    What the gurus are saying

This stick's matte, mattifying finish and oil-control powder earn consistent praise from those with oily and combination skin, especially for keeping shine at bay throughout the day without feeling greasy or dry. The half-moon shape and smooth texture make reapplication effortless, and the water and sweat resistance means the formula stays put even in summer heat or around the eyes. A couple of notes: the stick formulation relies on a wax base with chemical filters, which gurus found gentle and non-irritating, though anyone concerned about chemical sunscreens may want to patch-test first, and you'll need enough passes over your face each time to ensure full coverage.

"The Abib Airy stick is a curved stick meant to be easier to apply on the curves of the face, but there were some weird missing bits and some bits that weren't missing."

"This Abib Airy sunstick protection bar, it's an SPF 50. It feels really nice, doesn't feel greasy, feels nice and silky, and it's so easy to put on and such an easy way to prevent the visible signs of aging on your hands now that spring's here."

"The Abib Airy SunStick is a chemical sunscreen stick and reapplying with this has been a dream and it doesn't burn or sting. The thing I always caution about with sticks is they are prone to skip areas and under application so you need to do multiple passes over a given area. With this particular sunscreen you do have to be careful and do multiple passes, but I love the overall shape of the applicator. I think that is a key feature of it that makes it nice for application, especially like on the jaw area. It gets good coverage but it's kind of curved so you can get up under the eyes and on the forehead."

"This one came as a surprise to me recently when I went to Orlando for the AAD. I took with me the Abib Airy SunStick thinking well I might as well give this a try. At first I was like this is kind of odd, but let me tell you it's really easy to go back and forth and back and forth under your eye and under your brow, get your forehead, get your sides of your face. Reapplying with this has been a dream and it doesn't burn or sting. Now the thing I always caution about with sticks is they are prone to skip areas and under application, so you need to do multiple passes over a given area, but what I liked about this, it really surprised me because it was very easy to glide on the skin for great application. The shape of it was such to facilitate good application like around the nose, the upper eyelid area, under the eyes, your forehead. I ended up using it when I went throughout the parks for just touching up sunscreen on my face."

"It's a pretty sizable stick. SPF 50 doesn't appear to have fragrance or any essential oils, that's a pretty interesting applicator. Feels a little stiff in the application but now as I'm getting it on there it's gliding on. I think it does have a little bit of a fragrance to it, I detect an aroma."

"I discovered this and it is so good. Based on all of the sunscreens I've tested, I am declaring this to be the sunscreen for summer 2024. This is the Airy SunStick Smoothing Bar SPF 50+ PA+++, and it's water resistant for 80 minutes. It might look like a deodorant for your face but it is literally one of the most beautiful sun sticks in the entire world. You can use it on your face, you can use it on your chest, you can use it on your neck. It goes on like a dream. It's this half moon shape so it's really easy to apply, especially to the contours of your face. It feels like mango butter on the skin. This is one of probably the best sunsticks I've ever used. It's great for combo skin, it's great for all skin types. This one is great for something right in the middle. You can layer it well over or under makeup, over or under other sunscreen. This is absolutely one of the best Korean beauty sunscreens I have ever used. The sun filters it uses are both Korean and American so you're kind of getting the best of both worlds because you're not getting the greasy nastiness and the white casty that comes from America."

"The last product from Abib is the Airy SunStick Smoothing Bar. This sunscreen stick is really ideal for the summer for a couple reasons. Number one, it is water and sweat resistant, so it sticks on your skin better. Since we're outside more, it's sweaty, it's hot, we're swimming, so that SPF protection tends to stick on your skin better. Two, it's got a soft mattifying finish, almost like a primer texture. So great for oily and combination skin, but I feel like all of us tend to just be a little more shiny and greasy in the summertime. So when you're using this, not only are you reapplying your sunscreen, keeping your skin protected, but you're also kind of cutting down that shine and greasiness, which is really ideal in the summertime. Ingredient wise, it's got chemical filters, but the chemical sunscreens from Korea, I've just never really had an issue with it bothering me around my eyes. And with that stick formulation, that wax base, it tends to stick on your skin better, so it doesn't really run into your eyes with sweat or water. It really is okay to use around the eyes. From my experience, I've never had sunscreen stick, even chemical filters from Korea, to cause burning or irritation."

"This is the ABIB Airy SunStick Smoothing Bar. This is a broad spectrum SPF 50+, water-resistant up to 80 minutes. This somehow gets that perfect balance between nice natural glowy skin that isn't dewy, but it's also a nice matte finish as well. It's a very silky smooth matte finish. These sunscreen sticks are great for reapplication. So if you do have a sunscreen that you love, but maybe you're finding it a bit greasy as well, you can also just go over the top with this to kind of bring that shine level down and add that soft touch matte finish to your skin. It's curved, which makes it just easy to glide around your skin, get in all those crevices, behind your ear, around your neck, in all the grooves of your face. That simple curve just makes such a difference. This does have a mattifying powder in, which honestly is the nicest thing when you have the oiliest t-zone of all time ever, and you're out and about, because you can quickly just kind of rub around and that mattifying powder takes care of that excess oil."

"As someone with a really oily t-zone and nose, my oils are controlled all day. When it's sunny outside and I go for a dog walk or something and I sweat, there's no dripping into my eyes, no stinging, no sweating. I love it. And I love these sticks because they just get in like the crevices of your nose so easily. It's got this soft, matte-touch finish to it, but also quite a nice natural glow."

☀️ Summer Skincare Hacks That Are Actually Useful! ☀️
"The Abib Airy SunStick Smoothing Bar is a broad spectrum SPF 50+, water-resistant up to 80 minutes. This is my now go to for my forehead and my oily nose. A sunscreen that's so water-resistant, somehow just keeps my oils at bay the whole day. It stops any sweat from going into my eyes and taking the sunscreen with it whilst also being so lightweight on those oily areas, which is what I want. This one in particular has an oil control powder in it to help with that oily t-zone. It gives you this almost matte finish without drying down your skin and making it feel dehydrated and crusty, it gives a still very natural shine. And coming in stick form, it's super easy to reapply throughout the day. Just make sure you're doing enough passes over the face. We have Allantoin in here as well to help really soothe the skin."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

    Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
