The other retinol that I absolutely love is Shani Darden. She has her Retinol Reform at now at 1% and she does label the percentage of her retinol. So that is also a really nice one for someone who is more advanced.
I lock in that smoothness while my skin is nice and damp with this Aquaphor body spray. It is ideal, it is their ointment in a spray form and it works beautifully because it creates a protective barrier that locks in your moisture without making you feel overwhelmed or overburdened by that ointment. It just helps to heal areas that are very sensitive or raw. Just one tip: put a large towel on the floor if you are going to be spraying this because it does have a scatter effect.

La Mer is a very aspirational brand and they actually have a beautiful moisturizer that's very expensive, but their eye cream has no active ingredient that is necessarily proprietary to anything and therefore you're just spending $300 on a really rich moisturizer. You really want to use eye creams with a purpose.
Liquid rhinoplasty, non-surgical nose jobs where injectors are injecting dissolvable fillers, hyaluronic acid based fillers like Restylane or Juvéderm into your nasal bridge or the tip of your nose to hide any lumps bumps, to make it appear straighter, to lift the tip up, or to have a more refined look, is a huge risk. From an anatomic perspective, your nose is the area of your face that is part of the midline of your face, and the midline of anyone's face is the most dangerous area. One of those reasons is because your arteries come from the outside in and they tend to end in the midline, so it's an area that has a lot of end arteries. When you are placing filler in this area and it gets into that artery, it can cause a vascular occlusion, a blockage, the filler blocking the artery. If that happens you can end up having skin death, also known as necrosis. A lot of people are not very lucky and end up having permanent disfigurements. It's something that I do not recommend.

You can use hyaluronic acid to draw moisture in and to lock it in by putting HA followed by a thick occlusive layer on top. However, HA for me has been inflammatory and I found that it irritates my lips a little bit and I feel like they get more dry in the process. So I actually sometimes do this with just glycerin instead.

"It's the Clarins Double Serum. It's just heavenly. It is nice. It is chewy. It is yummy on your skin. It also has a beautiful scent. So, from an experiential point of view, it really is all balming. And I think you guys should try it out or gift it. The person you gift it to will highly enjoy it."

Top Derm Picks for Sephora Holiday Savings Event 2025 | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"Clarins has a divine smelling serum. Yes, it has a scent, but I absolutely love the scent of this. It's their Double Serum with 22 plant extracts and five active molecules. It helps to hydrate your skin and hold on to that hydration. And it gives you a beautiful sensorial experience because at the end of the day, skin care is meant to be enjoyed. And if you don't have an allergy to fragrance, I'm a dermatologist. Go knock yourself out. Go use it. It goes for $95, but it's a nice gift if you're looking to gift it to somebody."
17 Best Serums to Shop from the Sephora Sale 2024! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"I just fell in love because of the smell. I do believe that fragrance can play a very nice role in skincare if it makes you feel better. I started using it because I enjoy the scent and I just continued using it particularly on my neck because we all start noticing that laxity that starts to build. This is the Clarins Double Serum and you can clearly see that I've been using this one because of the clear chamber, which is interestingly the only one that has a clear chamber. It is an expensive one for $135. It has a base of water and oil so you can actually see the water and the oil and you have to mix them together. It does feel oily and it does feel like it has a tackiness and a residue, but I will apply it on my neck and I just love the smell so much. It has turmeric in it. Turmeric is not a miracle ingredient, but it does address some signs of aging and has some anti-inflammatory benefits. This product in particular has something known as organic giant prental reed which neutralizes the impact of skin aging from the world and environmental stress and it does give a firming effect to your skin. I would try this on your neck if you have crepy skin on your neck."
"It has hyaluronic acid and hydrayed lime seed extract which stimulates epidermal thickening. So the combination of these two chambers in this one product is really like two products in one. Although it retails for $295, you might almost want to think of it as two separate products for $150 each. It doesn't make it cheaper, but this is one that patients come into my practice requesting and that is why I have it because the reviews from the patients have been stellar and people love this."

How To Prevent & Treat Crepey Skin from a Dermatologist! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"SkinMedica TNS serum has growth factors, cytokines, and Matrix proteins that people swear by. This is a particular product I recommend for patients who cannot tolerate retinols on their neck even though they try to buff it with a moisturizer. I tell them just go for this for your neck or those hard to reach areas. It's a great adjunct to have."
What $295 Gets You in Growth Factor Serums vs. $46....EXPOSED! | Dr. Idriss
"My number one product for epidermal growth factors is going to be the TNS Advanced+ Serum by SkinMedica. This is tried and true and yes it is expensive, but this has EGF, TGF beta, and FGF, okay? And they're all human derived. It means human skin was put in a culture medium and that culture medium was then taken, filtered, sterilized and stabilized and you're getting that and that's what you're applying on the surface of your skin. This works best for deep wrinkles, elasticity. I love it post-procedurally after micro needling, any type of radio frequency with micro needling, any type of frail. It really does help to renew your skin and works best for deep aging concerns and it comes at a pricey heft of nearly $295. But this is something that I don't necessarily use every single night because of the price."

But I may use this on my neck and chest if I do not tolerate the retinols, especially after I exfoliate. I love her. She's great."
"Necessaire has a neck serum which is basically a peptide rich serum with five different clinically proven peptides at a 9% blend that helps to support your natural collagen production. You can use this on your face as well. You do not have to limit it just to your neck. I think it was very smart of them to create a neck product, but the neck product can be used for your face. And if you are pregnant, you can definitely use this. It is a very lightweight serum, kind of creamy."
"The classic vitamin C that everyone thinks about is SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic, the hot dog sauce or the hot dog water. It is an OG. It is active vitamin C, L-ascorbic acid. But that's not necessarily for everyone. If you're sensitive, I wouldn't recommend it, because L-ascorbic acid can inflame your skin and that can make your pigmentation worse."

How to Treat & Fade Acne Scars like a Dermatologist! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"The active form of vitamin C is called ascorbic acid, kind of like in Skinceuticals C E Ferulic, but not everybody can tolerate ascorbic acid. If you have sensitive skin it might actually inflame some of your acne marks and turn them even more red, which might make them more brown in the long run. So if you're sensitive, look for a vitamin C ester instead of the active form. If you're not sensitive, knock yourself out with the active form, but just be careful marrying the active form to the next ingredient because it can be irritating because they are both quite aggressive."
Vitamin C Drama, Melasma Myths & Why Lasers May Make It Worse | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic has a great reputation for a reason. They have a patent on their particular ratio of vitamin C, vitamin E and ferulic acid at 15% L-ascorbic acid, 1% vitamin E and 0.5% ferulic acid. And this patented stabilization system has made it super effective over the years. But here's the tea: in March 2025, they lost their patent."

"SkinCeuticals, 182 dollars stuff right here, is it good? Yeah, it's good. Is it worth 182? Um, if you love it sure, but I don't think so. And can't they upgrade the dropper because it's a waste? You feel like you're like a rat in a race against time when you buy this product."
6 Retinol Myths Debunked! How to CORRECTLY Use Retinoids | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"L ascorbic acid is the active form of vitamin C and the most irritating form of vitamin C when you combine that with an irritating ingredient whether it is an exfoliating acid or a retinol or whatever it is it's going to have the potential of being slightly more irritating together and if you are sensitive you probably do not want to combine the two. The bigger reality is that vitamin C is not vitamin C across the board this is where formulation matters."
"Allies of Skin has their Peptides and Antioxidants Firming Daily Treatment, which is nice and it is definitely an underrated ingredient, but worth looking into, especially if you cannot afford laser treatments, which is going to be the gold standard to treating these broken blood vessels that have been there for a long time."
"Topicals Faded Brightening Serum is another one that you guys can try, but for consistency you have to use it twice a day and that is essential and key if you want to see results."
"Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Sensitive Skin Serum has a dynamic duo of Centella Asiatica and Panthenol. This serum retails for $54 and it soothes redness and strengthens your barrier."
"Skin Medica's TNS Advanced Serum can help to stimulate fibroblast to produce more collagen and elastin and to help reduce crepiness and laxity overall. You can use it longer term for your neck and your chest. It will take longer for you to see full results, but you can absolutely use it. "Skin Medica TNS Advanced Serum, you can use from here to here, you will not get irritated on your neck unlike if you use a retinol on your neck and chest. Most of you will get irritated and you will hate me, so you can go wild with this. You can even find hexapeptide 2 which helps with fine lines in the active seal, so there's vitamin C, peptides, and the moisturizer is also ceramides in this. This is purely growth factors and peptides in here. I use this at night underneath my moisturizer, which gives me an extra boost."
How to Prevent Skin Thinning & Boost Your Collagen! From a Dermatologist | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"Growth factors like this, Skin Medica TNS Advanced Serum, this is the one from my practice, this can stimulate fibroblasts which are the cells responsible for producing collagen to increase collagen synthesis. It's a blend of growth factors, cytokines, and Matrix proteins. It is pricey, so I will tell you if you've tried all the rest but you feel like you need more, then venture into this. If you want something for your neck and chest and you've never been able to tolerate a retinol but you want something more than coenzyme Q10, try this. It definitely helps."

