D Dr Dray Approved
“AmLactin keeps the stratum corneum nice, smooth, and compact and moisturizes the skin, so Dr. Dray personally has no need to mechanically exfoliate her body ever, aside from shaving. Used consistently, it means you don't need to pre-exfoliate before applying sunless tanner since the skin is already smooth, though the alpha hydroxy acid in it does mean a DHA based fake tan won't last as long and will need to be reapplied a couple of days sooner because it speeds up shedding of the stratum corneum.”

DS Dr. Daniel Sugai Approved
“For thick, ashy knees and elbows, consider AmLactin. It uses lactic acid, which is a gentle exfoliant to help take away that dead skin that's building up.”

TS The Style and Beauty Doctor Approved
“You're still going to need exfoliation, but you got to keep it gentle. Something like AmLactin is going to be amazing because it moisturizes and exfoliates.”

MA Mad About Skin Approved
“AmLactin is a lactic acid-based moisturizer, and lactic acid is fantastic because it's a humectant. It draws in and retains moisture in itself. So if you're somebody that experiences a lot of dryness, a lot of flaking with your retinoid use, using lactic acid alongside it can actually help counter some of those side effects. Lactic acid is super gentle, so you get minimum irritation, but it's also hydrating, moisturizing. It's a humectant. It's going to lock in all that moisture, meaning it's perfect to use alongside retinoids.”

SI Dr. Shereene Idriss Skip
“If all of a sudden you are exfoliating your arms, right, and getting rid of the bonds of the dead skin cells holding those dead skin cells together and you go outside to Central Park and it's 80° and you have not protected your skin, your skin is more sensitive to the sun. So what I would swap to as the temperature goes up and as you start to wear little spaghetti strap tank tops, I would switch to a urea-based moisturizer because urea unlike exfoliating acids is not going to make you as sensitive to the sun.”

“I love exfoliating ingredients like amlactin is great um which is an ammonium lactate lactic acid derivative so you exfoliates and moisturizes”

JL Dr. Jenny Liu Approved
“If you are doing exfoliation on a regular basis, I recommend going with a chemical exfoliate like AmLactin, and you want to avoid physical loofas, body brushes, body scrubs as much as you can because the physical exfoliation can be damaging to your skin barrier and may spread bacteria, causing more inflammation to acne and folliculitis.”
