What the gurus are saying

The serum earns consistent praise for leaving skin visibly hydrated, plump and glowy without heaviness, and it plays well alongside active treatments like retinoids and vitamin C without irritation. Gurus note the lightweight, watery texture feels hydrating without disappearing, and highlight that PDRN at this strength offers topical benefits though it is not the same as clinical PDRN treatments. Those layering it with actives report minimal peeling and a calm, supported barrier.

"I do not recommend the Anua PDRN Hyaluronic Acid Capsule 100 Serum. I did a PDRN video a while back and I felt like this was the least effective in terms of making my skin feel repaired. I like Anua, don't get me wrong, I just don't feel like that's a good pick for a PDRN serum. There are so many other PDRN serums I'd recommend before this one."

I Tried PDRN Products for 4 Months All to Tell You THIS?!
"I don't want to spend a lot of time on this serum. Realistically this is a hyaluronic acid serum, and I appreciate the disclosure on the hyaluronic acid, it's a nice hyaluronic acid serum wherein they've dusted some PDRN into it. I don't think there's anything blatantly wrong with it, it's a nice, gentle, fragrance free formulation, but as somebody looking to see what PDRN can give me, this did not instill confidence. I'll probably pass this one along in our declutter series."

"Anua started making their serum in this kind of eye drop container, and Medicube does it too. The big news is Korea Consumer Agency recalled these products because they got so many complaints, some consumers already used it on their eyes and got injured. So Anua and Medicube decided to change the container to a normal one, which I think is a good thing, especially since I have a one year old baby and don't know what she'd do with it. The package says it's for the face, it's a serum, but if it gets mixed up with your real eye drops you could accidentally use it, and that is so dangerous. It's kind of fun for traveling since you don't have to carry a huge bottle, though it's not great for the environment. Innovative products like this need you to see the other side too."

I Spent $4,000 at Olive Young So You Don’t Have To
"The Anua serums, the red and peach ones, are so popular online, though you actually can't buy them in Korea because of the law, I even buy mine from overseas. I'd say they're okay, you can try them once, but they're not a product I really, really recommend. The PDRN percentage is really low, more like a hyaluronic acid serum, and while people expect PDRN to be anti-aging and lifting, this one is very lightweight, more for everyday use in oily combo tropical weather."
I Tested 10 NEW Viral K-Beauty Products — Which Ones Are ACTUALLY Worth It?
"This one is great for traveling, a little lighter, though it's a bit fishy and artificial smelling since it's from salmon. In Korea's summer humidity of 40 to 50 percent I like this one better, it's not watery but lighter than the bottle serum. If you're oily combo skin and it's summer, this one is pretty good and still gets your skin hydrated, it goes in more quickly and feels more lightweight."
TOP 10 Korean Skincare Brands | Global #1 VS Korea #1 - WHICH IS BETTER?
"This PDRN serum contains hyaluronic acid, collagen and glutathione, but comparing it to other PDRN serums, Anua has the least amount of PDRN, only about 100 ppm, while others have three to four thousand. The texture is slightly oily and tacky, so oily or combo skin should only use it at night, while dry skin can use it daily. If you expect lifting, it doesn't really do that, it's more just a hydrating serum. It's too light for dry, mature skin over 40, and a bit thick for oily skin. Overall this Anua product is not my favorite, but it's nothing amazing and nothing bad, which is probably why it became a bestseller, and if you're in your 20s or 30s you could try it casually."
What You Should Know Before You Buy Viral Korean Skincare Products!
"This contains 100 PPM of PDRN, which is one hundredth of what's in Medicube. At this level, claiming it contains PDRN is more of a marketing strategy, it's essentially just a hyaluronic acid serum. It's the most lightweight of the five serums, better for oily and combo skin. It's okay, but I don't want to repurchase it, because we have so many options when it comes to hyaluronic acid serum."

"For the best daytime PDRN serum, I have to recommend the very popular Anua PDRN Hyaluronic Acid 100 Capsule Serum. This one's so good, I really like how lightweight it is compared to pretty much every single PDRN product I've used, because a lot of PDRN products tend to be very heavy and greasy on the skin and not always ideal for daytime use unless you have really dry skin. This one I can confidently use throughout the day and throughout the night. It uses salmon PDRN so the sourcing is good, and it also has niacinamide, turmeric, and glutathione, which are great for dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and antioxidants, and unlike a lot of other Anua products, this one is actually fragrance-free. It's a really solid, lightweight formula, easy to use during the day and night, and if you're a beginner to skincare or PDRN and want a good, affordable serum to easily introduce to your routine, this one's an awesome one to start with, and definitely worth the virality it's getting."

"Cinnamon PDRN that helps to support skin rejuvenation, promote skin turnover, helps with elasticity, fine lines and wrinkles. And then hydrolyzed collagen along with 11 different types of hyaluronic acid that works to hydrate your skin, keeping your skin plump and hydrated, supporting the skin barriers, improving skin health that again is really important for kind of aging skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I really love this. [...] I use it in the morning on top of my vitamin C serum and at night before my topical retinoid. [...] It's a great one because it's not irritating. You can easily incorporate it into your existing routine and if you're worried about retinoids, this may interfere with your retinoids, it will not. So this is the beauty of this product, which is why I love it so much."