"It comes in a dual chamber pump and you get two types of serums that get pumped out of it that you mix together when you apply it. There is a very light scent to it, just beware because it does pill over other products that have actives. I personally use this at night on my face, neck, and chest. I actually use this exclusively on my neck and chest on most nights because my neck and chest cannot always tolerate a retinol and sometimes it gets irritated. Their growth factor cocktail is made up of medium and long amino acid sequences, which are basically small proteins that help your cells signal one another to stimulate growth, proliferation, and differentiation, which is what you want your skin to have in order to stay youthful."
"I absolutely love this vitamin C serum. It's extremely affordable. It is the active form of vitamin C and it comes in a pump. So you're not dealing with a dropper and it's not going to oxidize fast. If you've ever bought a skin care product with vitamin C, it turns brown pretty quick and that just means it's oxidized. We got to toss it. It's not going to work. At least here it's in a pump. That doesn't mean it has zero exposure to air, but the exposure is much less and therefore is going to oxidize much slower."

It comes in an opaque pump which I prefer to a dropper even though I know that a pump and a dropper both get a little bit of air in it. I still think the pump is overall better. "Timeless Vitamin C at 24 bucks is a 10% active vitamin C, L-ascorbic acid with vitamin E and ferulic acid. It's a great, very great price point and people love vitamin C, but L-ascorbic acid, which is the active form of vitamin C, can be irritating for many. Hence why I don't necessarily recommend it, especially if you have hyperpigmentation, because you don't want to make the hyperpigmentation worse."

"The E.L.F. one is in the exact same ratio as the C furulic at the 15%, 1%, and 0.5%. But I also want you guys to keep in mind that ingredients do not make a recipe. Just keep that in mind if you are going to try it. It has ascorbic acid. It may be tempting, but it can also be extremely irritating and it might not be super stable and only time will tell. If you have melasma, I would just approach all of these very, very, very conservatively because you don't want to irritate or inflame your skin."

I will preface it by saying that it stinks. Paula's Choice 10% azelaic acid at 10% over the counter is ideal, otherwise get yourself a 15% prescription. It will pill, and azelaic acid is one of those ingredients that I use at night and not necessarily in the morning because it's just not cosmetically elegant. If you're sensitive or you think your barrier is inflamed, beware, don't go for it because the salicylic acid might mess you up. But azelaic acid regulates your anti-inflammatory properties and antibacterial properties and it helps as an antioxidant as well."
"It's Allies of Skin Multipeptides & Growth Factor Advanced Lifting Serum. It has 3% growth factor complex which is their complex that is meant to enhance skin repair and strengthen your barrier function, and it has a 9% lifting peptide complex, another complex made out of multiple peptides that improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is very expensive, but I think when you're testing out very expensive products that have these claims of helping lines and wrinkles, test it on areas where your skin is thin. Anti-Aging Skincare for 50s+, Mature Skin, & Menopause | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"I most recently came across Allies of Skin Multipeptides & Growth Factor Advanced Lifting Serum and this one, it's really beautiful. It is hydrating because it has phospholipids and glycolipids in it. It does help improve firmness because of the copper lysinate, but it has something called SH, which stands for synthetic human oligopeptide one, which is a growth factor complex that mimics epidermal growth factors in humans to stimulate collagen production. It's bioengineered and it is lovely. She retails for a whopping 188, but I will tell you I love it, and I've also been using it on my neck."

There is no scent to it and you can use it up to twice a day. This one retails for 18. If you are somebody who wants something very light, you can actually use this slightly under your eyes but you do not need to go and invest in a majorly expensive eye cream. If you are prone to comedones, I probably would not do this."

"The In Beauty Project Elastic Skin Serum is a more affordable option for 42 bucks and it has encapsulated vegan growth factors at 6%, it also has copper and biohacking peptides. Copper peptides help with anti-inflammatory effects and help with the aging process. Just don't use this in the same routine as your ascorbic acid. You can probably use it with Ester vitamin C, so if you're using an active vitamin C use this at night and use the active vitamin C in the morning. This one also has no fragrance and it does contain HA as well. It has a light periwinkle hue to it and it is very very very very sticky and tacky, which is not necessarily my favorite."
"I think there's better out there for brightening. If you are at a wit's end and you have really bad melasma and you're trying to add every possible product on the market and you're not reactive to niacinamide, adding this with a complete serum or something that is a little bit more potent is a great add-on. But for me, I'm under control, so I don't think I'll be using it in my routine."

"The prescription is 15% which is the sweet spot, and I don't know how the prescription is formulated but it's so elegant. Finacea is so elegant. Azelaic acid at that percentage, when you're using it for rosacea, you really want to be at 10% or above, but above that is prescription and prescription is 15%."
"The Ordinary has thought outside the box and decided to mirror ingredients together to create a multi-ingredient story, which makes my heart flutter when you are looking for skincare products you want to look for multi-ingredient stories to really streamline your routine. This one is their soothing and barrier support serum for $7. The name tells you what it does: it helps to calm your barrier and to repair your barrier. It has vitamin B12, which helps to support your skin barrier by reducing dryness and visible redness. It also has centella asiatica and gallic acid. If you are a real nerd, you know that gallic acid helps to target redness associated with external stressors on the skin and by reducing water loss, so it's a very interesting product for your barrier."
"Timeless has really good vitamin C products. These are 10% ascorbic acid as well as a 20%. The orange one is the 10 and the yellow one is the 20. It comes in an opaque pump which I prefer to a dropper. It retails for 24 bucks."
"This is the Timeless skincare line that is usually found at drugstore you're going to have your 20% vitamin C and your 10% vitamin C. This is ascorbic acid, the active form of vitamin C, and it is also combined with ferulic acid and vitamin E, which is the classic combination that you think of when you think of skin care vitamin C serum. It is a very clear lightweight serum and I love that it comes in an opaque pump and not a silly dropper, so it is definitely winning when it comes to packaging and when it comes to bang for your buck since it only retails for $27. Ascorbic acid is not for everyone, it can be very irritating and is hard to formulate, but even though this comes in an opaque pump, you probably do want to use it up in a time-sensitive fashion."
"I use this one by L'Oreal. I always switch the dropper with a pump. If you have cold sores beware it can make your cold sores come out with a vengeance so I would approach very cautiously, but I like to exfoliate my lips with an exfoliating acid and not a physical scrub because I've always found it causes more layers of dead skin that I end up wanting to pick with my mouth and ends up being a bigger disaster."

Fall Nighttime Skincare Routine: Face & Body! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
Glycolic Acid vs. Salicylic Acid: Is it for Your Skin Type & Concern? | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"L'Oreal has their glycolic acid Serum at 10 percent. It has a long play time. It is honestly kind of expensive for 33 bucks for just glycolic acid, but it is a beautiful basic glycolic acid serum. I do like it because it goes a long way. I like the texture and it gives your skin a nice sheen. It also has aloe extracts in it which helps a little bit for soothing benefits. I hate the dropper."
"Rosemary oil is a nice adjunct to use. It has been shown to be as effective as minoxidil, however you have to use it twice a day, not just once a day, for at least six months to see full effect. It helps to improve blood circulation, block DHT, it is an anti-inflammatory and has great antioxidant properties."
"Cocokind has a great Ceramide Barrier Serum with five different ceramides and lipids that support your skin's natural moisture barrier and a very powerful humectant also known as beta glucan. It's their super saturated 30% glycerin, weirdest freaking texture on Earth, slimy AF, but you'll have to mix very little. It's something that I put in my moisturizer to give my moisturizer extra oomph."
"It's only 15 bucks and it's worth a shot of incorporating into your routine if you are desperate for effects to help you with your skin. It's lightweight enough where you feel like your skin is going to absorb it nicely. You might as well use it elsewhere on your neck on your chest anywhere else. If you're somebody who's drier though, because this is not going to be great for very dry skin."
"The number one product within our Sephora picks for dark spots is my hyper serum. This is a powerhouse serum that comes with a refill for 68 bucks. Why is it a powerhouse? Because it has kojic acid, arbutin, licorice root, niacinamide, dioic acid, gallic acid in addition to the fact that it is hydrating upon application and it gives an instant glow. Now the instant glow doesn't mean that it's working instantly. It just gives you the oomph to keep carrying on because the name of the game is consistency."

"The hyper serum is like for me the best of all worlds because this is going to help to minimize the look of brown discoloration. There's also an ingredient in the hyper serum that reduces the look of redness and that is digosil galic acid. If you're using these during the day, make sure to apply the hyper serum at night. And if you're using these at night, make sure to apply the hyper serum during the day because it works really nicely together to get the red and the brown out of your face."

"My personal baby that I absolutely could not live without for me would be the Dr Idriss Major Fade Hyperpigmentation Serum because I have had melasma and I've kept it really calm at bay over the past two years. I haven't done a laser treatment since September 2022 and the way I think I've kept my melasma at bay is by being super consistent with an over-the-counter skincare routine. It has been the staple of my routine and has truly been one of these three products for my discoloration. I do think most people develop brown spots because we're out and about, we're living in the sun, you probably weren't wearing sunscreen when you were a kid and you're going to get them as you get older, and so you want to suppress how those appear over time."

"It is our best selling product and it is an award-winning product. If I had to choose a favorite, she would be it. I like her over makeup as well because it just gives this instant glow. I kind of sometimes use it as a highlighter, knowing that my skin is reaping the benefits. My melasma is really over here in the summer, but I use this over anything I put on my face. The hyper serum contains a bunch of actives that are going to even out your skin tone from salicylic acid, arbutin, licorice root, D-glucosamine gallic acid which can help with redness, glycerin, and it has a little bit of niacinamide not more than 5%. It is loaded with a bunch of other actives as well."

