Adapalene 0.1% Gel.

"I love some adapalene gel, this is one of my favorite budget options, this is from AcneFree, it's like 10 to 15 bucks. What's great about this is that because this is a third generation retinoid it's basically safe to use during the day and in the sun. Of course you still need sunscreen, and sunscreen is the most important part of this because sunscreen actually prevents the wrinkles from happening because it prevents your collagen from breaking down in the first place. But you do need to know that adapalene gel doesn't break down in the sun the way that regular retinoids do, so this is a really great option if you want to use this throughout the day. This works by literally going into your skin and telling your skin cells make more of yourselves, and this actually plumps up the layers of your skin deeper down. If you are able to create more collagen and elastin you're able to create plumper skin in those layers deep down, that's going to help with some fine lines and wrinkles. While I think that's going to be better for areas like around the eyes or kind of on the face and the cheeks, yes this can work on the forehead, and if you do use it right in between your eyebrows it can work. I just take a pea-sized amount and put it all over the face. This is generally best at night, although you can do it during the day, just make sure that you're always wearing it under a sunscreen."

"Something like an adapalene gel is wonderful. This is from Acne Free. I love this. An adapalene gel is basically a synthetic version of a retinoid, it's a third generation retinoid, and it's made for acne but to be less irritating and to be a little bit more photo stable, so light stable, meaning this is better to use during the day than something like your straight up tretinoin. This is also wonderful, it can still cause retinization, but depending on what does or doesn't work for your skin this gel might be really helpful. Even though it's been tested and studied in acne prone people, there is reason to believe that it works similarly on fine lines and wrinkles and scars and hyperpigmentation and rosacea just the way that tretinoin does."

Differin used to be prescription only but this is available over the counter so you don't need a prescription for it but it's the same prescription strength but it is cruelty free. As a synthetic retinoid it is more stable so you can use this day and night. Yes this is called acne free but I educate clients and patients on this all the time to look for the active ingredients. The adapalene in here has been shown to help fine lines and wrinkles if you're very gentle with it and if the derma approves that you can use it around the eye area as long as you titrate and you're careful with it. You can use it on smile lines, you can use it if you have large blemishes, even if you have cystic acne. This is an absolute must-have and it's also under ten bucks, you can get this on Amazon for like seven dollars when it's on sale. It's absolutely phenomenal."

"I remember when I was 16 I was trying to get a prescription for all of these adapalene gels and it was a nightmare, you had to get a recommendation or a referral to the derm, you had to wait to see the derm, then you had to see the derm, they look at you for 15 minutes and they rush you off because insurance sucks, you have to go fill this script at the pharmacy, then the pharmacy doesn't have your prescription so you have to go to a different pharmacy and then they're going to charge you like 500 bucks for it because your insurance doesn't cover it. If you found that retinol doesn't work or if it's too irritating to you or if the ones you find over the counter have a bunch of fragrance or if you find that prescription strength is just too much or you can't get a prescription, you're literally looking at something that is either under 10 or 20 bucks depending on the size that you get that is cruelty free, fragrance free, oil free, and yes dermatologist recommended and approved."
