    What the gurus are saying

This gentle foam cleanser stands out for not stripping skin while delivering salicylic acid to target acne. Most acne cleansers are harsh and drying, so this formulation's approach is notably different. It balances the active with soothing ingredients like heartleaf and centella extracts plus a thoughtful blend of gentle surfactants, and experts praise both the lightweight texture and fragrance-free composition.

"Like the Acne Foam Cleanser from Abib. Again, Heart Leaf foam. This is targeted at those with acne, actually, so it's really, really gentle on the skin."

"The ABIB Acne Foam Cleanser is a gentle cleanser I've been really enjoying it forms a nice foam and it doesn't strip my skin which is great because so many acne cleansers are harsh. It has salicylic acid in it to help with acne it's been found to work well in cleansers and you can see some of those gentle cleanser formulation features here there's a mix of surfactants and a bunch of soothing and moisturizing ingredients including heartleaf and centella extracts. It's fragrance free apart from those plant extracts."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Salicylic acid

Salicylic acid dissolves in oil, so it can get into a pore rather than just working on the surface. That is why it has long-standing evidence for blackheads and milder acne.

    Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
