What the gurus are saying

The self-tanner builds a natural-looking tan without the typical chemical smell, though overuse risks an overly orange cast, so pacing it to once or twice weekly helps find your right rate. Chemical sunscreen ingredients in the formula did not irritate skin in testing, and the addition of vitamin C, green tea, chamomile and centella asiatica brings calming and antioxidant support alongside the SPF 50 broad-spectrum protection and water resistance up to 80 minutes.

"Allies of Skin has launched their Sunless Tan SPF 50 Daily Self-Tanner which is a chemical sunscreen with DHA which is the classic ingredient found in self-tanners but you're not going to smell like a lab mouse when you use this and it's going to build a beautiful coverage slowly over time. It retails for $59. But the only thing I want to tell you guys about this is beware that if you overuse this product, you might end up looking like an Oompa Loompa, really, really orange. So you got to kind of pace yourselves and figure out what is the right rate for you to use this product. I'm guessing it's probably going to be once or twice a week."

"This one actually from Allies of Skin is quite nice. This product does not cause irritation for me, which is really weird because mostly all chemical-based sunscreens irritate my skin. I like this one a lot because it has a built-in self-tanner at the same time. So it's very unique. This is the Sunless Tan SPF 50 Daily Self-Tanner. And this one has vitamin C, green tea, chamomile, licorice fruit extract, santalum album. So a lot of great skin ingredients in there to calm the skin, to keep the skin hydrated as well. And it is a broad-spectrum SPF 50 with a PA++++, which is really good. And it's water and sweat resistant up to 80 minutes. This does contain chemical-based sunscreen ingredients, but I think this is a nice one if you want that built-in self-tanner and it doesn't give you orange looking skin. It's actually very realistic. So if you want something to give your skin a little bit more color, use this on an everyday basis to keep up with it to build up that tan or just use it every other day just to maintain the tan shade that you desire."

"This is the Sunless Tan SPF 50 Daily Self-Tanner. Sometimes self-tanners can look too orange or look different and don't always look natural, but this one actually builds up to quite a natural looking tan. And I was actually really impressed with that. And this one also has a built-in sunscreen. The only thing here for me is that this does contain a chemical-based ingredient list for sunscreen, and I usually don't use chemical-based sunscreens because they irritate my skin and I get a burning sensation and get quite rosy. But I did not experience that burning sensation with this at all, and my face did not get rosy either. So that was quite interesting because I usually don't like chemical formulations. This also has vitamin C, green tea, chamomile, licorice root extract, as well as goji and centella asiatica, so very brightening with antioxidant support and it's also very calming and hydrating. It is a broad spectrum SPF 50 with PA+++++."
