    What the gurus are saying

This serum stops burning, stinging, and itching almost on contact through Trp Regulin, an ingredient that shuts off the nerve signals behind those sensations rather than just calming inflammation. The lightweight gel sinks in quickly, bringing instant relief to irritated or flared skin; over time with consistent barrier care, it also helps strengthen the skin's resilience. It's earned trust during allergy season and whenever sensitivity spikes.

"The Avène Cicalfate+ Serum brings immediate relief to irritated, itchy, and inflamed skin. Avène uses an ingredient that they call TRP Regul, but you'll find it on the ingredients list as tert-butyl cyclohexanol. And this actually works by targeting the nerve receptors in your skin that are responsible for that burning, stinging, and itching sensation. It actually stops the sensation in its tracks. That is why when you use this product, that feeling—that cranky feeling in your skin, like nothing makes your skin happy anymore—this serum will make your skin happy. Within a couple of minutes of putting it on, you will feel finally my skin feels relief. All I wanted was for the irritation to stop nagging at me. This serum does that and it does it beautifully. And this is such a helpful friend for me when I go through allergy season. This serum saves me every single time."

4 Steps to Glowing Skin in Winter
"I've really fallen in love with this. It's one of those kind of quiet serums where I was like I don't really know if it's doing anything, but if your skin is red, if your skin is inflamed, if it's irritated, that's when it's going to make a huge impression on you because this is so soothing, this is so calming and skin strengthening. The ingredients list can trick you a little bit. They're actually using an ingredient that they have patented themselves called Trp Regulin, and this is proven to help reduce redness, irritation, stinging, burning, and itching on the skin quite quickly. It's been one that I've been reaching for a lot of this winter when I'm feeling that little sting, that little sensitivity on my skin, the redness. It really has been quite reliable for that. I really do like the texture. It's so easy to work into your routine."

"It has a lightweight gel texture that's very hydrating. It sinks into the skin very quickly. It's not sticky or tacky. So I see it working really for any skin type, just anybody who needs that instant soothing. This is still doing that very reliably. I had a few instances where my skin just felt a little raw, like my skin barrier was pushed a little bit too far, my sensitivities peaked up and my skin was looking a little bit red. And I will just put this into my skincare routine whenever I'm feeling a little bit of that irritation. And it just calms my skin down so quickly. It's not going to instantly solve all your problems on application, but it will bring you instant relief from the symptoms. And then over time you will notice that your skin is starting to feel stronger, especially if you are building in the rest of your barrier care. They should really name this a relief serum. It does say it's intensely restorative on the bottle, and yes, but also just relief. Instant relief from any irritation, itchiness, burning, stinging that you might have."

"This serum is so unassuming, it looks really boring from the ingredients list, and it has a nice lightweight hydrating gel texture, but I was so incredibly impressed at how instantly this product soothes my skin. Whenever my skin is flared up, irritated, itchy, inflamed, burning, or stinging, this on contact within a minute calms my skin down like nobody's business. There's an ingredient in here clinically proven to reduce burning, stinging, and irritation on contact, it's incredibly quick working and intercepts the irritation signal, so it doesn't just soothe the inflammation after it happens, it stops it at the source, and it actually helps restore the skin barrier too. This is my go-to since early 2024 for burning, stinging, irritated skin."

"It's from Avène and it's their Cicalfate+ line, the Cicalfate+ Concentrate Blemish Control Serum. I discovered this product and I really have been loving it and I still use it regularly, but really used it twice a day in summertime because I tend to break out more with the sweat and the heat and hormonal acne. I really love this product. I love how effective it was for me but also at the same time how gentle it was. I really recommend Avène as a brand that formulates beautiful, elegant products for those that struggle with eczema-prone skin, rosacea, and sensitive skin. They do it in such a way that is very thoughtful, fragrance-free, but also in their packaging and details in the sense that most of the products are packaged in a sterile way, so it really reduces or removes the need for preservatives, which some individuals with sensitive skin can have issues with. All of the products contain their thermal spring water, which has been shown by like 150 studies to soothe and calm sensitive, eczema-prone skin, and it is really the core of their hydrotherapy center."