"The key ingredients are PDRN or the salmon DNA with 100 ppms or parts per million of the actual PDRN itself. It also contains 3% hyaluronic acid and hydrolyzed collagen. I've tried this myself. I do like it a lot. I do think it hydrates. I do need to apply a moisturizer on top of it because I find it just a little bit sticky, but this could be just me. I think it's very gentle for even the most sensitive skin. It works really good in the morning or in the evening."

"This is a miracle product. Because this just gives you hydration. And it is not at all like it gets into your skin. No cast nothing you hyaluronic acid and PDRN. You should use it on damp skin. It is absolutely fabulous"

Science or Scam: Do PDRN Serums Really Work? Best PDRN Serums in India | Nipun Kapur
"Anua has a PDRN serum which I reviewed last year. It uses very little PDRN, it uses salmon DNA, but the PDRN concentration is extremely low, I believe it is less than 0.1%. But it is very high on hyaluronic acid. The Anua PDRN Hyaluronic Acid Capsule 100 Serum is something that I will highly recommend to people who have oily, acne prone skin, they just want to get a burst of hydration. It is a good product. But again, for anti-aging, I don't think it's going to work. When it comes to anti-aging, you need concentrations minimum 0.5%, you need salmon DNA and you need a good cream to go with it. So Anua is in the thing of normal to oily skin."

"This is very, very hydrating to your skin. I also just really like this brand. They have some cool products. You can see it's very, very liquidy, so almost like an essence. It feels good. This is my style. This serum feels really nice on the skin and it's glowing."

Keep Hearing About PDRN? Do You Need it in Your Routine? Benefits From PDRN for Skin and Aging
"It's super watery and I find it kind of frustrating to use because it's so watery it's hard to really get a good application of it. But it's nice and it really has worked well for a lot of people. It's basically like putting water on, which makes it a little bit of a challenge. But the good news is a little bit goes a long way. You're going to want to apply this right after toning and before serums and moisturizers to lock in that hydration. This one also has 11 kinds of hyaluronic acid if you're still into hyaluronic acid, formulated in new low molecular smart capsule and enhances absorption of active ingredients into the skin. Suitable for all skin types, sensitive and acne prone skin. Very watery though."

"If you're looking for a salmon derived PDRN, which as I said, these studies show to be the most efficacious when it comes to human application, then the Anua PDRN Hyaluronic Acid 100 Serum is probably the one that I would go for. It's not super expensive, so it's one of those price points I think could suit most budgets. And this actually has a high concentration of salmon derived PDRN. It's also got some other great calming and soothing ingredients. And best thing about it, contains collagen too. So it gives like an ultimate plumping experience for the skin. If you want instant plumping plus long-term anti-aging, this is a great option to go for and it really does feel nice on application. That collagen gets to work straight away, plumping out and hydrating the skin alongside that hyaluronic acid. And then that PDRN works in the long term to boost collagen synthesis, reduce inflammation, and just help keep the skin in tip-top health. Salmon derived, so not going to be for everyone, but people that want quick results but also want to see that salmon derived PDRN, this is definitely a win."

"It does leave this kind of slip on your skin that honestly I don't mind at all. It's not oily or thick or anything. It's just like a nice kind of feel, it feels like it's locking everything in. We also have glutathione in here which is a brightening antioxidant as well as turmeric eggplant extract and basil, holy basil or something which apparently calms the skin. All I know is that this is one of my favorite hydrating products. I've been using this purely after a toner before a treatment serum just to give my skin that extra hydration and I love it. It's got that stringiness and it feels thick but light at the same time, and I feel like this gives me the satisfaction of that quench that I'm always looking for."

"It kind of reminds me of that in texture, but it has no effect on like my oily skin. It just feels hydrated whilst also wrapping your skin in moisture. So, if you're looking for something that's going to really really deeply hydrate and plump your skin, this is an amazing one. I've just been using it non-stop. I've emptied four or five of these."

SALMON SPERM IN SKINCARE?! Why Everyone's Obsessed With PDRN
"I layer this up like, so I'll do one layer all over and then I'll drip it just a little bit extra where I'm super dry or where I feel a little bit more dehydrated, maybe where I have more skin texture, on the cheeks and this little area of my forehead. I wake up and my skin just feels hydrated, calm and a little bit more plumper than usual. What I like about this serum as well is just how well it plays with other actives. Whether you're using retinoids, exfoliants, vitamin C, this will just slot happily into your routine, keeping your barrier happy alongside that. I've been using this for about three weeks now and really enjoying it. I do layer it into my tret routine, and I've had minimal, minimal, minimal peeling with no dryness. If you've been curious about PDRN but didn't want to commit to a clinic appointment or injectable treatment, this is a nice place to start. Is it the same thing? No, it's not. But it still has amazing topical benefits. Anua's PDRN Hyaluronic Acid Capsule 100 Serum gives you barrier care, hydration, and regeneration as well."

"The Anua PDRN Hyaluronic Acid Capsule 100 Serum is a new favorite of mine, [...] a really nice wake-up and boost for my skin. It's super lightweight, watery and hydrating, and my skin just drinks it up without it disappearing on the skin. It has PDRN and hyaluronic acid, and that combination with collagen makes everything smoother, bouncier and more plump. It's a really solid everyday twice-a-day serum."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

Source: DermNet

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
