“If I were in his shoes, I might consider taking Heliocare. I'm not recommending that in general, always talk to your healthcare provider about any dietary supplement, but for me personally I think I would take it here because it's a dietary supplement, it has a fern block in it, it comes from Polypodium, and it does have evidence that it can reduce the burden of damage in the skin from sun exposure. It's not a sunscreen pill though, it's not a replacement for sunscreen or meant to be an alternative to sunscreen, but it can be very helpful for people who have photosensitive skin conditions. [...] It tends to be pretty well tolerated. [...] I'm not in any way sponsored or affiliated with Heliocare, but I would consider it in situations like endurance sports where you're outside for a long time and dressing more scantily.”

“I finished up a bottle of Heliocare. I highly, highly recommend taking it every day, especially if you're somewhere sunny like Arizona. It uses Polypodium leucotomos fern extract, and peer reviewed studies show its proof as an antioxidant. It's a sunscreen pill, but it does not replace sunscreen in any way, it just helps your skin fight off UV rays a little bit better. It's certainly worth it. I take this every day year round, and I definitely don't forget it when I travel.”

“Heliocare is a well-researched, safe natural supplement that provides measurable photo protection from the inside out. It's backed by over 40 years of research showing it can reduce UV damage, support DNA repair, decrease inflammation, and help conditions like melasma and actinic keratosis. It's incredibly safe with only 2% of people experiencing any mild side effects. But [...] it's a supplement to your sun protection routine, not a replacement for sunscreen. You still need all of your regular sun protection measures.”

“I put polypodium supplements to the ultimate test with Heliocare. I was in Scottsdale, Arizona with my wife, I put sunscreen on my face and on my arms but intentionally did not put any on my white chest, and I took like six or eight Heliocare capsules. I laid in a pool floaty in the sun for an hour and I did not burn. I was a believer at that point and I've recommended them ever since. Heliocare is available over the counter in capsule form, and they also have a Heliocare Plus with nicotinamide in it. Just know polypodium is not a substitute for sunscreen.”

“I recommend this to so many of my patients especially during the sunnier summer months a common brand is Helioare or Helioare Ultra”

“I love this one, the RO POS UV mune, this is a repurchase. I used this a lot when I was gone, when I was in pure sun, and somebody the other day asked me why I was so pale, so I guess the sunscreen worked. I picked up this version of the Heliocare facial moisturizing sunscreen with the European filters in it.”

“Polypodium Leucotomos has probably the best evidence for preventing damage from the Sun and additionally there's a couple things, so Heliocare with the Cornerstone ones, then there's a sun supplement. [...] I think they're working on their concentrations which is good. [...] Topically you just want to go all out so you want to be using sunscreen consistently reapplying probably at least every two hours, even more frequently than what the label says.”

“I also really love Helio care which is pretty much the same kind of product I just feel like Inner Glow is a lot better but you do pay more of a premium for Inner Glow”

“Heliocare has an active ingredient called Polypodium leucotomos extract that has been shown in studies to supplement the treatment of melasma because it has antioxidant properties and can really help protect you against the sun in addition to your sunscreen. It's worth looking into. Is it necessary? I think not. Do I think it has additive benefits according to the studies? I think yes.”
