What the gurus are saying

Gurus rave about this as a standout barrier-repair product, especially for sensitive, irritated, or reactive skin. The jelly texture is consistently praised for its occlusive, protective quality that reduces transepidermal water loss and calms stinging on vulnerable areas like the cheeks. A recurring note is that it's sticky and takes time to absorb, so users often apply it only to sensitive zones rather than the full face. The consensus is it delivers visible results overnight with minimal ingredients and works well layered into retinoid routines.

"I actually like to use it because the hydrating action of it coupled with the reduction in transepidermal water loss, it really helps to reduce the appearance of pores on the nose to plump up those little fine lines. I love this stuff. Fragrance-free. It plumps, it hydrates, and it reduces the appearance through both of those mechanisms of those little fine lines. It also brightens up the under eye area just by light scattering. But importantly, it's a skin protectant. So it helps cut down on access of irritants to the eyelid skin."

Top Korean Skincare Products To Save Your Dry Skin
"If you've got the sensitivity on your cheeks like you put on maybe your toner really just a cream and it burns and stings you need to try this out. It is a thick clear colorless jelly it has glycerin it has rice bran extract these are hydrating soothing moisturizing ingredients that help really with barrier recovery because they help improve water content in the skin. Saccharomyces rice bran ferment filter is also packed with anti-inflammatory soothing compounds. The consistency of this is like a thick jelly that really just sits there on the surface of the skin protecting it from transepidermal water loss and ultimately the end result is improved moisture content better barrier turnover overall healthier happier more hydrated skin. You could use it nightly if you needed to or you could just use it as needed when your skin is extra dry put it on as the final step in your nighttime skincare routine because it is pretty occlusive so things that you put on top of it will have a challenging time penetrating that jelly barrier."

"This is arguably the best Korean skincare product discovery of 2024, the Abib Rice Probiotics Overnight Mask Barrier Jelly. It's so good with really minimal ingredients but the product really delivers results. It's a thick, rich, clear, colorless jelly with no niacinamide for those of you who are sensitive. It has glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, which is a salt of hyaluronic acid, and adenosine, which are hydrating humectants and moisturizing ingredients. It's free of fragrance and contains lactobacillus rice ferment filtrate, which is going to deliver anti-inflammatory compounds to the skin. I've been using it in the moisture sandwich technique where you apply a lightweight moisturizer, apply your retinoid, and then apply another moisturizer on top, essentially sandwiching your retinoid between the moisturizer to cut down on dryness and irritation. Using this barrier jelly as the top layer of the sandwich is amazing. It really locks in moisture and cuts down on irritation. It's especially nice when you put it on the cheeks, which are an area prone to sensitivity and dryness, burning and stinging because they have more blood vessels. Also great on the neck."

"This is a 2024 yes please, probably going to become a staple because I've just really been loving this final step in my nighttime skincare routine. You just need a tiny scoop, you don't need a lot of this jelly, especially to my cheeks. It dries a little sticky and tacky, but it's totally worth it because tomorrow when I wake up my skin is like, did we even experience overnight? At night your skin loses more water, you have increased blood flow, it tends to get worse. That's one of the reasons why when you wake up in the morning you look like you just rolled out of bed and your skin is not as vivacious as it is at baseline. But doing this overnight jelly mask as the final step, it's a really good hydrating occlusive moisturizer that gets your skin back on track."

"This rice probiotics overnight mask from abib is called a barrier jelly and it's a clear colorless thick jelly. Once you put it on it does feel a little sticky but it's the most comfortable thing to apply. It's like putting on an extra layer of skin or something. It really does actually feel like you have a mask on like a sheet mask or something, but it's just a thick jelly. It's thinner in consistency compared to other jelly masks I've tried, which is perfect. It's a lot more lightweight, it's glossy, it's really very soothing. By the time I go to bed it's fully absorbed and it's not sticky. It doesn't smear all over my sheets."

"This rice probiotics overnight mask barrier jelly from ABIB has a clear colorless jellylike texture, very thick, and it really does what it markets itself as doing. It's great for your skin barrier, fragrance-free, and has rice ferment and saccharomyces ferment with no niacinamide. I highly recommend this if you are going through a bout of sensitivity, redness, peeling, irritation because it is so soothing and so supportive of the needs of the barrier. It's like a little cushion to your skin. It is a little sticky in terms of texture and takes a long time for it to really dry down and absorb. As you're applying it, it almost looks like you have this thin sheet of cellophane on your face. It's really good at reducing water loss. I would recommend considering using it as the top coat in the retinoid sandwich, which is a way to moisturize the skin while using a topical retinoid to reduce dryness and irritation."

"It really does dampen down transepidermal water loss and reduce that stinging, that burning sensation that you might experience, especially on the cheeks. There are a lot of blood vessels here, it's an area of the face where people are more prone to experiencing burning, stinging sensitivity, flushing, blushing. You don't need very much, a little bit goes a long way. Arguably one of the best products I have tried this year."
I Finished These Skincare Products—Would I Repurchase?
"Absolutely love it. It's on the pricier side of things, but it works really well. If you're someone who gets irritation, this is great for soothing that. It doesn't matter if you have oily, acne prone skin or not, you can use something like this. It's not going to clog pores or any of that. It is very glycerin rich, very thick, deeply hydrating, protective. A little bit goes a long way and it is very sticky. It's a final step of your nighttime skincare routine product for hydration, barrier repair, barrier recovery. If you have windburn on your cheeks it'll be great to heal and repair that, also great if you have a lot of irritation from products. It takes time to dry down though, you have to be patient. I typically only put it on my cheeks and maybe a little on the bridge of my nose because it's way too much stickiness with my hair and everything if I use it all over. But it really does leave your skin hydrated, plump. The following morning when you wake up, it's like wow. It delivers results and took me a long time to make my way through it, but it's a holy grail favorite."

"This has helped with brightening up that under eye area from the lack of sleep and the stress, so it's just a really good performing product. I love this texture. It's a sleeping mask but I've never really encountered a sleeping mask with this beautiful jelly texture. It's not gel, it's truly a bouncy jelly texture and it feels so hydrating, so replenishing, so cooling and refreshing on the skin, but it's a nice hefty gel that really does work nicely as a sleeping mask. It has that occlusivity that helps to hug in hydration and all your other skincare layers to really resist dehydration. The ingredient rice really helps to give this really beautiful overall brightness to the skin, that healthiness to the complexion, and it actually makes your skin feel so soft and conditioned as well. It's a new take on slugging, it is something that improves the skin, and it is a winner."

"This is exactly what I need right now. It's something in between a light hydrator and a heavy cream. The jar says it's a barrier jelly and that's exactly what the texture is. It has a medium weight gel texture that feels really refreshing and hydrating. I could definitely see myself using this in the summertime, but right now it feels so good and so refreshing. It's not the type of gel that just disappears; it's not thin. It actually has more of a medium kind of heftiness to it. It just feels really good and very protective. I do have to say it takes a hot second to dry. I've been keeping this on my bedside and I'll put it on when I'm in bed. It takes about a good 10 minutes to dry, and if you lay down before then your cheek will definitely stick to the pillow. But this texture is so fun, it's so bouncy, it's so refreshing, it's so hydrating, and it's very protective."