And it comes with a roller ball, so you can help get a lymphatic drainage as you apply the serum."
Top 8 Ingredients to Treat Redness & Rosacea from a Dermatologist! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"It has centella asiatica, arnica, and azelaic acid in it which all have anti-inflammatory effects and it reduces the look of inflammation. It has been shown to promote collagen production and it also has certain antioxidants that can protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. I love this product if you have rosacea because it is loaded in centella asiatica but it also has arnica, and arnica is not one that is traditionally thought of for rosacea but it works like a charm because it helps reduce the redness and calms the inflammation in a synergistic way so your skin looks less flushed within a couple of minutes when done correctly. Arnica is tricky though because when you look for arnica products more often than not they're diluted in a homeopathic fashion. This one is purely arnica because it is pure arnica. The golden hue you see here is due to the high concentration of arnica in this formulation."
"My hero pick is the Dr. Idris Major Fade Hyper Serum because it is multitasking. It is a hydrating serum that also brightens. It is a brightening serum that also hydrates. "This is a brightening serum that is hydrating. It has kojic acid, arbutin, licorice fruit, and when you buy it you get a second cartridge as well in order to ensure freshness so that they do not get exposed to light or air. This retails for $68 and it is great for evening out your skin tone and it gives your skin an extra sheen. If you're somebody who needs an additional boost when it comes to hormonal breakouts or discoloration or both, kojic acid is a nice one to add in during this step. I will preface it by saying that it stinks. Kojic acid at 10% over the counter is ideal. Kojic acid is one of those ingredients that I use at night and not necessarily in the morning because it's just not cosmetically elegant. I have yet to find a pure kojic acid that doesn't pill, so you incorporate it at night if you have breakouts or pigmentation issues."

"If it is due to pigmentation that has gotten slowly worse over time and you really don't have any genetic predispositions you want to look for products like the Pillow Talk Durham hyper serum which is a serum that has brightening ingredients. What are the brightening ingredients? Kojic acid, arbutin, licorice root, a little bit of niacinamide can help and even the hydration through the glycerin can make a big difference. This is not a dedicated eye cream but a serum for the rest of the face that is moisturizing and can also double up in fact as an eye cream. "You can use an over-the-counter retinol at 0.25 or 0.3% and use it after a thick moisturizer or an occlusive like Vaseline on your neck and chest. "I really love Ultherapy because it doesn't break the skin barrier and it delivers ultrasound energy versus any sort of micro needling with radio frequency. I'm a little bit always more nervous because of my melasma, but I've done Ultherapy every 2 years for like the past few years or so. And even though the results are not dramatically wow, they have definitely helped over time to keep my face looking tight."
"Liquid rhinoplasty, non-surgical nose jobs where injectors are injecting dissolvable fillers, hyaluronic acid based fillers like Restylane or Juvéderm into your nasal bridge or the tip of your nose to hide any lumps bumps, to make it appear straighter, to lift the tip up, or to have a more refined look, is a huge risk. It's something that I do not recommend."

It was originally developed as an oral pill for blood pressure and they noticed people were actually growing their hair when they were on this blood pressure medication, and so they thought why not make it topical where people can apply it topically on their scalp. It is also now available over the counter at anywhere from three to five percent. If you are a woman losing hair, go on Rogaine but pick the men's strength, go for the five percent because more often than not you're gonna see that minoxidil is targeting women at three percent. "Examples of hydrocolloid patches that I like are these very simple natural ones, these are by Neutrogena, they're stubborn acne patches. These are ones by Mighty Patch. Do not be fooled by the difference here. These are invisible, these are the original, these are just slightly thicker, these are a little bit thinner. Ultimately they work the same way, and so they're not different in terms of what they offer. One is just a little bit thinner, which is the invisible one versus the original, pretty much identical."
"Hibiclens is an antiseptic that is often used prior to surgery to kill any bacteria on our skin. It can work wonders if you are somebody who is breaking out, especially below the belt on your butt and you have buttne. I'm talking about people who work out who wear their spandex who don't necessarily get out of them as fast as they should or who are chronically sitting or are just prone to having acne on their butt or even their back. Hibiclens can make a big difference. But there's a huge, huge, huge red flag with Hibiclens: do not get it near your eyes or your ears. It can cause toxicity to your ears and your eyes. So keep it below the neck for sure."

"Since April I have been on oral minoxidil because I couldn't take the irritation from the topical one and it was making me look like I had dandruff, and honestly this has been one of the most impressive things that have changed the course of my hair. You do have to be careful if you have any heart issues to not go on this, make sure you check with your primary care physician or your dermatologist or both or your cardiologist if you have one, but it's the thing that made the biggest difference in my hair. I used to take it seven nights a week when I first started and I noticed an insane amount of hair growth everywhere else, so I had to slow it down and I probably take it now four nights a week to maintain it. I've also noticed that my hair still looks nice and full but my facial hair and hair elsewhere is not as insane as it was when I first started off."

"Radiesse is a calcium derivative, it is a much firmer filler. It is not made up of hyaluronic acid and you cannot break it up the same way you can break up hyaluronic acid. You also do not metabolize it the same way as you metabolize hyaluronic acid. When you inject Radiesse in your face, especially along your bone or your jawline, when you take an x-ray you can actually see it because of the calcium. It can give you a firmer looking appearance to your face. The good news is it doesn't last forever in that sense, because you don't want it to last forever and you want to grow with your face."
"We have radio frequency heat which is basically a variation of a theme that is delivered to your skin without breaking the surface of your skin like Thermage. These are all treatments that help to tighten whether radio frequency or ultrasound whether you micro needle married to radio frequency or not, they're all variations of a theme. Just the right amount, everything in moderation, slight consistency over intensity over time can make a difference."
"Skinvive is a hyaluronic acid booster. I don't love the marketing around it if I'm being frank. It is not hydrating your skin. All it is doing is being placed superficially and being able to spread superficially so it can give a tautness appearance to your skin where it looks like your skin is hydrated but it's not actually hydrating your skin."
"The biggest side effects for both men and women are going to be libido, which can truly really happen, I actually had patients who've complained about this and it is very hard to reverse, so I personally do not give finasteride orally anymore. You can have erectile dysfunction and it could really also even affect women. Finasteride is available topically, and we believe there's going to be much less systemic absorption because it's localized to the area that you're treating. There is still potentially a chance that it can be systemically absorbed, so all of those side effects that I mentioned are possibilities, but they are much less likely to happen. However, if you're trying to carry a baby or you want to get pregnant or you are pregnant, I would just avoid finasteride topically until you're done with that phase of your life. It works topically by blocking five alpha reductase, which makes dihydrotestosterone. Honestly, I think anybody, man or woman, who's not looking to have a baby should be on this topically as an adjunct to minoxidil. It works really well together."
"Three treatments one month apart is what you need to know if you are actually going to respond to it. Not necessarily everybody responds, but when you do it works amazing and the pictures prove it. It helps to prolong the growth phase of your hair cycle, it increases the thickness of existing hair strands, and it stimulates dormant or sleepy hair follicles. I think PRP is a wonderful adjunct and it is low risk. Just definitely make sure you're going to something reputable, you do not need to buy yourself an infection or get yourself an unwanted problem. But if it works, you have your own fertilizer in your body that you can use once or twice or three times a year as often or as little as you see fit."

"Dr Idris Major Fade Active Seal is my favorite because it has Tetra hexal desis corate which is not the active form of vitamin C and it comes in a gel moisturizer so you can use this twice a day in the morning and you can use it at night with a retinol and not be afraid of irritating your skin. I get 24 hours of vitamin C on my skin in the morning and at night to help with the look of any sort of brown spots discoloration hyperpigmentation. It is glycerin based and there's no hyaluronic acid in the moisturizer because you don't need it, you're going to get it through other products."

"If you're looking for a moisturizer that has actives that also moisturizes, this is where I like to incorporate vitamin C in it because you get the two in one. It minimizes the step of having to invest in a simple vitamin C serum but you can also use a vitamin C while hydrating your skin in the process. The Dr Idris Major Fade Active Seal has a vitamin C ester in it plus peptides and ceramides to lock in hydration and the weight of this moisturizer is relatively lightweight so that it can fit most skin types but it is extremely silky and smooth on application on the skin."

"I developed the Pillow Talk Durham de-puffer, which is a combination of centella asiatica and niacinamide to help regulate the redness and inflammation that comes with hormonal shifts in your 30s, plus it has arnica as well as hydroxyphenol propylaminobenzoic acid, which regulates histamine production so you're not as puffy and you're not as red. In your 30s, if you go out and have a wild night out, you're going to wake up red in the morning, and this is going to be your best friend before sunscreen. It comes in the form of a roller so you can roll around your eyes to help mechanically de-puff, but if you don't want to roll and you just want to use the serum, you can take the roller head off and use it just like that. It's clinically proven to reduce the look of redness."
"Tretinoin is a retinoid and is one of the most studied topical ingredients in all of dermatology that has one of the strongest proven track records in terms of collagen production, thickening your skin over time, evening out your skin tone, helping to minimize the look of fine lines and improving the look of laxity. It is the most powerful anti-aging ingredient that we have. Nothing, no PDRN, no exosomes, no salmon DNA, no growth factors, at least topically in over-the-counter skin care, stands close to it. Tretinoin does two things when it comes to aging. One, it increases cell turnover. As we live life every day, our skin cells go from the lowest layer of our skin to the highest layer and it cycles over 28 days. But as we get older, our cycling slows down from 28 days to 38 days to 48 days and our skin starts to look tired and ruddy and a little dull. Tretinoin basically helps to make sure that that keeps going at a regular pace so that as you get older, the cells come up faster, your skin stays brighter, and your skin looks more even. The second thing, which is a very big one, is that it stimulates collagen production. Collagen is a structural protein that keeps our skin firm and plump."
"Aveeno Calm + Restore Oat Gel Moisturizer. Holy grail. I've been talking about it since 2019, 2020. I'm obsessed. Colloidal oatmeal really does help to soothe irritation, hydrate deeply, and help repair the skin barrier by replenishing your skin's lipids. It contains acetylol tetropeptide 40, a next-gen peptide that helps your skin stay calm under pressure and reduces visible redness by strengthening very fragile capillaries and soothing inflamed skin over time. And zinc PCA, which is your skin's stress manager. It's going to help balance oil, calm inflammation, irritation, and keep bacteria under control. This is going to regulate your sebum, minimize your redness, and support your skin. If you have eczema and flare-ups, this is really helpful for healing your skin."

