What the gurus are saying

Gurus praise the formula's ability to soothe eczema and barrier damage without the typical greasy feel of traditional ointments. The 40% glycerin provides strong moisture retention and the oat has documented anti-inflammatory benefits. The main complaint is stickiness and a filmy residue, though some find it less tacky than expected. Overall enthusiasm is high, particularly for those with sensitive or compromised skin who struggle with compliance due to texture.

"This is the Aveeno Skin Relief Healing Ointment. This is a glycerin forward as it's called out on the label, skin protectant. Glycerin can be sticky. This does not feel greasy as they claim, which is typically the case with glycerin. If you don't like greasy feels, but you're in the market for skin protectant, something that's going to really lock hydration in and not allow anything ideally to get into the skin, glycerin is another one that tends to be very comfortable on the skin. I really enjoy it. It is $19.99 for this package of two 7.2 oz tubes and one 2 oz tube for on-the-go. I'm so ecstatic to see this here."

"I finished the Aveeno Skin Relief Healing Ointment. This one was okay for me. It's a glycerin rich skin protectant. I liked it, but it's very sticky. I ended up using this a lot on my hands, but then getting kind of this sticky, filmy feeling, which is not surprising since glycerin is sticky. But this was actually really nice for problematic areas of eczema. Like if you have eczema where it's flared up, raw, red, and rashy, this is very nice. It's very nice because it creates this protective seal and oat doesn't sting for me at least. Ointments are much less likely to sting compared to lotions, which have more water content and commonly cause stinging for people."

"Aveeno Skin Relief Healing Ointment just came out and is petrolatum free. It has shea butter, glycerin, and soothing oat. The oat technology in Aveeno is special because we've seen evidence in papers of oat being anti-inflammatory. It's soothing, great for those with atopic dermatitis and eczema. It's very soothing to those with cracked skin who have exposed nerves and they're very itchy or with pain. Oat will help soothe it. I've used this on my lips, I've used it on my hands and it does rub in well without that tacky feeling."

"This gives you the benefits of a traditional ointment like protection and repair, but without the heavy greasy feel. What else makes this unique is that it doesn't have petrolatum in it like traditional ointments, but rather 40% glycerin, which helps provide up to 72 hours of moisture. As a dermatologist who treats a lot of patients with skin barrier damage and even conditions like eczema, I know that ointments are a mainstay of therapy, but I've seen that compliance from my patients can be so low because of that greasy feel. That's why I love and recommend the Skin Relief Healing Ointment. Instead of that feeling of it just sitting on top of your skin like most ointments, this actually felt like it absorbed in. And I find that my patients like this feel better. Therefore, they are more compliant and actually able to keep up with using it, so their skin stays moisturized. I recommend this product to fix dry, cracked, or chafed skin."
