What the gurus are saying

Gurus largely praise Avène Thermal Spring Water as a versatile, calming mist especially useful for sensitive skin conditions like rosacea and eczema, plus heat relief and makeup setting. The main criticism is the price point for what amounts to mineral water. A few reviewers find it effective but not essential enough to repurchase, preferring it as a travel or occasional device-use product rather than a routine staple.

"I really don't understand the hype behind that product. I mean it's just like I don't want to pay $8 for a bottle of water. It's water."

"There are so many different ways you can spritz to calm irritated skin right on the spot and then follow with the moisturizer. You can spritz on eczema-prone skin to calm eczema as well as rosacea-prone skin. If your skin feels hot and overheated, this is a great way to calm that down. You can even use it to set makeup. So there are so many different ways of using this thermal spring water. It's a really nice on-the-go product to kind of instantly calm and soothe and hydrate your skin, as long as you pat that watery in and then follow it with the moisturizer."

"A facial spray is great because it helps to instantly calm and cool our skin, especially if being in a long day after being in the sun, and if you end up getting a little too much sun or being sunburnt, a spray can really help to calm and soothe the skin. One that I really like that's a great multitasker is Avène Thermal Spring Water that you can spritz on the go to instantly freshen up and hydrate your skin. When it's dampened you can moisturize to rehydrate after a long day in the sun when you've been sweating a lot and getting too much sun. You can even use it to set your makeup, or if you have sunburn or like rosacea or eczema prone skin areas that are irritated, this thermal spring water spray can spritz, calm things down, soothe the skin, and then you can gently pat that in and layer on moisturizer to seal in that hydration. I love the fact that Avène thermal spring water has been used for many years, I think ever since the 1700s, for treating skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema, so there's actually quite a bit of study on the signs of Avène thermal spring water. This one is very simple, it's soothing, a great multitasker to have on hand. I also love the fact that it comes in different sizes so you can keep one in your bag for travel or a bigger size that you can take to the beach to help calm things down if you need to."

"I didn't have anything for my sink where I wash my face a lot of the time so I like to pat off the nasty LA water and then rehydrate with something that's cleaner. Avène in general is expensive and in comparison to the Bioma, I think I would probably go with my Bioma Mist to be honest with you. I'm just going to kind of hold off and maybe finish it before I decide."

"I use this with my devices so when I'm doing things like microcurrent or radio frequency and if the gels or the serums are starting to dry up I just spray a little bit of this on to reactivate."

"This is just a little guy I picked up while traveling in an airport because getting on a plane without a mist just never happens. I think it's lovely, it's fine. I don't really use it as frequently as some of my other ones. I tend to use this when I'm doing devices and I need a little bit of a spritz, if I'm doing microcurrent or if I was doing radio frequency and my skin was dry out, that's what I use this for. So am I going to repurchase? Probably not, I mean unless I find myself stranded and need it, which might happen, but it's not sort of an active part of my routine."

"This is purely a mineral water that can help calm any inflammation that you have on your skin but also keep you calm and hydrated especially when it is really really hot and if you have rosacea which tends to flare up in the heat this is great not only because it will cool you down but the mineral waters will also be very helpful. Avène traditionally has been better for people with rosacea."
