★ Best cleanser for acne-prone skin
Effaclar 2% Gel Cleanser
La Roche-Posay Effaclar 2% Gel Cleanser
Brought up 2 times
The type of cleanser that you also use matters a lot because you need cleansers that are actually targeted at people with your skin type. My favorite cleanser I tell you guys all the time is the La Roche-Posay Effaclar cleanser. That cleanser was made for people with acne prone skin. It's literally the best that I have used. It is perfect in my opinion. I use it after I have used the Effaclar micellar water now. I think that these two were made for each other, these two products.
★ Best retinol
Retinol Serum with Ferulic Acid
Dr. Dennis Gross Retinol Serum with Ferulic Acid
Brought up 2 times
There are retinol serums. Actually, the best retinol I've ever used in my life is a retinol serum from Dr. Dennis Gross. It is really, really good. And there's something that they put in it that actually combats that very bad side effect that retinol gives you sometimes.
★ Best sunscreen
Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics SPF 50+ PA++++
Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics SPF 50+ PA++++
Brought up 2 times
This is my favorite sunscreen from Beauty of Joseon. This is their Relief Sun rice and probiotics. Basically, this is the one for people with oily acne prone skin.

When I ran out of my usual benzoyl peroxide gel, I switched to this and it did nothing for my acne. My issue with CeraVe in general is that their products contain a lot of ceramides, and the humectants and other ingredients they use can make it so the product doesn't give you the results you need. I bought about four of these because I couldn't believe benzoyl peroxide wasn't working, but the formulation is why it wasn't working. I would not recommend this and don't think it was worth it.
Dimma Umeh: Nay vs gurus 62% Yay
This product went so viral in 2024, everybody and their mamas were talking about it, and it was targeted at people with oily skin who are prone to breakouts. My skin was acting up when I gave it a try, and it broke me out. I used it for about two weeks and it left my skin worse than it met it. Instead of removing things from my pores, it put things into mine, and I got a lot of clogged pores and closed comedones in places I typically don't break out. This product has worked for some people, so I don't think everybody's lying, but if you're acne-prone I'd consider micellar water first before jumping on oil cleansers.
Dimma Umeh: Nay vs gurus 83% Yay
I got the big size in a particular shade and felt like my skin was a lot more greasy after using it. I tried mixing it with the Water Powder Serum like people recommended and even tried the universal colorless version, but it was the same thing: it made my skin more greasy and it clogged my pores. This product broke me out. I know it's a cult favorite and works for some people with oily skin, but if you're acne-prone you have to be very careful with it. If you want to try it, start with a small size before committing to a bigger one because it's not cheap.

"This is the cleanser that I use. I've talked about this cleanser to you guys so many times. It's the La Roche-Posay Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser for oily skin. This will get rid of all the oil on your face. It will help combat breakouts. It will help prevent breakouts. I always have this cleanser, at least one jar somewhere in the house. And it's become a family thing now because it's not just me. My husband kind of has oily skin and we both use this. So I always get big bottles at any given time."

"I always just go grab this. It's always in the supermarket, you can always get it from retailers. It's fragrance-free, it's non-foaming, and designed for sensitive skin. Sometimes sensitive skin cleansers are too rich for oily skin girls, but this one strikes the right balance. It doesn't clog pores, it doesn't cause breakouts. When I say I used this between 2018 and 2019, the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser was my cleanser. [...] If you've been hesitant to try this because it doesn't say 'for oily skin' on the packaging, don't worry, it works."

"I currently use Bioderma Sebium H2O for double cleansing. [...] It removes everything without the heavy greasy residue sometimes that you would get with micellar water. [...] The one for oily skin I would highly highly highly recommend. I always have it on my dressing table or in the area where I get ready or do my skincare in the morning. It works great. It gets the job done. It's not heavy on the skin. In addition to all of this, it's very gentle and effective and doesn't disrupt your skin."

