula enhances skin elasticity and keeps skin hydrated, formulated with two percent niacinamide to brighten skin for a glowing appearance and a lightweight texture that just goes onto the skin without a sticky after feel. In terms of ingredients, it does contain alcohol as the sixth ingredient, and apparently they included the fragrance to cover up the smell of the alcohol, which I'd rather they didn't do since alcohol really doesn't have much smell. It has an initial smell but it goes away within seconds."

"This is the Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Moist Sun Serum. I like it. It wasn't irritating at all."

"It's a gel, a refreshing formula. It makes your skin actually feel moist, but then it absorbs so beautifully. If you want something lightweight, this one is it. This one actually comes out like a translucent cream, almost a tinge of yellow because of those antioxidants, and then it just blends in with barely a touch. If you are someone who hates blending in your sunscreen or hates the feel of sunscreen, this SPF 50 is so good, and it's PA+++, meaning it prevents from the UVA and the UVB rays. One of the best, so much better than the other ones that people are talking about, and I feel like people are sleeping on this, but this absolutely gets an award for the best lightweight gel texture."

"It's a lightweight quick absorbing serum that I think is really great for those with oily skin. It comes out yellow in color but feels more like a jelly. It rubs in really easily, so it's like a lightweight jelly that is really hydrating. It definitely has a strong scent, so if you are sensitive to scent you might want to be mindful of that. But it feels honestly so good on the skin. This feels like an elegant, nice, hydrating lightweight serum in of itself and it has the added benefit of sunscreen. It's even easier to reapply because you can just apply it in layers on top of each other throughout the day because it is so lightweight and absorbs so easily and it doesn't build up and cause pilling. It also contains niacinamide and ginseng extract in addition, plus Jasmine oil for its soothing properties. The main thing that sets this product apart is really the texture, so this one can be for oily acne prone skin."

"I finished up this Beauty of Joseon sunscreen. I rather enjoyed this, it wasn't mind-blowing. I prefer their other sunscreen a little bit better. This one isn't like wildly different but it was pretty nice. The Ginseng Moist Sun Serum, very good filters, SPF 50 PA4 plus. This is nice and light in consistency, but for me personally I just prefer their original formula and I would go back to that. As a matter of fact, I have a backup and one in progress. But this was not too bad, just not one that I would necessarily repurchase per se."

"I actually prefer the Beauty of Joseon Sun Serum because I find it's completely gone the moment you put it on. This is the one everybody knows about and loves, but I actually like the sun serum because it's really skincare that's just sneaking around, it happens to be a brilliant sunscreen at the same time. I put this stuff all over my body, I find that motivational, like anything uncovered, my arms and stuff."

"The texture is a really unique gel type of texture, there's no cream or lotion involved here, this is a true straight gel texture. It spreads really evenly and beautifully and thinly across the skin. It feels so light, so breathable, it is really remarkable how refreshing this feels on the skin. The finish is sort of satin but on certain skin types it's actually going to look a lot more dewy, maybe even a little bit more wet. As I've played with this sunscreen more and taken in more feedback from different skin types, especially oily folks, I am finding that this is actually a lot more shiny than it first seemed."

The NEW Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Sunscreen is here... I have thoughts...
"She really did enjoy the formula. She liked that it didn't have a heavy scent to it. She could smell the alcohol at first, a little bit of the essential oils, but it went away so quickly. She really loved the finish and felt very protected with it. This is definitely something that is going to work if you do have an oily skin type, especially because there's no emollience here, there's no wetness to this, there's no moisturization or shininess to this. So that gel texture is going to really be a great match for your skin, even for combination folks. That neutral finish is impressive. It's not common to get a neutral finish especially in a Korean sun care product because in Korea and South Korea that slightly dewy kind of finish to skin care is definitely popular, and so it's hard to find a sun product that doesn't contribute to that. Just the finish and the texture alone are really impressive. I don't think the denatured alcohol is harmful, and I don't think the essential oils are harmful to the skin at all. If you're sensitive to it, that's a separate thing."