"Aquaphor wins when it comes to the body because they have an ointment body spray which I am obsessed with. It is an ointment that you can literally spray on your skin without getting that crazy greasiness of an ointment that you're using on your skin, and it just gets dispersed more evenly. At night, if it's very dry and you're going to wash your hair the next morning, you can put it on your face, or you can maybe spray it on your hands first and then apply it to your face if you don't want to ruin your hair, but you can actually use this to lock in the rest on your face. I will argue that it is actually much more elegant than slugging with just Vaseline. It's great for covering more areas, and it is great for the body as well. I do this after the shower for my body to lock in the hydration. Just make sure a towel is on the floor so you don't slip and slide, because that has happened to me."

"This guy by Augustinus Bader, this is their body cream. I love their body cream. It's very expensive, 190 bucks, but you could take a little bit and make it go a very long way by using just a little bit of this on your neck, using a tiny bit of this even for your under eyes if you wanted, because it's a much thicker moisturizer. This is super thick and it kind of reminds me of Nivea, which is a complete insult because it is not Nivea and it's much more expensive, but you do not need to be using this much all the time. This has bisabolol, which helps to support your skin's barrier function, shea butter as well. It's extremely rich. I mean, this just feels lux, and sometimes skincare is aspirational."

"The In Beauty Project extreme cream for 48 bucks, I actually really like the product but I hate that they market it with a 'bio retinol' which is completely misleading in terms of messaging because what exactly is a bio retinol? TBD, I still don't know. But it does have a ceramide complex with ceramide NP, EOP, and AP in it, and ceramides are going to keep our skin feeling soft and supple and nice and flexible, so it's really really good for your neck and even your décolletage. It is thick but still relatively fluffy so it's not going to sit down and just make you suffocated completely. It is much more lightweight than Cetaphil and it is oilier in terms of residue than Cetaphil, which is interesting because Cetaphil is more of a petrolatum."
"Drunk Elephant has just come up with their Bora Barrier Repair Cream, and I saw on social that they were duping this and comparing this to a diaper rash cream, but it is not comparable because it is zinc gluconate in this particular product, not zinc oxide. It is a nice barrier cream with squalane, ceramides, and other ingredients. But it's not exactly what I'm referring to when I talk about face basting because of the zinc, the lack of zinc oxide in it. So if you are somebody who is acne prone with dry skin, might be worth looking into this particular product for that reason. But if you're trying to face baste to really repair your skin from an inflamed skin barrier, you could do better than this."

Zinc oxide is better when it comes to fully restoring a barrier, but this one is great for hydration and locking it in. It is white. I use this all over my face and the same way that I base my lips. I apply it at night and then I go to sleep. I let it melt into my skin. I probably put it on half an hour to an hour before I go to bed, and then it just melts and does its thing, and the next day my skin is like glowy. It's also a nice one if you are feeling slightly inflamed. I do wish the zinc was slightly different to have more of an anti-inflammatory effect and more a restorative effect, but nonetheless it works pretty damn well and it really is a very nice overnight mask situation."

"Triple Paste, zinc oxide is a beautiful ingredient. It has anti-inflammatory effects. When a kid has a rash down there, you slap this all over their little tushies in a gentle way in order to minimize their rash, to calm the inflammation down so they have less friction on their privates. When it comes to your face, if you have an inflamed skin barrier and you're trying to restore your barrier, zinc oxide can really help restore that barrier. And when it comes in the form of a diaper rash cream, when it's married to petrolatum, it will help create an occlusive layer while calming any inflammation down, and it works wonders as an overnight mask treatment, especially in a dry climate or in a very cold climate or when the temperatures are changing. Not all diaper rash creams are created equal. Don't go for one with essential oils, definitely don't, and make sure there's no steroid in it because that can make things worse. This is probably my favorite one. I have two kids who are six and four, and this was the one that I used on my kids."
Top Hydrating Moisturizers to Strengthen Your Skin Barrier | Dr. Idriss’ Best Picks for Healthy Skin
"Triple Paste is a great second one to try that doesn't have any of that white residue because there's no zinc in it. It's not going to be as good in terms of an anti-inflammatory perspective but it's going to be great in terms of locking in moisture. If you're somebody who gets flushed but you're not sensitive and you have dry skin, so your skin is always red and you're just trying to cool your skin down while keeping it hydrated and dewy, this is it. It smells like a spa, yes it has fragrance, there is MGA which is a menthol derivative in it and it does actually cool your skin. It's not just the idea that it's cooling your skin, it has been shown to reduce your skin's temperature by 7 degrees so it will cool your skin."

"I love this stuff. I would use it all the time on my babies when they were babies, but I use it when I have any sort of irritation and I also use it in the winter when my face is really dry and inflamed with windburn. Triple Paste has zinc oxide in it to help reduce inflammation, soothe redness, flaking and itchiness. I reserve this once you've reached the other extreme of looking red, flaky and off and you want to restore your skin back to where it was."

"Triple Paste is an all-time fave. It is not exactly a moisturizer, it is more of an occlusive and it's going to seal the deal. It has zinc oxide in it, zinc oxide has anti-inflammatory benefits. It also gives a white cast. Because it is extremely rich, basically it is petrolatum, it is like Vaseline with zinc oxide, it's going to seal everything in and reduce inflammation. I put on a thick layer 30 minutes to an hour before I go to sleep at night at the end of my skincare routine, and although I look kind of ghostlike by the time I wake up in the morning it has absorbed and I wash my face normally with water. It's beautiful. I would strongly advise you try this out anywhere from two to four times a week at night. If you live in a humid environment or you're oily, I probably would not do that."
5 Easy Steps to Repair a Broken Skin Barrier FAST | Reactive Skin Reset by Dr. Idriss
"My diaper rash cream of choice is Triple Paste because I have literally gone through every single diaper rash cream on my kids' tushies and I am telling you this was the best one ever. It would help heal their cracked skin. The way it works is that because it has petroleum jelly plus zinc oxide, which has anti-inflammatory effects, it would help to heal and soothe your skin as well and not just act like an occlusive. Plus, it has a little bit of cornstarch that would wick away extra moisture. So when you are putting this directly on inflamed skin, that can be helpful if you are making sure that you are also using Vaseline underneath or you are making sure that your skin is not completely dehydrated."
"I go in with the Dr. Idriss Active Seal, which is a two-in-one moisturizer with added benefits of vitamin C. The vitamin C in here can be used twice a day, even after you exfoliate."

"I always do my first step of my double cleanse which includes the Bioderma Sensibio H2O and what I like to do is spray it directly onto my face. Each spritz is like I don't know how many drops or mini droplets of it, it allows it to go into all the tiny nooks and crannies and I like to focus it on the mascara and the eyeliner."
"Bioderma in my opinion is superior. I've tried them all. Bioderma is the best one when it comes to micellar water. The pink cap is for sensitive skin and the blue cap if you have drier skin."

"I have used this product for many years. This is Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water, it is a pink top micellar water, but do not confuse this one with the Garnier one. The Garnier one looks identical and they can often be confused, but this in my experience is the superior micellar water. It does have a little spice on the skin, very, very light. If you're very sensitive, you're going to feel it. My eyes are extremely sensitive, so I felt it slightly around the eyes. There is some makeup still left behind. It's not great at cleaning your face, but again, it is an active cleanser, so maybe you want to go in first with a gentle cleanser before going in with this."
"Starting with a gentle cleanser, wash your face every single night. Especially if you live in the city, you want to get all that crud and buildup off of your face because this stuff is going to cause your collagen to break down faster. "Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser is a great one for people with very sensitive skin. It is basically free of everything, so you're not going to get irritated by this cleanser. The negatives are it's not the best at removing makeup, so you're going to need something else to remove the makeup first. It can be a little bit irritating around the eyes. I have very very sensitive eyes and I do not attempt to play peek-a-boo with this cleanser while I'm washing my face because my eyes get burnt in the process. But it's an easy one, it's a great one for everyday use, and it is basically one that is not going to irritate your skin if you have a lot of allergies."