"My favorite balm to actually use is the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm, the charcoal one is so good for people who have combination to oily skin. This will take your makeup off, it will dissolve everything, even the toughest type of eyeliner this thing will dissolve. I take my time and work this through or into my face, and once I'm done doing that I'm going to rinse it off with water."

"I go in with concealer and I use this to define my brows. I really, really love the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer. It gives you time to blend, especially if you're a beginner and you're worried that your concealer might dry really quickly -- [...] it will give you time to apply precisely and then blend out. If you're not sure what shade to use for this, I recommend going about one to two shades lighter than your actual skin tone. I also apply a lighter shade of the same concealer in my inner corner, and on my outer corner I use the same shade I used to define my brows. Blending everything in creates a very nice gradient and gives my eyeshadow a very nice base."

"This concealer is so good. It has very, very good coverage. It's very easy to blend. And it just blends out well. It's not streaky. And it's also very forgiving that it doesn't dry out really, really fast. Even if you start getting any creasing before you set, you can always go in with your brush or your beauty blender and blend it out again without losing coverage."

"I'm using my Too Faced Born This Way Concealer in butterscotch and basically you just want to mimic or recreate what your face looks like when light is hitting it head on. So your forehead, underneath your eyes, your chin, these are areas that are naturally lighter on the face, so you use a concealer that is one shade lighter at this stage to highlight."

"My favorite thing about this particular concealer is that it's not super like full coverage. The way it kind of blends out, it's almost like in a very diffused way. So you can tell that you're highlighted, but you're not super snatched. And that works for the type of finish we are going for."

"Now, there are different brands that have very nice sunscreens. But the one that I really, really like a lot, especially in the past 2 years, that outside of not making my face feel like a grease ball, is also very light and sits very light on my skin, is the Beauty of Joseon Aqua sunscreen. If you're someone who does not like to carry heavy things around, if you're also someone who is concerned about managing space when it comes to things like this, this is so good. I just wish that it was a bit cheaper."

[...] If you're going out and you want to oil your chest and oil your arms and your legs, this is a very very good oil to use. [...] It will give you that shine and the sheen that you're after, it will condition your body, give you that glow that you want, but it will not feel greasy and sit on your skin. "I like to finish it up with the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Melt-in Milk Sunscreen SPF 60, and this is because whether or not you're going outside, or even if you just get a little bit of sunlight sitting close to windows, whatever, you need sunscreen regardless. This one is [...] very, very popular as well, but very, very good, most importantly because this does not break me out and it's invisible. It's not something that, you know, some of these sunscreens leave a white cast, and if you're not careful, if you apply sunscreen before you start doing your makeup you can actually change the color of your complexion products. This one does not do that."

"I personally love the one from The Ordinary, their 7% glycolic acid, their exfoliating toner. When I initially started using this product, I would use it as a toner for my face to get rid of like dead skin cells. But this product is such a powerhouse, guys. And I don't think that I'll stop recommending it anytime soon. So I use this on my face sometimes and I remember like I told you guys already that I had bumps on my chest. I used this product and it got rid of all those bumps. Now one part of the body where I think that people have spoken about this before, but just in case you've not heard, this is a very good product to use on your immediate underarms because if you use deodorant and you're just very active, we tend to actually accumulate dead skin cells in that area."

[...] If you have a hyperactive scar [...] where you felt like the scar was overhealing and it wasn't flattening as quickly as you should, then maybe you should go and see a doctor for that. "If you're interested in trying really new things or you're interested in a perfume that you've not quite smelled anything like it, like ever probably, you should consider Amouage Guidance. I use it once in a while and every time I use it, there's always like you smell so different. One of the notes that you get with this is incense and I remember, I know what incense smells like, but for me the only place I'll smell incense is in church and I remember the first time that I smelled this I was like what is this, and I never knew that incense could be in something I smell as good as it does outside of how I know incense to smell. This is so different, there's something like almost mystical about this, like it's crazy. There's just two types of people for this like you can stand it or you absolutely love it or you hate it, but it's a very very good perfume."
