"The Aveeno Skin Healing Ointment is on sale. Normally this is $19.99, but they are knocking down $6. You can get the two 7.2 oz bottles and a 2 oz bottle for $13.99. The 2 oz bottle is great to throw in your purse. This also works really well as a hand cream. It's glycerin based and so it feels a little like you're rubbing something sticky on, but it's not sticky. I ended up liking this. Very good for dry cracked heels, too. Also good to cut down on chafing."

"This is a glycerin skin protectant. So, really good at reducing water loss and hydrating the skin. Glycerin has this wonderful ability to impart long lasting hydration. The thing about this Aveeno Skin Relief Healing Ointment though, I remember purchasing this to try and thinking it was going to be similar to the Norwegian hand formula. And it kind of is, but it's a little bit stickier in texture. It's pretty good. And oat is excellent as well as a skin protectant because not only does it reduce transepidermal water loss, helping with hydration and barrier repair, but it has the anti-inflammatory anthramines, which is a really unique thing with oats specifically when we're talking occlusives that the other ones don't really do to the same extent. Oat is also very good for atopic dermatitis, for hydration, for barrier repair, for soothing."

"I've been using it quite a bit as a hand cream, and it's pretty good actually. This is a glycerin skin protectant with 40% glycerin. It's a little stiff in terms of the application on your hands, but it doesn't feel greasy, as is often the case with glycerin. It does feel sticky though. My hands feel a little sticky right now. But it's really good if you have itchy hands, dry hands after washing your hands. And it's going to be helpful for the nails, too, because moisturizing the hands has the additional benefit for keeping the skin around the nails hydrated and protected and improving the cuticle. Ultimately, that makes for a better seal, preventing moisture from getting up into the nail and affecting nail growth and making the plate brittle."

The oat technology in Aveeno is special because we've seen evidence in papers of oat being anti-inflammatory. It's soothing, great for those with atopic dermatitis and eczema. It's very soothing to those with cracked skin who have exposed nerves and they're very itchy or with pain. Oat will help soothe it.