"Vanicream, as much as I love it, doesn't get all that makeup off nor the sunscreen off. Even though you can't see it, because it doesn't get the makeup off, it makes me think it's not getting the sunscreen off."
"A benzoyl peroxide cleanser is going to be ideal in helping to kill the acne-causing bacteria while helping to unclog the pores, so it's going to help not only with an active breakout but it's also going to help minimize further breakouts down the road. I love to keep this in the shower because it's going to bleach your towels, so it is a good idea to use this in the shower to ensure that you're going to wash it all off before you come out so you don't get any unwanted bleach spots on your towel or even your clothing."
"There are literally a million oil cleansers on the market and quite frankly I have tried many of them and hated every single one. The reason they have not worked for me for the most part is because they constantly break me out, maybe not in the short term but as I've stuck to them I have noticed that I break out eventually with them. Oil cleansers are not going to be for you if you're breaking out. Trying to wash your face with oils to get clogged pores off of your face doesn't make any sense and is not going to work in the long run."
"It has antimicrobial properties, anti-inflammatory properties, and sulfur has one of those abilities to really help regulate sebum production. So if you're somebody who thinks you have a lot of blackheads on your nose, those are probably not blackheads, they're probably something called sebaceous filaments, and sulfur can really help your pores and your filaments. It's the Kate Somerville Eradicate Daily Cleanser with sulfur, with 3% sulfur. It's a pink texture you can leave it on your face like a mask and then wash it off. If you're very sensitive and on the drier side, go for the Kate Somerville."
"The most basic I have been using is Vanicream Cream Cleanser. It burns my eyes, I'm not going to lie, and it doesn't get the makeup off great on its own, but it's not expensive and it does the job."
"Use ombrelease which will act as a primer this is a trick that a lot of makeup artists have used over the years it's a French moisturizer I do love the scent of it"
"One of the ones I love to recommend is Panoxyl, and with that said, this is the highest that you'll probably find over the counter at 10 percent. Not that it matters, the way I recommend using this is applying it to a clean face, letting it sit for five minutes, and then jumping into the shower, preferably while you're naked so that you do not bleach your clothes. This way it minimizes any impact that it may have on your towels. Now, if your acne is mild and not so severe and you get one or two blemishes, the Duo comes as a spot treatment so you can literally just put it on your acne spots and leave it on overnight. Again, make sure your bed sheets are white or else you will have some stains."

"Panoxyl comes at 10 percent benzoyl peroxide. Interesting fact, you don't need to have it at 10 for it to be effective, it's even effective at three to five percent. But just FYI, it may bleach your towels. The way I recommend using this is applying it to your body or your face while you're naked, brushing your teeth, letting it sit for 5-10 minutes standing, and then jumping into the shower and washing it off. Try not to sit on any sort of furniture or towel because it will bleach it, and it may dry you out."
"If you're an oily person and you're looking for a cleanser to help your skin, the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Purifying Foaming Cleanser is a great one to start with if you have a lot of acne. Two to three times a week, use this on your face, let it sit and wash it off. I usually apply it before I go into the shower so it could be in the morning or at night, but it is a great medicated cleanser and it only works if you allow it to sit on your face."

"For me the way I take off my makeup is I use my soft wash on my face when my skin is dry, I warm it up with water and then I apply it to my face and then I take a wet washcloth and then I work it in around my eyes. The reason I use this is because I can open my eyes while I wash my face which is key. And it is one of the best washes because I've really worked the hardest to formulate a cleanser that I can open my eyes with. If you're somebody who wears hardcore makeup you probably do need like something to break up your makeup but this is the most I wear and this is what I use on dry skin at night."

"The one that launched in the US is made up of US filters because laws exist, apparently, and they abide by the laws. And so, they're going to be a US-based chemical filter sunscreen of SPF 50, but it is absolutely beautiful in texture and finish. And it is loaded with an ingredient known as pentathin, which helps to boost hydration for up to 72 hours. Plus, it has squaline to lock in your moisture barrier. So, also for $36, this one is great for you if you are dry, living in a dry climate, or both, or worse, dry and living in a dry climate. But let's say you're oily. "First Aid Beauty's Hydrating Sunscreen Milk is great for all the sensitive souls out there who have not found their perfect match. This one might be it. For 36 bucks, it cannot be beat. It is a chemical SPF of 45 married to colloidal oatmeal, which is an ingredient that helps to reduce the look of redness, calm irritation, reduce sensitivities, and make your skin happy. So, if you haven't yet found your sunscreen, I would strongly urge that you try this one first."
"Allies of Skin has launched their sunless tan SPF 50 daily self-tanner which is a chemical sunscreen with DHA which is the classic ingredient found in self-tanners but you're not going to smell like a lab mouse when you use this and it's going to build a beautiful coverage slowly over time. It retails for $59. But the only thing I want to tell you guys about this is beware that if you overuse this product, you might end up looking like an Oompa Loompa, really, really orange. So you got to kind of pace yourselves and figure out what is the right rate for you to use this product. I'm guessing it's probably going to be once or twice a week."

"This is an SPF 50 PA4+ and it is a beautiful lightweight, light hydrating sunscreen. In summer, I sometimes do not feel the need to use a moisturizer underneath this, it gets me to where I need to go. In winter, as things get drier, yes, you can use a moisturizer underneath it. It is great for soothing your skin, reducing inflammation, and helping with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation because it has not only niacinamide in it, it also has chamomile extract. Everything I love about it is glycerin based. The filters in it are international filters, there's Avobenzone, Tinosorb S, Tinosorb M, as well as Isotropol, and this does offer a great UVA protective range. It's a hybrid of both chemical and physical sunscreens, so it's a great one. I absolutely love it. I think you guys should look into it, and it is relatively cheap and easy to get."
"Lightsaver is an activated mineral sunscreen, and it comes in a tinted version as well. I personally prefer the tinted version to the non-tinted version, but I think this particular sunscreen is great for people who are oily because it has a mattifying effect. It is fragrance free and it retails for $45. It is an SPF of 33."
"This is one by Neutrogena that I recently found at CVS that I bought. Any sunscreen that you like you should use because when you're protecting your skin and you're minimizing those active breakouts from getting darker you're also protecting yourself in the future from developing hyperpigmentation from your acne marks."

I'm not against all hyaluronic acid but I don't want you guys to be using HA in every step of your routine especially if it is low or super low molecular weight HA as I have seen it get slightly inflammatory when overused in the same routine. But if you guys are into the hyaluronic acid and you're looking for something hydrating, patients have told me they love this one. It is great if you have a broken skin barrier because it has birch tree sap which does decrease inflammation and purify your skin while hydrating your skin as well. "I like this tried and true Paula's Choice two percent BHA, even though toner makes no sense, it doesn't mean anything. It just means it's a salicylic acid exfoliant. It's $22. My personal preference is that you use it at night after washing your face so that you have a fresh base and you allow it to work on a clean slate. You do not need to be using it twice a day. Some people would much rather use it during the day because they're very oily and they use it to help regulate their oil production. If you're going to use it during the day, do not use it at night because you're going to be way overdoing it, inflaming your skin barrier in the process, and counter-intuitively potentially becoming oilier."

"Within the physical world, you have your physical scrubs, your lofah, etc. But you also have scrubs that are formulated in a product like a St. Ives scrub where they used to use crushed walnut shells. "I've been using their K18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask because as my hair started to get a little bit fuller and thicker I wanted to limit the weight of heavy conditioners on my hair that adds weight to my hair but my hair needs a conditioner. "First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub with 10% AHA is something that I would only recommend that you use on the body but not the face because it does feel a little bit scrubby. It has pumice buffing beads, it's borderline physical. Your body can tolerate this but never your face. Some people might think it's a great dupe to use as a physical exfoliant for the face, but the reality is you do not want to do that, especially if you are prone to breakouts on your face, because your face is more sensitive and you'll get micro tears and you'll make the breakouts more inflamed and you'll get worsening of your scars. If you have KP, which is non-inflamed growth around your hair follicles around your arms and your legs, you can use this to help to buff it. Let it sit on your skin so that the acid can work its magic and then work on buffing it before you wash it off. Make sure your skin gets skin time with it."

"First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub with 10% Alpha hydroxy acids, which are basically glycolic acid or lactic acid. This one feels like sand at the beach. I would not use this on your face at all because you do not want to get micro tears that can lead to furthering worsening of your inflammation, but on the body our skin is much thicker and able to tolerate it."
"Peter Thomas Roth has a sulfur mask that you can actually use as a mask and wash off too. His is a 10% sulfur mask with kaolin and bentonite clay to help absorb oil plus zinc oxide to calm your skin. It retails for $52 but it is 10% sulfur versus 3% of Kate Somerville, so I would urge you to try that one out if you cannot try the Kate Somerville. But if you're very sensitive and on the drier side maybe go for the Kate Somerville and not the Peter Thomas."

Sulfur: Underrated Ingredient for a Clear Skin! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"Peter Thomas Roth has a $52 10% sulfur mask that does not stink unlike the D Cruz which really does smell bad. This one smells kind of like a spa. It is a clay mask with kaolin and Bentonite clays to help absorb excess oil and purify the skin. It also has aloe vera to help calm the skin down. So this is a great option for a full face of acne and one that I would say is really easy and really nice and hydrating and delicate on the skin. You don't feel like your skin feels over stripped when you use this."
"Topicals Slather has an exfoliating body serum which has retinol, lactic acid, and urea. Just beware going to the beach you do not want to burn if you are using retinol on your body you really do have to protect your skin with a UV visor, a UPF rash guard, you name it."
"I'm obsessed with my Dr. Idriss Major Fade Flash Mask. This is an Allure best of beauty with 15% glycolic acid, 3% lactic acid, and transexamic acid. It is an exfoliating mask that does also hydrate at the same time. In the summertime, I maybe use it two times a week. In the winter time, I'll go up to four times a week. And sometimes when I'm really really lazy, I'll just put it on followed by the serum and the moisturizer and we just go to sleep because I can tolerate it and it gives you baby smooth skin the next day. "Glycolic acid is actually my favorite. AHA, alpha hydroxy acid that is going to not only exfoliate your skin, it is also going to help to hold on to hydration. Lactic acid has nothing to do with your pores. It's the bonus. It's going to help to brighten your skin in the process while exfoliating your skin. And these two exfoliating acids are in the Dr. Idris Major Fade Flash Mask, which is my exfoliating mask of choice that I do anywhere from two to four times a week. And sometimes I even sleep with it on my face overnight because I'm not sensitive to it. It's a hydrating exfoliating mask that is going to help with the overall appearance of your skin so your skin can look smoother and firmer over time giving you that flawless application of makeup the next day."

