    What the gurus are saying

This sunscreen spreads and feels like a lightweight moisturizer rather than a typical sunscreen, with a cooling texture and no white cast. The combination of glutathione, niacinamide, and Centella compounds offers anti-inflammatory benefits that may help defend against free radicals and reduce hyperpigmentation signals. Completely fragrance-free and hydrating, it's so wearable some gurus have repurchased it or use it as their daily moisturizer.

"I reviewed this a couple of months ago and really have enjoyed it. I'm on my second bottle at this point. It has niacinamide but it also has glutathione, so two antioxidants good for defending against free radicals and oxidative stress so that the skin barrier can get back on track. This formula is a bit more lightweight but also very hydrating and very moisturizing, really good for dry skin sensitivity. It has hyaluronic acid which helps with moisture retention and it has beta glucan, a humectant, so really wonderful hydrating, more lightweight formula."

Sunscreen I Finished Up In 2024
"I really really liked it a lot. [...] It's fragrance-free and it's got glutathione and niacinamide which are ingredients in sunscreens I really like to have there because they're anti-inflammatory. They may help defend to a certain extent against free radicals that prematurely damage the skin and they may also help to reduce inflammatory cascades that signal to the pigment producing cells to make more pigment and lead to hyperpigmentation and dark spots. Also very soothing and anti-inflammatory. It has octinoxate, octocrylene, tinosorb S, and avobenzone as the active sunscreen ingredients. It also has compounds from Cella which are very soothing. This is a nice lightweight [...] consistency, easy around the eyes, very hydrating, very moisturizing but pretty lightweight overall. It's SPF 50 and it is rated as a PA 4 plus."
Korean Skincare To Save Combination Skin
"I love the texture of this, very lightweight, very hydrating, free of fragrance. It's a chemical sunscreen with a variety of chemical filters for broadspectrum SPF 50 protection. Like the lotion, it's got niacinamide, it's got glutathione, and it has compounds from centella asiatica extract and madecassoside as well as asiaticoside. This does have tea tree extract so it does have a bit of an earthy aroma, so if you're allergic to tea tree oil you'd have to be careful here. But otherwise there's no fragrance added. This sunscreen is not shiny, it's not oily, it's not greasy, it's really a pleasure to use and it's also very moisturizing as well. It's the type of product that if you don't look at the label and you just put it on you're like oh I'm moisturizing my skin. You can kind of trick yourself if you're somebody who hates to wear sunscreen because this just doesn't feel like you're wearing a sunscreen, feels more like an everyday moisturizer. So it's perfect for the winter months where you're mostly indoors but you need a moisturizer, you still need to be protecting your skin from ultraviolet radiation. This is a great option."

"I've been trying out the APLB Glutathione Niacinamide Sunscreen SPF 50 and I really like the texture. It's very much like an entry-level hyaluronic acid watery sun gel chemical sunscreen. It also has compounds from centella in it which are anti-inflammatory, so I'm not mad at this. It's really nice, it's not greasy, and it's a good moisturizer."

"Once I fell in love with their cros, I kind of want to try their other products and within the same line they have the Glutathione Niacinamide SPF 50 sunscreen. This one first took me by surprise because looking at the ingredient list I was like oh my gosh it's basically like the serum but in a sunscreen form stacked with good ingredients. But I especially loved this one for when my skin was a little bit more dehydrated and dry. It still has no white cast, immediately absorbs into the skin, but it has this nice bouncy hydrated plumping effect that is really ideal for when I'm in dry climates or need a little bit of extra moisture for my skin. Compared to the nine sunscreen this one is a little bit more rich, but I don't like rich sunscreens. I want them to feel pretty invisible on my skin and this one does a nice job while still feeling like just a nice hydrating moisturizing serum. So if you tend to lean a little bit more on the combination to dry side I would definitely say this is a great sunscreen. It's such an elegant experience."

"It's an SPF 50+ PA++++ sunscreen, the glutathione sunscreen with Centella Asiatica extract. It has a really soft feeling, very similar texture to the moisturizer, very lightweight and cooling. It spreads so easily over the skin, feels just like a normal moisturizer, no white cast, no fragrance. This is a sunscreen you could just use as a moisturizer every single day. There is just so much goodness in this sunscreen, packed full of really beneficial ingredients in a really gentle way. It has a really nice natural dewy finish, nothing extreme, no glazed doughnut look, just a nice natural glow."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

    Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
