What the gurus are saying

Gurus consistently praise this as an effective, well-formulated hyperpigmentation treatment with multiple active ingredients at clinically meaningful levels. It's positioned as intermediate to advanced skincare rather than a beginner option, with visible results expected within a month. The main trade-off cited is the premium price point. One reviewer flagged a stability concern, noting the product darkened before its stated expiration date, which warrants attention to storage and batch consistency.

"This is the Allies of Skin Tranexamic and Arbutin Advanced Brightening Serum. It has a 2% alpha, which you need for this hack, but it's packed full of other brightening ingredients. This definitely isn't for beginners. I'd say this is for more advanced hyperpigmentation skincare afficionados. If that's you and you've been on your hyperpigmentation journey for some time, this could be a really good option to use. You can still put a couple of drops of this into your moisturizer or just use it as a standard serum. But this gets you your alpha boost alongside so much else and this will work in about a month's time. So if you don't mind spending a little bit more and you want to cut the time to see those results, this is the product that I would reach for."

#1 HYPERPIGMENTATION SERUM 2025 - Fade Dark Spots Fast
"This is the Allies of Skin Tranexamic and Arbutin Advanced Brightening Serum. I have many of these and have gone through many of these. This is a much more gentle yet still super effective version. Similar price point and delivers very similar results, but the risk of any sensitivity and irritation is going to be less with this because of the formula and the ingredients that they've chosen. You've got your acid in here in a really high concentration that's going to suppress any excess pigment production, but also help achieve a more even skin tone. You've got alpha arbutin, which is fantastic, one of the best over-the-counter hyperpigmentation treatments to lift, to brighten, and to break apart some of that hyperpigmentation. You've also got some peptides that they've chosen specifically for their ability to fade hyperpigmentation. They've been really carefully selected to help boost brightness, luminosity, and fade any dark spots. They've also got some algal extracts as well as licorice root in here. Both are nature's brightening ingredients that really does boost the potency of the product without also increasing the risk of side effects and irritation. I think this is absolutely phenomenal. This is a real sensitive skin friendly option."

"The Allies of Skin Tranexamic and Arbutin Advanced Brightening Serum is a very very good hyperpigmentation serum. Yes, it is on the pricier side, but it's not just because they're expensive. It's because they tend to have multiple efficacious ingredients at efficacious levels. I feel like Allies of Skin just does a really good job at balancing their products, but they're not putting too much in, and they're really being mindful of the pH of the products and the appropriate efficacy levels. This one is really fantastic and people see great results. This formula has 2% alpha arbutin, which is a really strong pigment inhibitor. I love to see it in a hyperpigmentation product. It's also a precursor to hydroquinone, which is the gold standard topical for treating any form of hyperpigmentation."

It's also a precursor to hydroquinone, which is the gold standard topical for treating any form of hyperpigmentation. Having a precursor of hydroquinone in the form of alpha arbutin allows you to have a lot of those similar pigment blocking abilities without the irritation without the big hit of hydroquinone to your skin. It also has 3% tranexamic acid in it which can be helpful for pigmentation as well particularly through an anti-inflammatory pathway. This also has a brightening licorice root extract."

"Allies of Skin Tranexamic and Arbutin Advanced Brightening Serum, I really love this, the manufacturing or expiration date is May 2025, but it went bad a little early. That doesn't look like something you want to put on your skin, so kind of a bummer. Generally when it's black, it's not a good thing. Generally when a skincare product turns black or like dark orange or something like that, it's generally not the greatest sign."