"The Dr. Idriss Major Fade Flash Mask. As you guys can see, this is a mask. So, you can dictate how long you want to leave it on for. And you can also choose where you use it. So, if you're sensitive here, don't go close to your eyes. I cannot use it around my nose because I'm very sensitive around my nose, but I'll put it on my cheeks, my forehead, my chin, my neck, my chest. I will do this especially once a week to get a smoother décolletage. It is great. The combination of glycolic and lactic acid, again, I'm very much a fan of my own products and this is what I use on my own face."

"This is an exfoliating mask that is loaded in glycolic acid at 15% and lactic acid. So you're going to exfoliate your skin. You're going to have a smoother surface. You can sleep with it overnight if you're not sensitive, but just approach cautiously if you've not used it. And I would patch test it first. And the fact that the glycolic acid is married to the lactic acid, it not only smooths your skin, but it also brightens your skin. And it also has transexamic acid, which is a medication that I prescribe in my office and even injects in my office for people with melasma. But we have it in the mask as well to really help boost the brightening process."

"It is a gel-based mask that you can leave on your face, you can even leave it overnight if you're not very sensitive. It is a 15% glycolic acid mask with lactic acid and tranexamic acid to help even out your skin tone and to make your skin feel baby smooth soft. I use it three times a week and it has been a game changer. My mother who is 67 has applied it to her sunspots on the back of her hands and left them on throughout the day and actually reapplied them throughout the day after washing her hands, and those sunspots, to my shock and surprise, are gone. It is formulated gently enough so most skin types can tolerate it."

"There's no fragrance, it's a beautiful tone and tint you can really see where you apply it. If you're sensitive, put it on for 5 minutes and wash it off. You will feel a spice as your pH of your skin acclimates. You can leave it on for up to 30 minutes, and if you're really not sensitive, you can put it on overnight. You wake up with the softest, smoothest skin ever. I put it from here to my chest in the morning when I shower and it's like, oh my god. When I do the trainings at Sephora now, I make the beauty advisers touch my face because you have to feel it to believe it."
Best Exfoliating Acids for Your Skin Type & Concern | Dermatologist Explains
"The Major Fade Flash Mask is a 15% glycolic acid mask, but products do combine acids with a 3% lactic acid as a bonus. The reason why I made it a mask is twofold. You should not be exfoliating every single night of the week. When it's a mask format, there's a barrier to entry, so you don't want to do it as often and therefore you want to exfoliate probably two to four times a week at most. The thing about a mask that is really unique and nice is that you can put it to any area of your face or body that you want to have it sit on for a few minutes and then wash it off. You can control where you apply it and how long you apply it for, and that is really unique to a mask and that is why we also made it as a mask format. Plus the other bonus is that this also has trizyamic acid which is an ingredient used for brightening as well. So the combination of that with the lactic acid and the glycolic acid make it a very effective mask. This one in particular does have an initial tingle. It is the pH of your skin acclimating to the product. It is not an irritation and it usually resolves around 1 to 2 minutes."
Erase Dark Spot Routine from a Dermatologist! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"I like to marry it to lactic acid because lactic acid can help minimize discoloration, and then we also in this particular product married it to tranexamic acid, which is not an exfoliating acid. If you have melasma you just want to throw everything at it, so combining it with an exfoliating acid allows it to work a little bit more efficiently, and that is why we mixed all three in the Dr Idris Major Fade Flash Mask. The beauty of a gel is you can pick how long you keep it on your face and where you apply it. So for me I always apply it on the high points of my face, I don't go too close into my orbital rim because it gets a little bit more sensitive there, and the skin underneath the eyes is more sensitive. I come on my forehead because you want to make sure that you are getting any sort of sunspots, and then down my nose lightly, lightly, lightly. I don't come in here or in here because that is going to get irritated. Few nights a week I'll put this on for 20 to 30 minutes. One night a week I'll even sleep with it and wash it off the next day. It is spicy for everyone who applies it and then it settles down. My skin feels nice, it feels smooth. It always gets a little bit red after I wash it off."

"This is made up of 15% glycolic acid, so it is already double in strength compared to the ordinary, so it is not necessarily for beginners but it is worth a try. And if you have sensitive skin, always, always patch test first. But it also has lactic acid, which is a brightening exfoliating acid, and the combination of these two is extremely powerful. Plus it's married to tranexamic acid to help with hyperpigmentation. You can be in control of where you apply it, you can apply it not too close to your eyes, you can apply it along your nasal bridge, you can apply it all over your face, or you can even use it as a spot treatment. You can use it elsewhere on your body because it comes in the form of a gel. You control where it goes and how long it stays, and then you wash it off."
Post-Summer Skin Reset: Brighter, Healthier, More Confident Skin | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"That is why I love the Dr. Idris Major Fade Flash Mask. Glycolic acid because it's going to help hydrate. It's also going to help promote collagen. So that's going to help even out fine lines and wrinkles in the long run. And lactic acid because she brightens while she hydrates. And the combination of the two is perfection."
"This mask offers something different than the rest. Most masks on the market only have red and near infrared light whereas this mask has red, near infrared, and deep near infrared light all which attack different things. The red light helps with wrinkle reduction, inflammation reducing, etc., whereas the near infrared can also go in a little bit deeper into your mitochondria to help with cellular regeneration, but the deep near infrared light can go even deeper into the subcutaneous tissue even affecting muscle enhancement and muscle tone. So it really does hit three different levels. The second reason why I was really intrigued by this mask is because one out of four light bulbs are used in production when they make this mask and they guarantee quality control. They have a program in which they are checking the wavelength of every single individual LED that is put into this mask. Current Body through their program now allows you to see every single light bulb that they used in their mask to guarantee that it is adequately quality controlled. The key with this mask, like any device that you're going to use, is going to be consistency. If you're going to want to see results with this, you want to use it every single night."

"A313 is a cult favorite in France. A lot of bloggers are like I don't understand the value of this because it's so light. Yes, it is light. It's a combination of some of the lightest retinoids on the market which are the retinol esters, retinol acetate, petate and propionate. But what's amazing about this is that it has some sort of like magic voodoo in it where your face has an instant effect the next morning and you look somewhat smoother. But you will be itchy. I still get itchy. I can't fully tolerate it all the time. I'm not going to lie. But it does give a nice instant gratification the next day if you can tolerate it. And even though it is lighter, you do have more of that instant gratification, so it's going to make you want to use it to get long-term gain."

It is very light but do not be fooled it does give an instant sort of glow the next day where your skin just feels tight and beautiful, but it can also be itchy when you apply it. It is a beautiful gel-like texture that goes on to your skin. Never use any sort of retinoid around this area because you will shed like a snake. I still can't tolerate it, it is what it is."

How to Prevent Skin Thinning & Boost Your Collagen! From a Dermatologist | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"The A313, it is a French Pharmacy cult favorite made up of three different retinol esters. This is good for beginners. Is it great for the veterans out there? Probably not. But there is one Hocus Pocus thing about this product: you get some instant gratification the next day, which is odd even to me, but you look better. I can't explain it."
"Kiehl's Micro-Dose retinol for $65 is a gentle formula, but it is a tried and true for people who use retinol. Not necessarily for beginners, but something that you may want to check out."
"Starting with a retinoid in your 20s is a great idea. Something I wish I would have done. As you hit 25, 26 you start to lose around 1% of collagen a year and as you start to use retinoids you can help with that collagen production over time. Over time being the key word. So even though you start using it in your 20s you're not going to see a massive difference then but your later self will thank you."
"Like Paula's Choice or any sort of retinol, try to use it on those areas. If you're nervous, put a moisturizer first and then apply it. Only do it at night and don't try to do it twice a day."
"Peter Thomas Roth has a Retinol Fusion PM night serum with 1.5% microencapsulated retinol. This is not for beginners because it is one of the strongest forms of over-the-counter retinol that you will find, but when I look through the retinol products at Sephora it was hard to find any of them that actually specified the percentage and this one does that. If you are trying to dip your toes you can try it. I would only recommend you use it once a week at night if you are a beginner, but if you are a veteran knock yourself out. As always with any retinol, avoid the mouth area and do not use it if you are conceiving, trying to conceive, or pregnant. This is one of the most beautiful products because this particular product does give your skin an instant glow, just gives it a nice beautiful sheen."
"E.l.f. has their Youth Boosting Advanced Night Retinoid Serum, which is a mix of granactive retinoid, also known as hydroxypinacolone retinoate, which is what you find in Caroline Hirons's retinoid, as well as 0.06% retinal and other antioxidants. It's a mix of various different types of retinols on the market. It has a very, very light scent to it but nothing crazy or repulsive. It is great for people who are beginners who want to actually grow beyond peptides into the retinol world but cannot fully tolerate stronger retinol or even a prescription active retinoid. Hydroxypinacolone retinoate tend to be gentler on the skin while supposedly delivering as effective results or close to effective results as an active form, which is the prescription. Put it on your neck and chest first and start low and go slow, maybe two or three times a week at most, and work your way up from there."

