What the gurus are saying

Gurus praise the gel's lightweight, breathable texture and cooling sensation, making it suitable for oily or sweaty skin. The simple ingredient list is viewed as a strength for sensitivity but a weakness for the price point; reviewers note it lacks sufficient calming or occlusive power for those needing richer hydration or long-wear coverage. Best suited to daytime or active use rather than all-around skincare.

"The ingredient list is very simple: aloe vera, panthenol, hyaluronic acid. The ingredients are good, they work to moisturize the skin, and when it comes to a daytime moisturizer or something you're using while performing and constantly sweating, whatever works to moisturize your skin without feeling super heavy on your face is great. But I don't know if I'd use this moisturizer just because it doesn't really have super calming ingredients. I mean it does have safflower oil, but that does very minimum to calm down the skin, especially if I'm going to be paying $43 for it. I'd prefer for it to have a little bit more of an ingredient list."

"The Acne Expert Skincare Calming Moisture Gel allows skin to breathe, which is great for those who prefer a light hydrator. It has a very simple ingredient list with calming ingredients like allantoin, glycerin, panthenol, and aloe vera. It's a very straightforward hydrating gel moisturizer. The cooling feeling is nice, but there aren't that many ingredients in here that are going to make it feel occlusive. If you're going to be sweating and you're already prone to being a little bit more oily, a gel moisturizer would be the way to go to keep your skin care light. That said, if you want that gel cooling feeling but also need something more occlusive with more film formers to lock everything in, especially if you're going to be wearing makeup on camera, you'd want to look for something different."
