“Aquaphor works too. Neither it nor Vaseline contain antibiotics that your skin can react to. Moist wound healing is what promotes healing and minimizes scarring and infections, and plain petrolatum delivers that without any allergy risk.”

“Petrolatum's gold. It works on so many different things. It's just an essential in my household for kids and adults, for cuts, scrapes, post-biopsies. We recommend Vaseline or Aquaphor instead of Neosporin. I just saw a Neosporin allergy the other day post-surgically on someone that was putting it on their knee surgery scar and got a big nasty rash from the Neosporin. So, use Vaseline instead. If you have dry, chapped lips, go ahead and use it there. If you have chafed skin in the skin folds, say in the groin, the armpits, especially with activity, go ahead and use it there. If you just need a nice barrier to protect sensitive areas, like say your eyelids, when you're applying your retinoid, sometimes really strong retinoids can diffuse towards your eyelids, use it to protect those areas.”

“You just take a regular Aquaphor. Put your little brush in there and just coat a very thin coating. It does not need to be thick. Very thin coating of Aquaphor. And then leave it alone. Do not wash it. Do not try to put any other sort of creams on it tonight. Just leave it alone. And that is what is going to help your it gives you the best chance of speed healing that there's no scent. There's no active ingredient.”

“Plain Vaseline, Aquafor will work the exact same way when it comes to efficacy, and you're not subjecting yourself to any risk. If you want your minor wounds to heal the best, we want to wash them regularly and keep them moist. So, every day, you're going to use an antibacterial soap to gently wash the area. And then you can apply your Aquafor or your Vaseline and then keep it covered.”

“Aquaphor has its benefits and it has its risks. I used to have really bad OCD when I was a child and I used to wash my hands until they were raw. At the time they gave me Aquaphor, and then I would put gloves on top of them and help to repair the hands over time. But really locking in that moisture made a big difference.”

“Aquaphor is my lip holy grail. Tried and true. I for years have used Aquaphor to hydrate my lips, but I also love using it for slugging. I mean, it's just great. I will always love Aquaphor.”

“Before putting your retinol on, in order to avoid it creeping into these areas, I do suggest putting a little bit of petroleum jelly ointment, Vaseline, Aquaphor, Caravee healing ointment to these areas to prevent it from penetrating and accessing that skin because it can be very irritating in the long run.”

“A lot of times patients will put Aquaphor over that skin to keep it relatively moist.”

“I really love Aquaphor, that one is great. Aquaphor does have great petrolatum ingredient, glycerin, panthenol, but does also contain lanoline, which is derived from sheep wool, so if you have a lanoline allergy then you may want to just stick with plain old petrolatum or try something else. Anything with petrolatum based is great for sealing the extra moisture.”

“Another well ointment is Aquaphor. It truly has been a favorite of mine for years now. This only contains 46% petroleum and contains a number of other ingredients as well. It has glycerin and panthenol properties, so this guy will seal everything in. It helps to hydrate, protect, and soothe the skin. Plus it's a little bit lighter in texture than Vaseline, but it still could clog your pores so be careful. A downside is that it does contain lanoline, which I know can irritate a lot of skins. I personally have had zero problems with it. I've used it for years, but I've heard it can be problematic.”

“Aquaphor even comes in a spray bottle that you can put directly on top of that cream to provide extra protection. It's sealing in that moisture and preventing epidermal water loss.”

“If you have a few common products in your skincare arsenal you can actually get on the slugging trend by putting a little dab of a petrolatum based ointment like Aquaphor. The real magic of the petrolatum ointment is it locks everything in place, all that hydration, all that moisture, all that plumpness, all that goodness. So when you wake up your skin still looks and feels like that in the morning. It creates that really protective layer on your skin while you're sleeping and locks everything in. If you've never liked putting a straight layer on your face, try mixing a little dab of it into your moisturizer so that the petrolatum ointment application becomes a little bit thinner, because it can be a little suffocating, a little heavy. Mixing it into your moisturizer booms up the occlusive abilities of your moisturizer, so you're still locking in all your skincare, and it helps to make the layer a little more tolerable for some folks. One of my favorites that I started using to help calm down itchiness, irritation, redness and inflammation in my skin while also locking everything in.”

“I'm a huge fan of Aquaphor. I like using it on my lips, on my elbows, on my cracked heels, for any cuts and scrapes. It's just a really great multi-purpose protectant bomb, and it has mainly petrolatum but some formulations of it also have glycerin and babol and panthenol, which all help to kind of soothe the skin and really protect that skin barrier. I would definitely say cleanse, then do salicylic acid pads, then maybe use a very light moisturizer or oil, and then I would do the Aquaphor as the final step.”