Best Drugstore Anti-Aging Budget Friendly Skincare Under $35! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"I really do like their Youth Boosting Advanced Night Retinoid Serum. There is some misleading marketing actually. They say one percent Gran active retinoid but one percent active retinoid is like point one percent hydroxypinacolone retinoate. Hydroxypinacolone retinoate is the cousin of tretinoin, the active form of retinol, so it's not exactly one percent, it is 0.1 percent. It's a great beginner's retinol, there's nothing wrong with it. It comes in a pump, it has a very bright orange color to it, that's all you really need for your whole face, and at 22 bucks you might as well give it a try and see if you can tolerate it, especially if you're very sensitive. It's a good one to start with."
"Retinol is not going to stimulate your hair growth but what it is going to do is stimulate the blood flow to your scalp with your cellular turnover of your skin, maybe potentially making the other products work better for you. Plus it regulates your sebum and people's hair also have too much oil on their scalp so it can maybe help with that."
"No7 Advanced Retinol 1.5 Complex is made up of 0.3 percent retinol and Matrixyl 3000, which is a peptide complex, so you're getting well-aging anti-aging benefits from both. It is equivalent to the L'Oreal Revitalift Retinol in the dropper at 0.3 percent but it has peptides as well. I like the fact that it comes in a pump and not a dropper. I think it is a very good one if you're looking for a light over-the-counter retinol."
"Granactive retinoids are a class of retinoic acid, so it's a cousin of the prescription. It's stronger than retinol and it works faster because it automatically works within your cell, but it is less irritating. So it is an interesting one to try if you've never been able to tolerate a retinol or a retinoid or a retinal ester. You may be able to tolerate this one."

This is an emulsion at 2% and the active form of the retinoic acid ester in here comes at 0.2%. So it is like a beginner's retinoid."
"Skin Rocks Retinoid 2 has 0.5 percent hydroxypinacolone retinoate, which makes for a stronger product. It automatically works within your cell but it is less irritating, so it is an interesting one to try if you've never been able to tolerate a retinol or a retinal ester. You may be able to tolerate this one."
"If you are a beginner and you're looking for a nice basic retinol to include at night in your routine it is this one by L'Oreal. I do hate the fact that it comes in a dropper and it is quite runny, but you do not need more than this much for your full face. If you want to be adventurous you could use this on your neck only after you have moisturized because you want to buffer the retinol so that it doesn't irritate your neck. You start maybe two times a week at night for a few weeks and every week you add a night, working your way up so that one day you can tolerate it every night."

"It's a natural solution to promote hair growth that patients swear by. The company itself has shown results through their own studies, but don't underestimate placebo in helping yourself, especially when it comes to hair. Nutrafol helps with hormonal imbalance, inflammation, oxidative stress, and nutritional deficiencies because it's a multivitamin. If you're going to take Nutrafol, be careful I'm taking a multivitamin as well because you don't want to overdose on vitamin A or vitamin D. The trick to this is being very consistent with it over six months, which sucks because it's expensive. That is the reality, and you're not going to grow hair elsewhere on your body that doesn't happen."
"Nizoral is available over the counter at 1% whereas the prescription is at 2% and this one really does help to reduce inflammation and flakiness caused by the yeast itself. The added bonus of Nizoral is that it can also help if you're somebody struggling with hair loss or hair thinning because it can block your dihydrotestosterone, a hormone that contributes to hair loss, therefore allowing your hair to stay on your head longer. The most important thing when it comes to this shampoo is to let it get some quality time with your scalp, allowing it to sit on your scalp to do its thing before you rinse it off."

"Nizoral shampoo, which is known as Ketoconazole, is a great adjunct for you to be using if you are losing your hair and you do not know why. Ketoconazole is an anti-fungal medication available prescription at two percent, over the counter at one percent. Using this is a great adjunct if you're losing your hair because it helps by decreasing any sort of inflammation on your scalp, it kills any kind of fungus, the malassezia fungus which causes dandruff which may contribute to hair loss. It has been shown to basically block dihydrotestosterone, also known as DHT, which is in your hair and which leads to your hair staying small and short, the miniaturization of your hair that is one of the leading causes of female and male pattern hair loss. We're not 100 percent sure about that but we think that's how it works. And it also makes your hair appear fuller by making it appear thicker because it increases the diameter of your hair."

"Neutrogena T/Gel Shampoo is a scalp therapy anti-dandruff shampoo with scalp buildup control and 2.5% salicylic acid. Just make sure that you massage it to your scalp to really get in on your scalp so it can do the thing it needs to do. The shampoo smells nice. I was shocked because it is with apple cider vinegar and so I do not associate the scent of apple cider vinegar as a refreshing scent, but the scent of the shampoo is actually quite refreshing."
"Ketoconazole shampoo is an anti-fungal medicine that can help your face, especially if you have dandruff on your face around your eyebrows, in the corners of your nose, or along your eyelid margins. When that subsides and you calm the seborrheic dermatitis down, you minimize the inflammation associated with it and your redness gets better in the long run. The shampoo is not necessarily the best as a face wash because it's not the ideal pH and it might be a little bit stripping, but if you use it several times periodically, maybe twice a week or four times a week, in the areas that are actually the worst, letting it sit for a few minutes before washing it off, you will see a huge difference in your skin in the long run. You're going to have to incorporate this throughout the course of your life and figure out the cadence of how you want to use it."
"I love this serum because your hair does not look greasy the next day. You can use it every night and your hair does not look like it has product in it. "This is a very lightweight non-greasy serum that you apply directly onto the scalp. It will make your hair look a little bit wet when you apply it to your scalp but the next day you don't have any weird frizz or textural issues. It helps to reduce shedding and promote natural hair growth. Plus it has amaranthus cactus seed extract which helps to increase the diameter of hair fibers for fuller thicker looking hair and it has other things within that extract including peptides polysaccharides vitamins amino acids. They also have an anti-gray complex in it that supposedly has antioxidants in it that help reduce the look of gray hairs. I use it every night and it does not mess up my hairstyle the next day and that's what I think is most fascinating about this serum whereas other products that I've used mess up my hair and I have to wash it the next day."

It's supposed to help with minimizing the appearance of gray hair of which I have a lot, but I'm covering up with this at the moment. It is also supposed to help with hair density. "Beauty of Joseon has a Revive Eye Serum with ginseng and retinal, which is stronger than retinol. So if you are nervous, I would start with this. If you are a little bit more accustomed to retinols and retinoids in general, I would then move on to something else. It has retinal, like I said, that's stronger than retinol, and ginseng, which is a powerful antioxidant. The texture is lightweight and creamy, and I like this a little bit more in the sense that it has easier control in terms of the ability of the product to hold its shape."

"Whether it's the IT Cosmetics or whether it's another product, they're all gimmicks because they basically have film forming agents that kind of create a barrier on top of your skin to tighten your skin temporarily. They have some hydrating ingredients like acetyl hexapeptide eight or hydrolyzed rice protein or hyaluronic acid or whatever, but ultimately the second you put makeup on top or you put a moisturizer on top of it, it will start to crack and crease and kind of create a tiny film that pills off. The effects are really not that long lasting. The only way you're going to get a long lasting effect is if it's all you put on your face and you skip and bypass the makeup, and you'll have like a full day's effect, but it will crease and crack throughout the day. They may be great for a photo shoot or a very short visit to somebody important, but they're not great and they're not going to help your face in the long run."

"I put the SK-II Essence in a misting spray to try to make sure I'm getting the biggest bang out of my buck when it goes on my face and I'm not going to be wasting any drop this way or on a cotton pad. I use it underneath a serum and a moisturizer to really help hold on to hydration, especially during winter time because it's dry AF with the heaters and buildings or if I travel somewhere like into the mountain area."
"Essences are extremely lightweight. This is one by SK-II. I've actually dumped this into this. I usually put it in a misting thing like this because I get way more bang out of it and it's really expensive so I want to get as much bang out of it as I possibly can. "I'm going to use the hypochlorous acid to kind of sprit on my face, this is by Tower 28. I do think it's a good habit to have especially if you're somebody who sweats a lot post gym. "I actually love this product genuinely. The reason why I love SK2 is because it allows your other humectants and your other hydrating products to penetrate deeper. It's a great primer for people with dry skin especially in a dry environment to hold on and to retain moisture. I just think it's bloody expensive. I hate the dropper, it's such a waste, so instead I put it into this little spritzer and I spritz away before I do anything else and the little spritz goes a very long way compared to putting 50 droppers in your hand and wasting like 20 valuable dollars each time you do that."
"Neutrogena also has their Norwegian hand cream this guy right here that can really hold on to that hydration. I love the nozzle followed by a nice cuticle oil on top to massage it in to make sure that your cuticles look their best."
"O'Keeffe's Working Hands is one of my favorite moisturizers. It's loaded in stearic acid and allantoin to create a nice protective barrier over your skin. I would use this on my hands and sometimes I go to sleep with it depending on how dry it is, or I just do it for like 15 to 30 minutes after the shower to really allow for that moisture to get absorbed into my hands. This is an amazing hack especially for healthcare workers or those who wash their hands or work in restaurants or at bars and their hands are constantly exposed to fluids. This will save your little fingers and digits and hands."
"The Bioderma Atoderm Shower Oil is oily but hydratingly soft. It's not a pure oil, it has glycerin in it as well as niacinamide. It retails for 30 dollars and you do feel very slippery once you use it."
"Having a shower filter that can help eliminate the hard water can really change the game. Hard water is when water is loaded in calcium and magnesium and for me that translates to my hair feeling brittle looking slightly green because yes I get highlights in addition to the fact that it feels like it is just limp and my skin is lackluster I lose my Radiance I'm not as glowy I just feel dull overall. This particular filter itself produces hard water from the magnesium and the calcium preventing scale buildup and improving water flow plus it removes up to 99% of chlorine which can make a big difference because that can lead to skin irritation and overall dryness. It does target and remove metals like lead and Mercury ensuring cleaner and safer water. My favorite favorite favorite part of this is the fact that it has three different pressure systems and I go for the hardest one because it gets all the shampoo out but it feels like a massage on my scalp and on my back. You can pick from lowest to highest and I think that is probably the most clutch feature of this shower head system."

