What the gurus are saying

Gurus praise Aklief's efficacy for body acne and appreciate its lower irritation profile compared to stronger retinoids like tretinoin, making it suitable for larger surface areas. The consensus is that it's less drying and applies smoothly as a lotion. Anti-aging claims remain unproven since the product is too new; gurus caution against expecting wrinkle benefits without long-term studies.

"Aklief is triferitine. It's a newer retinoid that is more specific for the gamma retinoid receptor. Because it's so specific, you can get away with using a very low percentage in the formulation. For that reason, it can be used on large surface areas like your entire back, your entire chest without concern of exposing yourself to too much of the drug due to absorption from large surface area. It's FDA approved for the treatment of acne on the trunk, back, and chest. Now, everybody wants to know right away, does it work for anti-aging? Well, it's not been around long enough. You might get a study here and there about looking at it for wrinkles and collagen, maybe somewhere along the line, but I would not be waiting with baited breath for that to come out because we don't have a lot of studies on the other retinoids for anti-aging. All topical retinoids can improve the visible signs of sun damage."

"It's called Aklief, it's triferotin, it's another retinoid so it acts similar to tretinoin and retinol but this one is a little bit lighter. It's more of a lotion than a cream and I find that it goes on really well for chest and back if you ever get any body acne or can also help with anti-aging in that sense too. I definitely don't see it being as drying as the tretinoin at all. I still do put moisturizer over it but I don't feel as though I need to."

"It's actually so safe that it's been specifically approved for truncal acne, so like your chest and back, because it's safer you can apply more of it on a larger surface area compared to if it was just approved for your face. It is a lot more potent, which is why it's at such a low concentration. Because it is new there is only this one formulation. The brand name is called Aklief and it's got a polymer in it that spreads out the active more evenly. It's also got allantoin, which is soothing."