"Liquid rhinoplasty, non-surgical nose jobs where injectors are injecting dissolvable fillers, hyaluronic acid based fillers like Juvéderm into your nasal bridge or the tip of your nose to hide any lumps, bumps, to make it appear straighter, to lift the tip up, because they want a little bit of a button nose or to have a more refined look, this is a huge risk. Your nose is the area of your face that is part of the midline of your face, and the midline of anyone's face is the most dangerous area. Your arteries come from the outside in and they tend to end in the midline, so it's an area that has a lot of end arteries. When you are placing filler in this area and it gets into that artery, it can cause a vascular occlusion, a blockage. The filler blocking the artery can result in skin death, also known as necrosis. A lot of people end up having permanent disfigurements. I do not recommend this. Is it rare? Yes. Can it happen? Sure. And would I want to play Russian roulette with my own face? No."

How to Reduce Fine Lines & Wrinkles from a Dermatologist! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"I have a NuFace Trinity and I think the NuFace Trinity in my opinion works a little bit better than the Zip. Microcurrent devices release ATP from your skin cells to allow your skin to really regenerate and tighten and contract over time and to help with collagen production. But devices are only as good as you're going to use them. If you've never wanted to get a facelift and you are really gung-ho about making a difference for yourself, buy one, but make sure you use it. You have to use it every day for like at least 20 minutes all over your face. If you have that in you, it can make a difference, but once you stop you're probably going to go back to where you started."
How to Get Rid of Sagging Jowls from a Dermatologist! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"With microcurrent devices like the NuFace Trinity, if you don't use it you don't see any benefit from it. If you use it you will see benefit from it. When you stop using it you will no longer see any benefit from it. You only get the benefit from it as long as you use it. The device delivers low-level electrical currents to the muscle and to the tissues of the face which can have several beneficial effects. Number one is muscle stimulation, so it's going to help to get that muscle kind of contracted and moving which can help with lymphatic fluid. It's not going to make your muscles bigger. Number two, supposedly it helps to promote collagen production, helping to stimulate the ATP supply, the energy supply of your cells, promoting collagen to get secreted and for your skin to look slightly plumper over time. It improves circulation of course it will because your muscles are slightly getting stimulated and you're actually physically moving it kind of like with a roller or a spoon or a massage. The biggest thing is reducing fluid retention or temporary lymphatic drainage is what you're going to probably see the most from this in the short-term effect. You will look better in the short term when you use this, but it will probably come back within an hour."

"This is going to help to stimulate all of your skin, your collagen production, your muscle stimulation. It is a great device. Very honestly, I've had this. I had the Zip. I think I prefer this to the Zip. It seems more intuitive. The Zip for me never quite gelled, but it's you and your preference. Do I think one is technically better than the other? No, I think it's you and your preference. This uses electrical muscle stimulation, also known as EMS. If you're somebody who is prone to TMJ and you clench a lot, do not use this. It might make it worse, so just be careful. But if you do this often enough, your face will get more sculpted. I was using it more often back in February and March, and people were telling me I looked more defined."

And on the neck, this can give a very subtle effect of tightening, but you have to use it very consistently to see the results, or else the results will not be visible."

How to Get Rid of Sagging Jowls from a Dermatologist! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"Drainage is what you're going to probably see the most from this in the short-term effect. You see a lot of videos on social where people are like 'I just did the new face, look how snatched inside of my face looks', it's because they moved lymphatic fluid around. It will probably come back within an hour, but you will look better in the short term when you use this. So if you do not have the cash to go see a provider or you like things that you do yourselves or you want to do something every day, this is going to be it."

"This has electrical currents that is producing ATP, so this is going to help to stimulate all of your skin, your collagen production, your muscle stimulation. It is a great device. Very honestly, I've had this. I had the Zip, I think I prefer this to the Zip. It seems more intuitive. The Zip for me never quite gelled, but it's you and your preference. Do I think one is technically better than the other? No, I think it's you and your preference. If you're looking for pure muscle stimulation, this uses electrical muscle stimulation, also known as EMS. If you're somebody who is prone to TMJ and you clench a lot, do not use this. It might make it worse. So just be careful. But if you do this often enough, your face will get more sculpted. I was using it more often back in February, March, and people were telling me I looked more defined. I think it was this. But it's just annoying, and quite frankly, if you have a nose, this does not give you the breathing room for your nose."
"Dr. Dennis Gross also has one for $148. LED specifically made for the lips. Great, sure you could use them, but the reality is the juice worth the squeeze only if you squeeze every day. And so you're going to have to use these very consistently every single day, very long term in order to see any sort of difference."
"If you're going to go for a salicylic acid spray for your scalp, look at the beautiful spray mixture on this spray. That is a beautiful spray mixture, so you could spray this throughout your scalp and even on certain body parts, like if you break out and you're oily on your back or your chest. It's always easier than having to get somebody to apply something to your back or your chest. With this you don't, and you can apply it throughout your scalp and massage it into your scalp. When you're spraying something there's better diffusion than versus applying it to different sections of your scalp."
"Spironolactone is a blood pressure medication that can also help with hormonal breakouts to minimize the breakouts along the jawline. And it can be very, very helpful as well. But if your blood pressure runs on the low side, you have to be careful with that. Plus, there are other side effects that some people just don't necessarily want, like breast enlargements, and I have lived that experience as well. Hence why I could not be on spironolactone."

Does Cyperus Oil Stop Hair Growth?! Feat. LabMuffin Beauty Science | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"Spironolactone has been around for decades. If there was a link linking it to cancer, that link would have been shown by now through the data, but that link has never been proven and there has been no increased associated risk with any sort of GYN cancer, meaning breast cancer or uterine cancer. The benefits far outweigh the risks, especially when you're dealing with a patient who is having increased hair growth or unwanted hair loss or even hormonal acne, and you're trying to balance that psychological impact and burden of a disease versus the risk of treating them with a medication."
Hair Loss Treatments That Actually Work for Women & Men! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"Spironolactone is another prescription medication, this one is oral. It is a blood pressure medication as well that has been shown to have anti-androgen effects. It blocks the testosterone receptor on your hair follicles. Women especially benefit from this very much so when they have hormonal acne, but it has been shown to have promising benefits for hair as well. It does decrease your androgen production overall in your body, so you have to be careful again if you're trying to get pregnant. You are not allowed to be on this. They most recently came out with a spironolactone cream also known as Winlevi."

"I really really like this one. It is a thick and rich luscious ointment. It retails for approximately 14 to 15 dollars. It's fragrance free. It also has prebiotic oat concentrates, aloe, and pro vitamin B5. This was and is a staple in my household, especially when I had babies."
"I had these oil droplets on my nails when I was using a really harsh manicure known as Dazzle Dry, but I got these dark oil stains on my nails. For me, it was a chemical reaction. So when I stopped it, those oil stains left."
"It's just a beautiful product. They also have an SPF powder that comes with four different shades and the powders themselves are refillable so you can keep the brush and clean it and buy the refill and just stick it on here. It's not the best dispensing mechanism, but a lot does come out as you can see, so it's not bad once you get it moving and get it kind of through the holes underneath the brush. I do use this product as my makeup as well. I literally use this much every morning and it covers my face and I do make sure to tap it on my nose and my jawline. The way I apply it is yes I do kind of shmear it on but then I take it and I tap tap tap tap tap that way product underneath it does not pill because when you rub sunscreen over other products the other products have a tendency to."
"This is a 7% glycolic acid and it works like magic. The nozzle top really helps to get it into the areas that you want to apply it on your scalp. You let it sit before you shower, allowing the glycolic acid to do its thing to dissolve those bonds between the dead skin cells and to help your skin exfoliate itself but also hydrate."

Skincare for Your 20s: Acne, Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation, Oily Skin | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"The Ordinary has a glycolic acid peel at 7%. It is relatively low, it's not going to break your bank. It's 13 bucks. You will be fine."
Best Skincare for Your 30s: Anti-aging, Oily Skin, Hormonal/Adult Acne & More! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"Glycolic acid is an AHA, and because glycolic acid is the smallest of AHAs, it goes the deepest in our skin to help promote collagen production. If you are a beginner or you are sensitive and you are nervous, The Ordinary is a safe place to start. It comes in a liquid form. It is a 7% glycolic acid and it is only glycolic acid, so it's great for beginners. Make sure to soak a cotton pad with this and apply it to your face after washing your face, but use it at night because it can make you more sun sensitive."
Glycolic Acid vs. Salicylic Acid: Is it for Your Skin Type & Concern? | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"This is seven percent glycolic acid so this is great for beginners. It's a toning solution, it's very watery and it comes in a nice dropper. At thirteen dollars it's not going to break the bank and it's worth testing on a spot if you're sensitive."

If you're itchy and really dry, this is something I would really strongly recommend because in the long run it's also going to help retain the moisture on your scalp so it doesn't get as dry as easily. Glycolic acid is going to solve both odor and darkness on areas like your underarms, elbows, or knees."
